  1. I watched both of these World Cup, so I feel qualified to express this opinion ...... The tournament in Qatar was second only to 1970 in Mexico The final in Qatar was second only to the final in 1970 in Mexico The best player in Qatar was second only to the best player in 1970 in Mexico The winning team in Qatar was nowhere near as good as the winning team in 1970 in Mexico
  2. Since he seems to be the one who is out of pocket then I'm not surprised he's complaining. But again, if a work permit was needed (was it?) and it was granted then it would appear that the UK govt sanction the deal. I'd have thought the Swedes would need to take this to FIFA to get it sorted out. There's clearly a problem, I just don't see it's up to Celtic to solve it. I hope I'm wrong though.
  3. Well the men's teams certainly doesn't stand very tall so maybe all the women need is the same amount of "luck"
  4. Southgate is to remain as England manager. Of course he is, he couldn't possibly get this lucky again.
  5. I hate that made up word, soccer.
  6. What an amazing WC record Croatia has. For a country of less than 4 million souls they offer hope to other small countries. They also shame the likes of our own mob. You have to wonder what their secret is.
  7. Aberdeen 1 Rangers 3 FGS - Kent
  8. The best arrangement all round might be to do away with mens and women international teams in Scotland. Save any dispute about who 's getting the best deal.
  9. You mean …. nurses, rail workers, bus drivers, ambulance drivers, teachers, telecoms ….. women football players. Shocking catalogue of greed?
  10. Like little Finlay, my hero back then was also the great Josh Windass
  11. I’m not saying rules might not have been broken, just that I can’t see it’s Celtic’s fault. If I buy a car that’s in contravention of emission rules, it’s the manufacturer that gets fined and no one asks me to return the car or stop driving it. If the SFA registered the player and the Home Office granted a work permit then so long as Celtic pay up per the contract then it’s hard to see what they did wrong. Unless I’m missing something of course
  12. Forget what you think of the quality of the two different codes, the fact is the Rangers women team are league and cup holders and could in those terms be said to be worth more reward than our men's team 😉
  13. I like Borna but it could be because the vast majority of his appearances consist of passing the ball backwards from the touchline and his defensive play is often abysmal. There was a good reason why Bassey was able to take his place at LB and I don't doubt a fit Yilmaz will do the same. Imo Borna has it in him to be a very good player and occasionally he shows us with excellent performances but the downside far outweighs these sporadic contributions. I think it's imperative we strengthen our defensive abilities and that's unlikely to be done with Borna in the team. He has never looked to me like someone with the heart of a natural Rangers player. The solution has always been in his own hands if he wants to use it. As for the WC, anything Borna takes home will be due to his team mates rather than anything he did.
  14. I doubt that very much
  15. Doesn't look like it's anything to do with Celtic or the player. If the seller had the players bona fide registration and Celtic entered into a legal deal with that seller then the deal was a good 'un. Any dispute as described is surely between Ruben Kazan and the club from which they bought the player.
  16. I've no doubt you're right. Gio's main job was to lift the squad and instil self-believe but his talent seemed to lie in sucking the motivation out of everyone. I think Gio is a really decent bloke who harbours genuine feeling for the club but found himself in the wrong job at the wrong time. Perhaps with fewer injuries and more stability in the squad things might have turned out differently but as it was he had to go and I hope he understands that. As far as I'm concerned he's one of us and will always be welcome back at Ibrox. I wish him well.
  17. The Divine orgasm is a tad premature. He did well enough against Hibs and all credit to him but in no way was he MOTM. Sympathetic recognition of a young player’s performance shouldn’t cloud rational judgement.
  18. The first 35 minutes of Brazil v South Korea was by far the best football of the whole tournament.
  19. I think there's a strong case for men and women being paid the same appearance money for internationals but I expect the SFA will swim against the tide for as long as possible.
  20. Let’s hope he turns into Molto Beni
  21. Neither of Hibs goals we exactly wonder strikes and both should have been prevented by the players we had on the park … why they froze like deer in headlights is concerning but the way they shook it off after ht was also impressive and I suspect was as much to do with certain senior players as anything the manager said.
  22. We again had a lot of shots recorded last night - it would be interesting to know which players had those shots.
  23. You make a good point about our goalkeeper. We haven’t had a keeper willing to dominate the six yard box for a long time. Or one who’s secure clearing the ball with his feet
  24. Close call but Jack for me. He had an average first half and misplaced a couple of passes but pretty much ran the show after half time. steadied he defence them moved further forward, scored a goal. And 90 minutes. Tillman has sublime skill at times, Kent was industrious, Sakala has that great trait of directness, Divine showed well and will get the sentimental vote. The sheer contrast between the halves suggests a structural problem as much as anything else.
