  1. Was it really only 12 months ago that we witnessed what some of us described as the ââ?¬Ë?worst Rangers team in historyââ?¬â?¢ crawl to 3rd place in the SPL playing terrible football? It seems longer, but I suppose that can be expected after the promises of ââ?¬Ë?moonbeams of successââ?¬â?¢ and ââ?¬Ë?investments that would rock Scottish Footballââ?¬â?¢ from serial liar SDM. In hindsight, and given SDM history of false promises, we should really have known better. It could be argued that this season was just as bad, if not worse than last. PLGââ?¬â?¢s revolution never really got off the ground and whilst Walter Smith has steadied the ship somewhat, watching Rangers isnââ?¬â?¢t really ââ?¬Ë?prime-timeââ?¬â?¢ at the moment ââ?¬â?? although weââ?¬â?¢re expected to pay top dollar for the privilege. Another close season arrives and another mass reapplication for season tickets will follow giving our esteemed leader the belief that we the fans are totally behind him and believe that he is the right man to carry us forward. Oh, weââ?¬â?¢ll have his lap-dogs in the media telling us that he has a new found hunger, a desire to put us back on top, a list of first class signings queuing to sign ââ?¬â?? just to ensure that those of us swithering will give him (another) benefit of the doubt. I am still unsure if Iââ?¬â?¢ll renew, but if I do it will be in spite of SDM not due to another bout of his lies leaked to the press. There is so much wrong with our club at the moment, it is hard to pick out something positive to talk about in the lead up to the last OF game of the season. I suppose the U19ââ?¬â?¢s thrashing their Craptic counterparts in the U19 Cup recently shows that there might be some gems finally coming through the system. Players like Stevie Lennon, Shinnie, Fleck and Perry to name but 4. The U19ââ?¬â?¢s also have a chance to claim the league title which will have been decided when you read this. The latest fan initiative by the RST and fanzines, Rangers First is also worth a mention and going by recent games, especially out-with Ibrox, the first signs are that this is working and the Rangers fans are warming to this initiative and actively encouraging songs without the unnecessary add-ons. However, the major issues that surround the club are still there for all to see and there doesnââ?¬â?¢t appear to be anything coming from the club that would suggest that these will change for the better. The most worrying is the money, or lack off that the manager will receive to rebuild the team in the summer. We urgently need at least 10 players, most of them ââ?¬Ë?startersââ?¬â?¢ but feel weââ?¬â?¢ll be pinning our hopes on players like Gow, Broadfoot and Naismyth (instead of the likes of Brown, Koevermans etc) and if we are, and I hope Iââ?¬â?¢m wrong, weââ?¬â?¢ll be back here in another 12 months wondering where it all went wrong and what if anything will change to make things right again. A New Low

Our club has hit another new low, with the news that the fans who displayed the banner below, were removed from Ibrox for displaying this banner. This comes hot on the heals of the (alledged) lying from larry mcintryre who implied that the fans banned for displaying the 'Don't Vote Labour' banner were banned for 'diaplaying a sectarian banner'. I am really at the end of my tether with those charged with leading OUR club forward. They must be removed for-with. I am seriously considering NEVER returning to Ibrox if Murray, Bain and McIntyre remain. Cammy F
  4. a rare treat for those who will be there! wonder what he'll make of the football! http://www.rangers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,5~1013453,00.html

  6. From Ajax website Ajax will play two friendly matches in Scotland in preparation for the 2007-2008 season. The Amsterdam side will face Glasgow Rangers and Falkirk FC. Ajax will play against Glasgow Rangers in the Ibrox Stadium on Tuesday 24 July. Glasgow Rangers, 51-time champions of Scotland, is the former club of, amongst others, current Ajax youth coach Frank de Boer. Currently, familiar names such as Thomas Buffel and Dado Prso(unfortunately not) are on the teamlist of the Gers, who are managed by Walter Smith and his assistant Ally McCoist. Ajax willl face the Scottish powerhouse at 8 p.m. local time.
  7. Not really any suprises, bet it was a hell of a night for Prso though !!

  9. ..Wee bit of fun. But if you could wave a magic wand and pick 1 foreign keeper, defender, midfielder, winger and striker from the last 10 years to re-join the current side who would it be and why? Equally 1 scottish keeper, defender, midfielder, winger and striker and why?? My choices: Foreigners:Keeper - Niemi - We cant have Klos as he is still at Ibrox, so Niemi. IMO he was at us at a time where we had the best keepers around. Defender - Numan - absolute class act at LB and a leader / role model. Midfielder - Most difficult choice. The obvious 3 or 4 are Gio, De Boer Gazza and Albertz. But its Albertz for me to solve our left sided problem - 20+ goals a season and shots from everywhere - just what our team needs. He would walk straight in!!! Winger - Laudrup! no contest from the Greatest ever Ger IMO. Forward - A pre-injury Michael Mols hands down!! Scots: Keeper - No brainer The Goalie enough said Defender - Same - Gough, legend and rock solid centre half who led by example, also scored goals. Midfielder - McCall - We could be done with the engine man digging in and winning tackles then realising it. Winger - McCann - Underrated IMO and he couldnt half cross a ball. He had loads of pace and could chip in with the goals aswell Striker - Durie - Pips McCoist as Ally was at the end of his career 10 years ago. Jute Box was a more all round player and weighed in with a fair amount of goals.
  10. Mmm, not sure if he will be with us next season. I actually hope he is as I still think he is one player who has skill, pace and can create many chances for us IF he is used properly.
  11. Its one of those typical, standard interviews from a fed-up player or more likely his agent. Maybe he will be for the off after all to boost the transfer kitty? That might make sense with Weir being first choice and us having a few candidates who could come in alongside him. Besides, if Webster is going to cost us £500,000 or so, we could pay for him from Svensson's fee and have money to spare. Taken from the Daily R*cord:
  12. From FF regarding yesterday's meeting. Rangers 'Til I Die is the theme By Mark Dingwall Sunday 8th April 2007 At a meeting on Saturday 68 Rangers supporters clubs pledged to swing behind a campaign to improve the atmosphere at games and stop the current witch-hunt against the club by our enemies. Putting our own house in order was the theme of the day at the mass meeting called by the Nithsdale Rangers Supporters Club in the "Wee Rangers" social club. In a full and frank two hour meeting numerous speakers for the 100+ attendees pledged their support to rid the support of chants which bring no credit on the club, provide our enemies with ammunition and are leading us towards a UEFA ban. Instead of the usual preaching Big Brother attitude the club itself displays the supporters clubs represented want to see positive support for the team - and instead of grassing phone lines and booing other fans they want the support to belt out traditional club anthems and the "Rangers 'Til I Die" chant when the *** stuff that is causing us problems starts. There was a tremendously positive sense of unity throughout the meeting with every club and supporters organisation represented - Assembly, Association, Blue Order, West Enclosure Loyal, etc - pushing towards solving the problems ourselves in our own way. Billy Montgomery chaired the meeting and made the very simple point - at the moment the solution to our problem is still in our own hands - but if we don't get our act together quickly then the club faces not only severe fines but the closing of stands at Ibrox. No-one with the best interests of Rangers can tolerate that happening. From the floor of the meeting it was repeated time and again that the club's problems were exacerbated by poor PR, the disorganisation associated with the Travel Club and the attitude displayed by our own security advisor and directors. At the same time other speakers noted that campaigning on any or all of these issues did not mean we needed to stand silent about getting rid of the problems the *** Brigade are causing us. Time and again speakers used the examples of the Northern Ireland support and the England support who have cleaned up their acts. Ayrshire Billy Boy expanded on his experience at the recent England game in Barcelona. It can be done and it will be done. All the club reps agreed to go back to their buses and spread the word - it was also agreed that leaflets be produced to get the message about the positive support needed in the coming months to fans who travel independently to games home and away - volunteers will be needed for leaflet distribution at Ibrox as well as on buses traveling to the games. The time for pussyfooting is over and positive action is going to be taken to stop us facing a doomsday scenario. The tone of the meeting was loud and clear: the things that are causing us problems are going to be eradicated and if it disenfranchises those that think their right to shout "***" is of greater importance than the wellbeing of Rangers FC then so be it.

    Dire times

We have to be honest and real now, the last 3 years have produced the worst Rangers sides that I have seen (the older posters may think different) and 2 title wins in the last day of the season has kept Celtic from being on 7 in a row and in the other 5 seasons they have won the league by huge margins. That is saying something!! This is the 2nd season in a row without a trophy and that for Rangers is a disaster considering the League Cup is a diddy cup and Gretna can manage a Scottish Cup final appearance while being a 2nd division side. The amount of players who have been in and out of Ibrox in the last few years is enough to set up a league in a small country, and some didnt even kick a ball like that Italian. We arent going to get stability like that but it seems that certain players were preferred all the time even if there form was shoddy and they simply cant be dropped. Even when one of our managers tried to drop a player in poor form he ends up out the door - thats the sort of stuff you couldnt make up and is a journalists dream. The other thing is we dont seem to play players in their preferred positions hence once again meaning we are going to struggle. In the past we have had a few great playmakers being the link from midfield to frontmen. Gascoigne and De Boer were in a different class at doing this and we admit we wont see this type of player with us again for a long time. But when we do get a few players in this role with a hint of talent they are not given the chance. Im talking about Namouchi, Lovenkrands and Buffel here. Lovenkrands shined in the european stage and in Old firm games and had pace to scare defenders but he was deployed on the wing most of the time. Namouchi was thrown out on the wide right or left depending what number McLeish drew him out of the hat and Buffel was the same. Since Smith has came in he has steadied the ship and made us hard to beat and score against. He did well in january singing two solid defenders and at the moment we are top of the form table and closed the huge gap on Celtic. Things are looking better at the back but in midfield and upfront we are still absolute rank rotten bar 1 or 2 players. I'll give Smith the benefit of the doubt as he only had a few weeks in January to buy players, but come the summer Im hoping for the same improvements in the others areas of the squad but buys like Gow wont convince me.
  15. Was played at Ibrox today and i pooped along and wathced the game along with my friend who is a Celtic fan :admin: Anyway here is the report from the Official site Fleck looked very good but his challenge was shocking, Furman and Lennon were very impressive . The whole defense had a comftable game with Utd only having one chance. Djeziri looked no bad when he came on and was show boating a bit . Not a bad game and the team looks very good Anyone else go
  16. After another appalling and heartless performance at Ibrox on Saturday I read with interest that many fans felt booing wasnââ?¬â?¢t suitable and that we should be supporting the players as opposed to criticising them so publicly. In addition to that, there were further complaints of the general atmosphere being poor as well as the usual complaints about the ââ?¬Ë?Subway Loyalââ?¬â?¢ leaving early. Generally, one can understand these points of view but I think the prevailing reason for such differences of opinion is merely another symptom of the Rangers family breakdown. After another season of disappointment and under-achievement, player/club/fan relationships have never been so strained. Perhaps itââ?¬â?¢s one symptom of such declining communications but it really is becoming incredibly hard for the fans to find anything to relate to and indeed support per se. In decades past, players were fans and lived similar lives to the support. Football wasnââ?¬â?¢t so glamorous and the money was nothing special. Hero worship was evident but not to the extent it is today. As European competitions begun and the TV and mass media started to take a real interest, profiles began to rise and higher reputations increased egos dangerously. From the Jim Baxterââ?¬â?¢s to the Willie Johnstoneââ?¬â?¢s star quality was now part and parcel of a Rangers footballerââ?¬â?¢s life. As we approached the 21st Century the TV finance boom and the subsequent worldwide exposure of that and the internet meant footballers were front page icons and loved by people all over the world. The Ally McCoist and Paul Gascoigne age started to take the players out of the reach of the fellow fan. Annual wages were now millions of pounds not thousands and fans werenââ?¬â?¢t as important as the agent or journalistic friend. The Bosman rule was next and money really started to take hold of our game. Not only that, it wasnââ?¬â?¢t just Scotsmen playing for Rangers but players from all over the world ââ?¬â?? many whom couldnââ?¬â?¢t even speak English never mind understand our traditions and history. As such, with every passing year attitudes and relationships are changing. Who are our Rangers heroes nowadays? Barry Ferguson ââ?¬â?? a captain who doesnââ?¬â?¢t appear to be a leader? Dado Prso ââ?¬â?? a likeable chap whose career is all but finished? Nacho Novo ââ?¬â?? well he did say no to Celtic 3 years ago? Will we even have any great players next year? The kind of ability, charisma and pride that makes a player a Rangers legend certainly seems in short supply nowadays. At the same time, these players are further from our reach. Increased technology and the problems that can bring means they are not allowed to attend RSC functions. VIP lounges means we canââ?¬â?¢t even buy them a pint and have a chat in our local pubs and clubs. Even when we do, we canââ?¬â?¢t understand what their life is like just as they canââ?¬â?¢t understand ours. Even the most average of players can earn more in a month that even the most skilled of us do in a year. Never have we been so far apart at the most basic of levels. Ergo, do the players really care when we boo them? Do they even care when we cheer them? Similarly, can kissing the badge or the odd fleeting gesture appease us? What about other figures at the club? An owner and chairman now semi-retired in France leaving an ill-equipped non-Rangers man to do a job he obviously struggles with. Even the so-called Rangers men still around prefer to lie and cover their bossââ?¬â?¢s tracks instead of standing up for the very people that loved them so much in years and eras long gone. Has the game changed so much that our greatest ever players are silent while our fans are kicked from pillar to post by sensationalist figures in the media? Or, like their fellow modern players, does the pound come before loyalty to the people who pay their wages? All this is rather depressing but itââ?¬â?¢s also realistic and relevant. Last week our chairman appeared from nowhere to again plead with a small section of our fans to stop letting the club down. Of course he is right ââ?¬â?? the club should take priority over everything else. ââ?¬Ë?Rangers Firstââ?¬â?¢ is the admirable message. Perhaps the chairman and some of the highly paid strangers now at our club could use that ethos themselves. Then we might just be more of the family they often talk about enabling us to face the many challenges ahead of us as a bonded unit instead of a divided and despondent one.

  18. Liverpool midfielder Boudewijn Zenden admits his future is up in the air, amid reports of a return to PSV Eindhoven. The Dutchman's contract expires at the end of the season and he has been linked with a move back to his first club. He could line up against PSV on Tuesday, as Liverpool face the Dutch champions in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final. But regarding a potential return to Philips Stadion, Zenden concedes he is currently unsure what will happen in the summer. "I'm 30 and I feel I've got a lot of years to go," Zenden told The Independent on Sunday. "I feel fit, I feel good. "I'm aware they (PSV) wanted to get more Dutch players in their squad with a certain level as well. "I haven't spoken to anybody. "It's nice to hear, but it's something you leave at that. "My contract is up in the summer and we haven't discussed yet what will happen. "I'm open to everything. But I'm a professional who wants to win things." A player i would like to see at Ibrox
  19. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/rstsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=96&Itemid=1 http://www.rangers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,5~1004155,00.html RANGERS' supporters groups today announced the launch of a major 'self-policing' initiative in a continued effort to eradicate sectarian behaviour. The groups, with the full agreement of the Club, intend to immediately undertake a range of self-policing measures in an attempt to isolate and shame so-called 'fans' who are 'bringing the Club into serious disrepute'. It was agreed last night that Supporters' groups will self police at domestic away matches until the end of the season and will then meet the Club to review the behaviour at these away games. If there is unsatisfactory behaviour at domestic away matches then the suspension of ticket allocations for away games in Europe will be considered jointly. Rangers and the supporters' groups have been engaged in positive and productive talks since the UEFA Cup match against Osasuna in Pamplona on March 14. Following their latest meeting this week, Rangers Chairman Sir David Murray, Chief Executive Martin Bain, the Board of the Club and supporters' organisations agreed the following joint statement: "The match in Pamplona turned out to be a watershed for the Club and supporters. At that game, Rangers encountered the poorest safety and security arrangements for a match for many years which gave the Club deep concern for the welfare of supporters there to enjoy the game. "The poor arrangements led to questionable policing and shambolic segregation that was clearly visible to all attending the game and those watching on TV. "This Club knows better than most the tragic consequences that can result at football matches and we believe the arrangements in Osasuna were a recipe for disaster. We continue to pursue this matter with UEFA in the strongest terms. "We accept there were a small number of so-called Rangers fans who let themselves and the Club down during this match and we condemn them out of hand. That said, much of the distress and injury suffered by many supporters could have been prevented. "Quite rightly, clubs in the UK have to adhere to the strictest safety regulations and it is disappointing to see this is not the case in countries which are regarded as advanced footballing nations. "We are grateful for the support of the First Minister, MPs and MSPs who have expressed their concern at events on the night and have agreed to raise the matter through appropriate channels. "Regrettably, we also witnessed sectarian singing at the Pamplona match by some of our fans and we are united in our condemnation of this. It is deeply disappointing since we have achieved so much on sectarian behaviour, particularly at Ibrox this season. "We all agree that we still have some way to go on this issue and we are very grateful to the fans who have embraced the Club's Pride Over Prejudice policies. "We are agreed that the strongest possible action should be taken by the Club and supporters against people who continue to indulge in sectarian behaviour. This kind of behaviour will simply result in a doomsday scenario for the Club and the vast majority of fans. "Since Pamplona, we have held exhaustive and constructive talks on finding the best way forward. It is clear to everyone that the future of fan behaviour lies in the fans' own hands and real improvement in fan behaviour will work best through self-policing. "This, of course, will be done in addition to the stringent policing and stewarding measures already enforced by the Club and the police. "The issue of ticket allocations for away matches has been discussed at length. Although this sends out a strong message to those who let the Club down, it was agreed that, in general, it is not the people who use Rangers ticket allocations who cause the most problems. "However, we will review this position again at the end of this season. We remain deeply concerned at Clubs willingly selling tickets to fans at away matches in Europe on the day of the game. fans in osasuna"This is a matter we will be raising again with UEFA and with clubs Rangers may play in Europe next season. We do not want Rangers fans to travel to away European matches without officially endorsed tickets. "There is complete unity between the supporters groups and the Club. We agree there are people who refuse to come on board with our anti-sectarian campaign who are bringing the Club's reputation to the brink of ruin. "The supporters have pledged to do everything in their power to isolate and shame these people. It is time for everyone to move on. They cannot and will not be allowed to spoil the enjoyment and pride so many take from being part of the Rangers family. "Our message to them is clear - come on board and show pride in yourselves and your Club. Remember what being a real Rangers supporter is all about. It is about setting standards that should be the envy of clubs around the world. "Collectively we will also work together to devise a code of conduct for Rangers supporters which we hope to develop into a fans' charter. "This work will go on over the next few weeks. We intend to present this to UEFA who may wish to use it as a guide for good practice, as they have done with the work we have done on racism. "This has been a difficult time for Rangers over the past few weeks but we feel now we can go forward together. "There is a renewed determination to eradicate sectarianism and the supporters have an opportunity to demonstrate that this great club - whose pedigree is respected throughout Europe - has a great support that does the Club proud." The measures to be undertaken include: > Supporters groups to issue anti-sectarian guidance to all supporters clubs > Anti-sectarian messages to be featured on all possible websites including Follow Follow fanzine > Supporters groups and the club to urge fans not to travel to away matches without officially endorsed tickets > The Club will undertake a major review of the Rangers Travel Club operations > Supporters to inform fans on songs and chants that 'do Rangers proud' > Code of conduct to be produced by supporters for supporters > Players to deliver anti-sectarian messages to supporters' clubs "Supporters' representatives and the Club agreed at the start of the season a list of songs in the Wee Blue Book and we would urge fans to focus on these at all matches." Signatories: Jim Templeton, President,The Rangers Supporters Assembly Jackie Robertson, Secretary, The Rangers Supporters Assembly Alex Milree, Scottish Delegate, The Rangers Worldwide Alliance Roddie Maclean, Scottish Delegate, The Rangers Worldwide Alliance Ryan McNamee, Scottish Delegate, The Rangers Worldwide Alliance Mark Dingwall, The Rangers Supporters Trust Jim Kirk, The Rangers Supporters Association Sir David Murray, Chairman, Rangers Football Club Martin Bain, Chief Executive, Rangers Football Club
  20. Blackburn defender Zurab Khizanishvili has revealed he would love to return to Rangers later in his career. The Georgian moved from Rangers to Rovers in 2005, initially joining on loan and later signing a permanent deal. He insists he is relishing every minute of life in the Premiership but admits he has unfinished business in Scotland. "I would love to come back and play for Rangers," he told Rangers News. "I am only 25 and I don't want to think too far ahead yet but in the coming years I would love to return to Ibrox. "It's obviously not just up to me, the manager would have to want me too but it is something I would like to see happen very much. "I love Scotland, I love Rangers and I love the fans." Khizanishvili left Rangers after falling down the pecking order under then manager Alex McLeish. He recalled: "It was a difficult decision to leave because I was very happy in Glasgow, I had a lot of friends and I really loved playing for the club."
  21. As I watched the NI v Sweden game on TV last night (well, if WS and Ally can scout on Healy, then so can I ) I was very impressed by the atmosphere created by the NI fans. They supported their nation from start to finish and guess what, not one 'sectarian' or 'cultural' song was sung. If NI fans can manage this and turn Windsor Park into a loud and intimidating stadium, surely we can do the same at Ibrox? It wasn't long ago that NI fans would regularly sing the sash (with add ons) and other 'cultural songs', but no more. Linfield have also moved on and in fact, there was a fantastic article on them in Scotland On Sunday proir to this season friendly (I posted this on the old site). Could Rangers supporters groups like TBO, RST, Assembly etc contact both NI and Linfield to find out how they managed to 'move on' whilst improving the match day experience? Lessons that we could learn from? Cammy F
  22. Good news for us, i really didnt want him at Ibrox. A decent player for Motherwell but thats it. He done his job for us on helicopter sunday. I actually wonder what the tim reaction is to this.
  23. Just confirmed for 28th July at Ibrox Stadium
  24. All this Rangers have a sectarian problem nonsense in the mhedia is really getting on my goat. The papers and radio keep going on about Rangers having a problem and highlighting anything they can to get Rangers into trouble. to be honest i dont know another country where the countrys media would actively compaign to get one of there top footballing sides banned from europe and then celebrate if they accomplished their goal. I think the mhedia have to realise most clubs have at least one offensive song which will offend a certain type of person, there are also clubs in which the supporters will fight to the death if they get there chance who will through lit flairs at players attempting to burn them alive. What do Uefa do to these clubs sweet FA, i think UEFA should take a long hard look at itself if its gonna punish rangers it should punish all clubs involved in such activitys even those in the so called european footballing super powers. Rangers should IMO not pay any fines or shut any part of the ground until UEFA show that they are being fair by punishing other clubs involved in similar activities. The mhedia if really worried about sectarianism should highlight Celtics problems as well as rangers and also other clubs in Scotland involved in such singing i have heard the billy boys sang at hearts and kilmarnock why is there no talk of taking points off them? Simple our mhedia have an anti rangers policy and thus Murray should ban those involved from Ibrox for life!
  25. Thomas Buffel has revealed his intention to quit Rangers and ply his trade in a stronger league. The 26-year-old is under contract at Ibrox through 2009, but is keen to move on, possibly as early as the summer. Buffel, who was close to joining Hannover in January, will not feature for The Gers again this season after undergoing knee surgery. "I have played more than 80 games for Rangers over the past two years and I have won the league and League Cup," Buffel said in the Daily Record. "But I still have the ambition to play my football in a stronger league. "I had the chance to play in the Bundesliga in January and I could have earned more money there than I do in Scotland. "But I felt that I should not start out with a new club when I am not fully fit. "Had the situation been different I might have moved although there was a real chance that Rangers might not have let me go." Meanwhile, Buffel is disappointed with how things have gone for him since Walter Smith took over from Paul Le Guen. He added: "Sometimes your career depends on details. I rated Paul Le Guen very highly. "But when Walter Smith succeeded him, the train departed straight away."
