Match Thread [FT] Kilmarnock 1 - 0 Rangers

I don't think Tillman wanted to remain at Ibrox. It really boils down to that. Anyway, will MB figure out what his best side/formation is before Halloween? -

If only it were that simple. -

Why does the manager allow this? A Rangers team should look to get the ball back into play ASAP and get tore into the opposition - why on Earth do we allow Mr Doesn't Win Trophies to hold play back so he can take a mediocre throw or corner? Why? -

Just back from watching Toulouse beat Roma 2-1 in a friendly. I just wish we could show even 50% of their speed and desire. And that the women who attended our matches looked 50% as good as the burds in the Toulouse end...ooh la la! -

Hard to see what the forwards are supposed to be doing as they rarely get the ball for any period of time. -

Agreed. Two up front, with either Lammers, Hagi or Cantwell in behind them. Lowry isn't as good a player as the three mentioned, which is why he is on loan. I don't think we needed Lammers, as Cantwell looked fine there last season and Hagi is also very capable. -

I'm not pinning much hope on Cifuentes, it was more of an 'aye right' throwaway comment. -

Killie seemed to win every second ball in the middle of the park, which suggests our midfield isn't good enough. 'Powderpuff' is the word that springs to mind. Hopefully Cifuentes is a big upgrade on what we have. -

I think that sums today up. Utter crap. And by the way, Killie had a significant player turnover during the Summer. -

It's becoming a big part of supporting Rangers, sadly. -

Our best player since the last window was on the bench today. I wasn't overly keen on Beale when we appointed him. Then he steadied the ship and I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, pre-season and today has put me back in the 'he's not good enough' camp and it will take a fair old turnaround to change that. His poor tactics and team selection were largely responsible for that lot winning both cups. -

The defence remains much the same and Lundstram started in front of them, so he hasn't ripped it apart, in real terms. -

Well, that was a really disappointing performance. I'll be honest, I'm sick of the sight of Tav and Barisic. What does Dowell bring to the midfield? I don't see anything there at all. We need to sort things out fast if we want to stay in the title race because Celtc beat every other side with ease. -

I'm from the Borders, so I know all about rugby. Regarding the match at Rugby Park - I'm expecting Rangers to make defensive mistakes and to witness a continuation of our teething problems from middle to front but still think we'll win. Allez les bleus (although we'll be wearing one of our change strips, unless Killie wear one)! -

I'll be watching the match in a bar in the South of France, if the local rugby bummers allow it. Fingers crossed... -

Good luck Alex. Hopefully it works out well for the lad and Rangers. -
You know that major sevenths break my bones!

I like to view these types of matches* like Scotland national team matches and see it as a bit of a win/win scenario. Hibs win - good for the coefficient and for Scottish football overall. Hibs lose - makes lots of Rangers hating twats miserable, which is very enjoyable. *Celtc are excluded, for obvious reasons

Sakala gets goals and assists - there's no denying that. -

I'd agree with that but I'm not confident about the latter part. -

Butland Ridvan Souttar Balogun Tav Raskin Dowall Cantwell Lammers Dessers Danilo That's what I'd go with. I hope Cifuentes brings some real presence to the midfield because I still think we're missing something there. As for that back four, I hope none of them are first picks in the near future. First goal is important on Saturday. If we go into the lead, we should get 3 points. If we go behind, I'd be worried about our ability to turn it round against a well-drilled McInnes side. -
Management took him off. No idea if it was precautionary or not.

I was at the Spartans v Rangers B match at Ainslie Park tonight. We won 3-0. It was a straightforward victory and the first goal was a cracker (Fraser, I think). Rice played quite well but I would like to see him moved forward. Lowry scored a penalty and had some nice moments but was also a wee bit cocky at times, I thought, which occasionally resulted in sloppy passes or losing possession.
