Goldson was a guaranteed starter last season and there's no way we're spending £3m on a squad player, so it looks like Katic and Edmundson will be waiting in the wings, unless we play with a back three.

We have some decent CBs and a very good goalie, which allows Tav and Barisic to focus less on their defensive duties. The problem might be keeping the four CBs happy - I doubt any of them want to sit on the bench most weeks. For a midfield five, I'd go: Tav Kamara Barisic Arfield Aribo With Ojo playing just off Morelos or Defoe.

Couldn't agree more. Really looking forward to Thursday. A couple of posters have mentioned the seamless nature of the substitutions, which I agree with. We made 6 or 7 substitutions and the way we played didn't change much, which is really promising. I also noticed Gerrard and Tav smiling when he was subbed and it symbolised the feel good factor we have just now. I think we're all looking forward to this season.

Gerrard will have you for using that phrase! We're going to win 4-0 in every match and that's that.

Marseille never get out of 2nd gear but all things considered, that was a good display and bodes well for the season.

I find the talk of revenge, with regards to Progres, embarrassing. Revenge is taken upon people or parties who have done you wrong. Progres are a small club who deserved to put us out (we were shocking in the away tie). It's not about revenge - it's about getting Rangers back into a respectable position in European football. We're better than that or at least we should be.

Aye, looks like we'll be in Luxembourg on the 1st August. Just checked and there's another team from Luxembourg still playing qualifiers, which means there's a possibility our game there might be moved.

Strangely, I think CB is the one area where we DON'T require a marquee signing. Katic and Goldson are good defenders and Edmundson seems promising.

Ryan Jack is a total waste of a shirt against teams like this. Stick someone who can create or attack on instead.

Dorrans is a decent player and without the injury problems is a similar standard to Arfield, so we've been unlucky there. I don't see it with Murphy. I still think we're lacking a creative player.

At first I was unsure about VAR. Now I really dislike it. I've noticed, speaking to football fans, that people who attend a lot of football matches are far more sceptical about it than those who don't. But people who attend football matches are largely ignored and treated like cattle or criminals, so I doubt we'll be given much of a say.

It's certainly indicative of GCC general incompetence, although I wouldn't say that incompetence is confined to Glasgow. Anyone expecting them to do any favours for RFC will have a long wait.

I really hope VAR is never introduced in Scottish football. It is awful, in general and given the level of our officials, I expect it would be even worse here. You've scored. No you haven't. You might have. Just wait 6 minutes to find out. Cool.
