  1. I think many fans who were able to build smaller shareholdings might be willing to lend their voting rights on an annual renewable basis, subject to reasonable safeguards, to a core fans' group they trusted, allowing the shareholder to retain control over his/her own shares and to hold the fans' group properly to account ..... the dog wagging the tail for a change.
  2. I keep asking myself the question ......... Is Alfredo not scoring goals like he used to because he's been asked to play a different role or has he been asked to play a different role because he's a valuable asset who's no longer scoring goals? Just where are we with respect to Alfredo and where are we going with him? Because, much as we like him, it's beginning to look like we have better options in either role.
  3. The private sarcasm tutor you hired has added a whole new dimension to your posts. I thought you'd want to know. ?
  4. Great post, full of calm insight. There are a couple of points I'd like to make in response. The first is that I fully empathise with Dave King and the difficulty of executing an exit strategy. It took me five years and eleven attempts to sell what was a very profitable business. I also think he has every right to sell those shares and if he had allowed me the opportunity I might even have been among the fans willing to buy some of them, something I've wanted to do but been denied the opportunity. The second is that I believe the main obstacle in all this has always been Club1872 itself, or whatever previous incarnation of it you choose. I support the club in every way I reasonably can. I buy a season ticket I can't always use even in normal times, I subscribe to RTV, I have a MyGers membership that's all but useless to me, I buy the merchandise. I could afford to contribute to something like Club1872 but I don't and I'm convinced there are many more like me. I agree that a membership of only 7000 is so far below par the only surprise is it hasn't rung alarm bells long ago. I won't give a penny to Club1872, not because I don't like its logo or because I don't want to help safeguard Rangers but because I've always felt uncomfortable about the way it operates, how it interacts with its members, the lack of clarity and detail in its stated objectives. Everyone has to exercise their own judgement about Club1872 but, like its predecessors, for me almost nothing about it feels like something I would want to be involved with. If Club1872 was my business and after all these years I had only 7000 customers, I'd be taking a long and very hard look at myself.
  5. Actually, I didn't make a single accusation and I'm sure the 'ordinary fan' is quite able to discern that. You've been all over this thread from the beginning, trying hard to confront anyone who questions Club1872. If you put more effort into addressing the questions raised, rather than attacking those who raise them it might help your cause. I'm not a member, I don't personally know anyone that is, I've never met this Chris Graham fellow or any of the players. But I am smart enough to be able to look at the information available and come to my own conclusions. At the moment, that conclusion is expressed in my last post. What's your conclusion?
  6. Dundee Utd 0 Rangers 3 FGS - Kent
  7. Europe has been a GPL disaster. Every time I think "draw", Gerrard deliberately thinks "win". He has a lot to answer for.
  8. Anyone defending Club1872's conduct in this affair and holding up the recent podcast as some sort of antidote to suspicion is in denial of what looks like an obvious collusion at the heart of this proposed purchase of King's shares. By far and away the most important aspect of all of this is the dismay and despondency that, after all we've been through, certain individuals in whom many fans put their trust continue to act in the shadows, accepting fans' money without the openness and honesty that surely requires. Further, that if the same people who divided the support for so long are still front and centre in important matters like this, purporting to act for the support, then that speaks volumes for the judgement and credibility of Club1872. Club1872 might be something we want to work but now more than ever trust must be earned and justified, not given away for free. It would be a truly desolate situation if, despite all the crusading rhetoric, Club1872 turned out to be just one more outfit that held the fans in contempt, while being bankrolled by those same fans. However, if Club1872 really did refuse to take part in previous share issues but is now willing to buy King's shares, at no benefit to the club, then there is probably more reason to stop contributing money than increase it. One thing is obvious - something isn't right about this.
  9. It's the tyranny of conformity. I'll take a knee myself when BLM comes out and apologises for defacing our war memorials.
  10. Like the manager keeps saying, we should remain humble, respect whatever team we're drawn against and do our best against them. I'd hate to see us be as conceited in victory as your average Celtic fan.
  11. I’m not sure why it should be any harder. I can see more permits being required.
  12. Zungu fills the Ryan Jack role perfectly.
  13. I’ve been wondering what effect Brexit might have on transfer arrangements for UK clubs?
  14. Have we ever finished top of a group? I might be wrong but I think this would be another first for the club and quite a milestone.
  15. What UEFA should do is take a fresh look at the basic premise that the number of CL slots is dictated by the size of TV audience. Mind you I'm probably biased, I can remember when football was a sport.
  16. It was fairly interesting too but hardly the platform where the big truths were ever going to be revealed. I don't believe you actually think it answered all the questions either?
  17. Another day passes and the parties involved still can't bring themselves to provide an open and honest picture of what's going on with this share sale. It might be a small point but when you're holding your hand out and/or spending other people's money a little transparency might reflect well on you.
  18. The whole thing is utterly bizarre. Almost as strange as thinking this is how society should form and express its morality. I have to believe there are black people out there who think this is as false and corrupt as I do. It's a matter of intellect and unfettered thinking, not skin colour.
  19. It might if you can guarantee the cameras will show it. In reality as far as anyone will ever know, it didn't take place. That's how cancel culture works.
  20. I see the QPR player celebrated his goal against Millwall by taking a knee in front of them and raising a fist. I'm delighted he did because that's certainly going to hasten the end of this ridiculous posturing. Any outfit that defaces war memorials and Churchill's statue bloody well deserves to be boo'ed.
  21. You're no doubt right and it seems an eminently sensible arrangement. Keep the family happy, keep the player happy.
  22. By far the biggest problem for the media, the football authorities and certain players is that for once they can't ignore the dissent from their world view. The thing that's unacceptable about the booing is that they can't control it and you know how they like to be in control. And when they can't control something they're compelled to stamp it out. Cant have the customers' tail wagging the advertisers' dog.
