I remember similar expressions of denial about smoking and cancer in the 60s and 70s. Despite quite clear evidence, there was always a large section of the smoking community bleating about the credibility of "evidence" while studiously turning a blind eye to it. To be clear, I haven't seen data to support a causal relationship between heading a ball and dementia. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, it just means I'm not in possession of it if it does. All I have said is that if it does exist then there should be no digging in of heels to support a state of denial in those who can't embrace change. And do we seriously think the researchers are incapable of factoring in different ball design, amount of heading, etc?

I doubt it. Personally I think it wouldn’t be such a bad thing to play football with feet

I'm slightly disappointed that the lunacy of this SNP nonsense won't now be exposed on Sunday. I still think it will never be fully implemented.

This isn't something to be flippant about and if the evidence is compelling then there should be no hesitation to remove heading from the game.

Stalwarts of last season seem to be going through a crisis of confidence. Why would that be? Tav, Borna, even Goldson look spent, a shadow of themselves. Bassey looks a far better bet than Barisic and Patterson could only be an improvement on a captain who seems to have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Who knew that Balogun would be our most assured and effective central defender? In midfield, neither Kamara nor Davis have been unusually subdued and again the new boy Lundstram looks a far better bet. Aribo seems continually distracted and isn't contributing a fraction of last season's creativity. Scott Wright's early promise seems to have evaporated and up front .... well nuff said. This change didn't happen for no reason, so what is it. Frankly the whole situation smacks of a dressing room problem that's being kept from public view but is nevertheless affecting much of the squad. It's not tactics. No selection, formation or game plan would work with the current attitude. Is it time for Gerrard to sacrifice someone, pour encourager les autres, before he sacrifices the season. -

While injuries, Covid, etc have certainly inhibited his options, I think the challenge for Gerrard is to replace the 2 or 3 players whose poor current form is compromising team performance, even though those players might have been at the heart of our success last season. For example, it's inconceivable to me that Nathan Patterson and Scott Wright are sitting on the bench and that Scott Arfield can't get a game while our midfield misfires game after game. -

Nah, he's already shown he's far better than O'Halloran. -
There was only Allan McGregor standing between Rangers and a very heavy defeat. In my opinion, not a single outfield player acquitted himself well, especially our much-vaunted midfield.

Of course it is but I'm entirely with you on this leap-to-grievance business. We've become so thin skinned that we expect the authorities to wade in every time we hear something we don't like. I think our black players are big enough to shrug this off without intervention from anyone. The Czechs clearly have an outdated attitude to black people but in the end it's their country and if they choose to act like arseholes then so be it. I won't be going there any time soon. -

Correct. The forward players are isolated and toothless because the midfield is pedestrian and one or both fullbacks have been misfiring for weeks. -

There are few things less entertaining than watching passes across the back four as time and hope ebb away. -

There’s been a fragility to our defence with Goldson in it since the season began -

The CL is increasingly just a closed circulation of the same +/-20 core clubs sharing and exchanging the same pool of managers and 500 or so players, with occasional additions to replace those who leave to spend their millions away from the cameras. The chances of Rangers ever breaking back into that elite clubs seem more and more remote.

Could it be whatever was behind his awful performance at the weekend? -
Hmmm .... I'm sure I heard that the Covid passport was what did the protecting and the jabs were just what you did to get the magical passport. Y'know, it's all just so very confusing.
-
By “contracting Covid”, do you mean becoming infected with the virus or developing the disease it causes?
-
It’s inconceivable the current Covid passports will have anything other than a negative effect on the SNP. The decision to delay enforcement has surely been taken for good and entirely selfish reasons. My guess, and it’s only a guess, is that this 2 week “grace period” is an attempt by Sturgeon to transition out of the hole she’s dug herself into. She’s hoping a fortnight from now the infection rates will have fallen to the extent she’ll be able to relax Covid passport requirements to indoor venues only, or like England, to “suspend” them altogether.

Of course it was a penalty.
