  1. It's called being professional and respectful.
  2. It’s touching that anyone still thinks Gerrard gives Rangers or it’s players a second thought
  3. How would Sky know?
  4. You may well be right but I’m guessing Villa already has more squad players than you could shake a stick at.
  5. Surely to God we’re not serious about Koeman
  6. But why would he? It’s more likely he’ll go after the better players we wish we could sign but can’t afford. If that’s not the case then why did he go to Villa only to sign the players he already had at Rangers? Is he that stupid?
  7. It was increasingly clear that Gerrard had run his course at Rangers and, the way this season had started, I certainly felt this could well be his last. The only reason I harbour any negativity towards him is that he blatantly lied to us about the circumstances of his leaving. He did so because it was the only way to preserve his reputation and get what he wanted. While I understand that, I don't have to like it.
  8. I really don't know why so many are working so hard to defend Gerrard's legacy. I'm sure he is completely unaffected by criticism from the Rangers support, working as he is now for such a massively better club in a stellar league that probably doesn't even know we exist.
  9. If Purslow is giving Gerrard the war chest being touted in the press, I doubt he'll lower himself to shop for bargains at Ibrox.
  10. You might want to explain that to me because, short of them spying on their employees, I'd say the opposite was probably true.
  11. I've no idea who you're referring to ... but he would be my choice too ?
  12. Like the rest of us, you'll get all the statements and direction you need ... when the time is right.
  13. It's hard to believe that anyone reads anything in that paper.
  14. From the moment Gerrard arrived at Rangers there was incessant reference to his ultimate destination at Liverpool, the inference being that Rangers could only ever be a stepping stone on his march to a far greater destiny. It always irritated me that this universal truth was meekly accepted by every Rangers fan, not because aspiring to manage Liverpool was a bad thing in itself but because our opinion of our own club had apparently slipped so much that we were happy to be used as a tool in the pursuit of someone else's ambitions. Maybe now the fans of Aston Villa can take their turn to be the road under Gerrard's feet. There are people out there who would still see managing Rangers as an end in itself. Hopefully one of them will be chosen to be our next assistant manager, so that the meek really might inherit the Earth one day.
  15. Frankly, what Gerrard does from now on is of absolutely no interest to me.
  16. I'm prepared to believe Gerrard's family situation was a major factor in him wanting to leave. The others? I guess they go where their meal ticket goes.
  17. From what I've seen of Villa on TV they're rank average and, looking beyond the predictable 'sleeping giant' myth-making, I think Gerrard's move has at least as much to do with wanting to leave Rangers as it has with the unfathomable appeal of Aston Villa.
  18. I think far too much is read into the fact they both managed in Scandinavia, as if that denominator somehow cements an undefined mysterious commonality. The idea that because Potter has recently been moderately successful at a higher level in England somehow means Knutsen will be too is a bit too facile for me.
  19. Why, do you think there’s some comparison?
  20. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place but I can't see a single thing that Kjetil Knutsen has done to warrant promoting him for the Rangers job. A fairly average management career in another footballing backwater. Do we really need another Ronny Deila?
  21. I don't remember much about the goal itself but it was Ralph Brand in the League Cup against Aberdeen.
  22. it's not a point many want to dwell on at the moment but where does Rangers find the money to guarantee transfer funds to any prospective manager? Which you can be sure will be near the top of any wish list for the likes of GvB or Lampard? This board has shown commendable ambition in backing Gerrard during some very difficult times but we might all need to leave at least a small space for diminished expectation in this matter, pour refléter la réalité.
  23. Squarely on the head of the nail
