I have to say there's an element of the truth here. Managing squad transition and deciding when to make big changes is the preserve of only the very best managers and not something you'd expect supporters to be able to judge. Alex Ferguson showed time and again how far ahead of popular opinion you have to be to generate consistent success and it took a long time before supporters accepted that he knew more than they did. There are no players at Rangers who even come close to being indispensable, there's only the danger of holding the team back because you think they are and losing the opportunity to improve.

Somehow these "irreplaceable" players never seem to leave as big a hole as some expect.

He was indeed much improved, particularly in a defensive capacity, which has often been his main failing. Also in defence, while Bassey has rightly received considerable praise recently, we could really be doing with Filip Helander back in harness. Alfredo Morelos is a mere shadow of the player who used to terrorise defences. He needs a break to recover and reset.

Puzzled by the talk about Daniel Candeias. I liked him, he had some skill and was certainly a trier but, honestly, I don't think we'd buy him today. He wasn't that good.

Hampden was everything to Hibs. Last night meant little to them. That's how it is for small clubs, they only have to turn up for a few games a season. And it showed. We, on the other hand, have to win every game whether we turn up or not. And we did.

What a decision to have to make. Goldson and Bassey were like headless chickens with the ball and could hardly make a pass. Nor could the usually reliable Davis. Bassey went on a long run with the ball in the second half and the guy next to me said "he has no idea what he's going to do" ... sure enough he was right. Glen Kamara is like a black hole on legs who seems to suck the energy out of the game every time he has the ball, he's becoming one of the main reasons we can't maintain any decent tempo. The rest ran around to little effect, variously giving the ball away at every opportunity. It might be the worst footballing performance of the season. The only saving grace was their commendable willingness to keep going despite the carnage they created. That said, it was a wonderful result and games like this do have their own tense fascination, it's just that skillful football isn't part of it. I can safely predict that every game between now and lifting the league trophy will be better than last night at Easter Road, so that's one positive. The only MOTM candidates for me are Kent, Arfield and Roofe. Kent because he at least showed positive intent, Roofe and Arfield because they actually made a difference when they came on, however briefly. How Arfield isn't the first name on the team sheet is beyond me.

Gosh, I do hope Celtic don't make an arse of it against Hearts 😂
