  1. Because of the short break work started on Monday to returf the park, about time it was in an awful state, hope it improves our game
  2. ....To Man City Hope he does well and gets back to regular good football. He was a player I liked at Ibrox but after Advocaat subbed him at parkhead things went downhill for him. Then he got his injury. I dont know how well he did at PSV - Im sure Pete can inform us on that
  3. Heard he is suspended for the next OF game on March 11. That means the first time we can boo him will be at Ibrox in the last OF game of the season, meaning he gets 40 odd thousand boo's rather than 7 thousand
  4. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6354263.stm I liked his as a player, didn't always perform week in week out but always had a few tricks up his sleeve. Anyone remember the wee 360 degrees spin he did at Ibrox down at the touchline or when he stood on the ball to look for a free player?
  5. WALTER Smith could be set to hand Stefan Klos a dramatic return for Rangers at Rugby Park this Sunday. The German keeper, who has made only three SPL starts in two years, may have to replace injured No.1 Allan McGregor. McGregor missed the Scotland gathering at Turnberry to have intensive treatment at Murray Park for a groin injury. It's understood he would have been forced to sit on the sidelines had Rangers still been involved in the Scottish Cup at the weekend, but the extra week has given him hope of recovering in time. advertisement Klos made himself a huge favourite with the Ibrox legions before a string of injuries, and a loss of form, made it impossible for him to win his place back. McGregor has put in some fine displays so far this season and has been rewarded with a Scotland call-up, so he'll want to keep his first team place. It's believed Smith has no problem with bringing Klos back, but will back McGregor if he can convince the Rangers medical department he is fit. Meanwhile, Rangers' Euro rivals Hapoel Tel Aviv have not been slow to replace axed boss Yitzhak Schum. The new boss is Nir Levin, and that could be good news for Smith. Former Dundee United player Jan Telesnikov said: "The change of manager won't do them any good. "They've succeeded in getting rid of a very popular coach who had great success with Panathinaikos, leading them to a Greek league and cup double before coming home. "The Hapoel fans loved Schum and have been standing up for him all season with some dirty tricks politics going on behind the scenes. "Levin is a younger coach who has been out of work for some time. I just don't see how he can have any impact in the short space of time before the Rangers matches." In another surprise, Gers flop Julien Rodriguez, who quit for Marseille during the transfer window, has been called into the France squad as cover for the injured Philippe Mexes for tomorrow's game with Argentina. Publication date 06/02/07 This will make Gribz happy.
  6. After reading the Rangers ICF book, Mike Galloways claims that Ibrox was his fave ground due to the electric atmosphere and think back to the 'good old days', is it fair to say that the Rangers fans have gone 'soft'? Now, I do not mean that in a 'violent' way, I just mean that teams, players and officials are no longer intimidated at Ibrox. Last Saturday, the officials were shit, but there was only a few minor boos directed at them, even when the goal was chopped off. There is no atmosphere at Ibrox either (TBO apart), no rousing singing or chanting etc. Now, I am not advocating attacking refs / lino's at the game, in their houses or their kids at school, leave that to Timmy, but surely its time make Ibrox the fortress it once was. Adda Djeziri

http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1861_1888090,00.html Rangers have signed Danish striker Adda Djeziri on loan from BK Frem until the end of the season, when they may strike a permanent deal. The 18-year-old was recruited before the transfer window closed on Wednesday night, it has emerged, and will now have the chance to earn a permanent move to Ibrox. Djeziri said: "It's a big club. Everything about the club is good and it works well for everyone, so I am very pleased." The low-profile deal may not have an immediate impact on the first team, but Rangers will be hoping that Djeziri does enough to justify a long-term stay in Glasgow. Previous Danes to have enjoyed success at Ibrox include Brian Laudrup and Peter Lovenkrands. BK Frem head coach Anders Theil said: "It is of course a shame that we won't have Adda here this spring, but he has the chance to prove himself in Scotland. "It's good for Adda, and he could join Rangers after the loan period and BK Frem could receive some money." Theil said: "He's got good potential and he's a very quick player, but he is still young. "I don't think he will be near the first team in the first half year, although they have the option to buy him in the summer." Meanwhile Rangers are in no rush to sign Falkirk striker Alan Gow to a pre-contract agreement. They confirmed to Falkirk last week, after having three bids for the 24-year-old rejected, that it was their intention to bring Gow to Ibrox in the summer. With Gow in the final six months of his contract, Rangers are entitled to talk with the player, however a club spokesman confirmed that nothing was imminent. This went by without anything being said and not on the official site. Is it true or just another website rumour.
  8. me and the missus are coming up from down south to watch the uefa cup match at ibrox, we're both students and wondering if the concession tickets are for students or not? any help would be great cheers Jonny

In Kevin Thomson's first interview he explained how he heard a rumour at Ibrox that if you couldnt do the bouncy u were a tim, he then decided to sign for Rangers as he was more than capable of doing a bouncy Oh if ye canny dae the bouncy...
  10. Whereas Im happy Walter is back at Ibrox it leaves the national team looking for a replacement and it will be difficult to follow in Smiths footsteps. Some of the names mentioned and thrown up will be: Alex McLeish - Possibly but i wouldnt want Andy Watson near Hampden Graeme Souness - Probably my 1st choice Kenny Dalglish - Not sure Tommy Burns - Maybe deserves a crack at it Craig Levein - No Jim Jefferies - No George Graham - Id accept him Joe Jordan - Possibly a good choice for assistant Craig Brown - If everyone else didnt want it David Moyes - Wouldnt leave Everton Anyone else?
  11. SOCCEROO Jason Culina has been linked with a pound stg. 1million ($2.53million) move to Scottish giant Rangers, where compatriots Craig Moore and Tony Vidmar became household names. The Glasgow club has lost midfielder Jeremy Clement to Paris St Germain, leaving a void to be filled at Ibrox and Culina is keen to go. "Rangers are a massive club and, if their interest is genuine, I am flattered," Culina said. "It really is up to the clubs but I would like to play in the UK one day. However, I'm contracted to PSV (Eindhoven) for 18 months and I am committed to the cause." The 26-year-old is struggling to break into the first team at the Dutch league leader, starting in only a handful of matches this term. PSV spokesman Pedro Salazar-Hewitt played down the reports, saying no contact had been made between the two clubs. "I am normally made aware when something like this happens," Salazar-Hewitt said. "This is the first I've heard of it." Culina's British agent Dean Sheehan said the dogged midfielder would suit the British game. "If you're asking if Jason is what Rangers need right now then the answer is yes," Sheehan said. "The fans would love him, he'd score goals and fight for everything. (But) any sale is entirely up to PSV." Australian players have thrived in the Scottish Premiership. As well as Moore and Vidmar - who played 279 games between them at Rangers - Mark Viduka was voted Scottish Premier League player of the year in 1998 after scoring 27 goals in his first full season at Celtic. Culina was this week named alongside Viduka in a strong 20-man Socceroos squad for next month's friendly against Denmark in London, but is in doubt due to the impending birth of his first child. Fellow World Cup star Mark Bresciano could also miss the match, as his wife is also expecting their first child around the time of the match. AAP Del.
  12. Pitch Inspection Planned DUE to the recent adverse weather conditions there will be a pitch inspection at Ibrox at 8.30am tomorrow morning to decide whether the SPL clash with Dundee United can go ahead. We will bring you further news on http://www.rangers.co.uk as soon as we have it. Del.

  14. http://www.gersnet.info/fmrangers/newmain/110107.html First of all I think itââ?¬â?¢s quite important that we keep an element of perspective in this article. Not many Rangers fans like Bain in a personal way and that can often cloud judgement when it comes to the job he does. Martin Bain first joined Rangers in 1996 serving under former commercial manager Bob Reilly. At that time football was in the midst of a commercial explosion; TV money was high even in Scottish football and other opportunities were there to be grasped because of that huge media exposure. As a result, Bain ââ?¬â?? like other members of the commercial team ââ?¬â?? can say he was partly responsible for bringing in the large amounts of money to the club in those heady days. Because of his relatively young age in those days ââ?¬â?? he was 29 when he joined the club ââ?¬â?? Bainââ?¬â?¢s potential was spotted early by the senior staff. Although not having a background in football his good work in the commercial arm helped him secure the (rather vague and general) post of ââ?¬Ë?Director of Football Businessââ?¬â?¢ in late 2002 ââ?¬â?? a year after being appointed to the Rangers board. Of course that season really saw the Rangers financial downsizing begin in earnest. Although Mikel Arteta joined the club for a near Ã?£6million, Rangers fans started to see the influx of below average Bosman players such as Kevin Muscat ââ?¬Ë?complimentââ?¬â?¢ the squad. Alex McLeish was the manager and it was soon obvious that he, and Bain to be fair, would have a difficult job on their hands delivering success to the restraints of a club trying to ship excess baggage to attain an even financial keel. To that end, they were reasonably successful. McLeish delivered 7 trophies and Martin Bain made some difficult decisions to ensure Rangers (as of their 2005/06 accounts) were back almost into the black. Of course both still suffered for their thankless work. McLeish couldnââ?¬â?¢t achieve real consistency, and, as the Ibrox Scrooge, Bain was the ultimate supportersââ?¬â?¢ scapegoat of an unimaginative board and a chairman who had disappeared for a few years and lacked the ambition of his initial spell. In February 2005, nine years after his first arrival at Ibrox, Bain was appointed Rangersââ?¬â?¢ 4th Chief Executive. David Holmes was the first such employee and no-one can forget the club-changing work he did under the Marlborough administration. Since then, the club has had another 2 such CEOââ?¬â?¢s - Alan Montgomery and Bob Brannan (now the chairman of Dundee). Both perhaps had it easier than Bain working in less stressful times. Unfortunately, it was around this time that Bain was starting to make mistakes that this high-profile job couldnââ?¬â?¢t afford. Dragan Mladenovic, Jose Pierre-Fanfan and Olivier Bernard were just 3 examples of players that had to be paid off their lucrative contracts. Meanwhile rumours of staff fall-outs were rife. Retail director Nick Peel, long time club secretary Campbell Ogilvie and Youth manager George Adams were all moved on in quick succession amid rumours of disagreements with Bain. In more recent times, Bain has also been seen as incompetent in other areas. On holiday in the Alps while Paul le Guen and Barry Ferguson had their much publicised fall out and failing to get any sort of fee for players on the transfer list. Bainââ?¬â?¢s biggest detractors point to the success of Celtic and specifically their CEO ââ?¬â?? Peter Lawwel ââ?¬â?? as the main evidence for his failure. Continuing and unacceptable media problems, continued transfer market underperformance and continued poor relationships with his staff and our fans are all a marked contrast to Lawwel ââ?¬â?? who has to operate under the same financial restrictions and in the same market as Bain. In the last year we have seen 2 managers sacked from Rangers. The last 2 seasons have also delivered no trophies to our club. That is wholly unacceptable and that underperformance can be attributed to the mistakes and incompetence of Martin Bain. Sure, could be argued that, in the same way as the departing managers, he has suffered from a lack of backing from a chairman who seems to lack the fight and ambition for the challenges we face. However, our now infecund owner canââ?¬â?¢t be sacked which leaves the right hand man he groomed for the job. Mistakes have been rife and success has disappeared. Martin Bain should no longer be the Rangers Chief Executive. Now, is the time to make that change.
  15. The Ibrox club are believed to have offered £100,000 to the Bairns for the in-form, versatile 24-year-old who is also wanted by Wolverhampton Wanderers. "This season is vital for the club, and it's crucial we have at our disposal all our current resources including Alan," said a Falkirk statement. Meanwhile, the Bairns have signed Manchester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel until the end of the season. Gow, who can also play in midfield, was on target in Falkirk's 2-0 Scottish Cup win at Berwick Rangers and hit a hat-trick against Dundee United on 1 January. "Supporters should realise that there are a large number of clubs who appear to be interested in securing Alan's services and there will no doubt be further discussions during the transfer window," the statement continued. Dane Schmeichel, 20, was recommended to Falkirk by City boss Stuart Pearce, who is a former team-mate of Bairns assistant head coach Brian Rice.
  16. WALTER SMITH is the new manager of Rangers. Smith's appointment has just been confirmed and he will be joined in the dug-out by Light Blue legend, Ally McCoist, who also makes the move from the Scottish national team to become Rangers' new assistant manager, and Kenny McDowall, the former Celtic reserve boss, who becomes first-team coach. The new management team's first match in charge will be at Ibrox this Saturday against Dundee United, ironically the team where it all started for Smith. A club statement reads: Rangers Football Club today (Wednesday January 10, 2007) confirmed Walter Smith, Ally McCoist and Kenny McDowall as the new Management Team. Walter, who first joined in 1986 as Graeme Souness' assistant before guiding Rangers to its historic Nine In A Row triumph, returns as Manager while Ally joins as Assistant Manager and Kenny completes the new-look backroom team as First-Team Coach. Chairman Sir David Murray commented: "It is a great pleasure to welcome Walter and Ally back to Rangers Football Club. I have great respect for both men and their achievements and I am convinced they will take the Club forward. "I would also like to extend a special welcome to Kenny. He has a terrific track record as a coach and will undoubtedly enhance our new Management Team." Smith, who has transformed Scotland's National side and managed Everton since leaving Ibrox in 1998, has signed a three-year contract with the Club. He commented: "I am delighted to return to Rangers as Manager. This Club has always been in my blood and I can't wait to get started. "I am looking forward to teaming up with Ally and Kenny. I worked side by side with Ally during our time with the National team and I am also delighted Kenny has agreed to join us at Ibrox." McCoist, the Club's record marksman with an incredible 355 goals in 581 appearances between 1983 and 1998, stated: "It was a privilege to pull on the Rangers jersey for so many years but I am delighted to return as Assistant Manager. "I was honoured to be named in the Greatest Ever Rangers Team and included in the Club's Hall of Fame but this is something really special. I know the Club inside out and I am ready for the challenge." McDowall, the former St Mirren and Partick Thistle striker who has a proven track record as a youth coach with Celtic FC, commented: "This is an exciting new chapter in my life and I am relishing the chance to team up with Walter and Ally at Rangers. "Working at Murray Park on a daily basis will also be a real thrill." Press Conference shortly.
  17. A friend of mine (a poster from this board) rang me today to see if I fancied going down to Ibrox to se WS being unveiled. Being a lazy student, with no classes today I agreed. Despite warning my mate that I didn't beleive he would be at Ibrox. (Needed to pick up a top from the Club shop anyway so didn't mind). Anyway we waited outside in the relative cold for a good hour, from about 14.50. An old boy in a club tie/blazer regulalry came out to chat to the fans and let them know what was going on. We were stood too far awya to know what was going on, but if the people being spoken to where hanging about then we assumed it woldn't be long. Anyway asked a fellow fan and he confirmed WS would be on his way after Murray Park's media scrum. After aproximately an hour, Lawrence McIntyre (at least I think it was him) came out to give us the news that all business was to be completed at Murray Park. I was a bit miffed by this, but the McIntrye asked if we'd all been on the tour before inivting us all into the stadium to go out through the tunnel. Well I've never been on the tour so getting to go in through the front door, seeing the inside of Ibrox, going out through the tunnel, sitting on the home bench and having my picture taken where the media do post match interviews.... loved it. just wanted to say that maybe LM isn't as bad as all make out. You can only go on your own experiences and from mine he was a decent bloke. Had a wee joke on the pitch that we couldn't tell anyone or we'd ruin his reputation. Far play to the guy. He has a sense of humour too. Also one fan asked him if it was true the Hapoel tel-aviv game would be played in Cyprus to which LM confirmed probably after he "kicked up hell at the meeting on monday". (Not a direct quote but words to that effect). Good on him again, actuallly protecting the Rangers fans for once, despite previous form of which I do not know about.
  18. I think all that is coming out now Shows PLG was was indeed fighting dressing room cliques. Unfortunatly the instigator seems to be getting away with it. If Murray knew this then it is diabolical that he never backed his manager.
  19. i realise their is another thread about this subject, but i want to let it be known that there are a Majority of fans out here who ALWAYS wanted this appointment and i believe we should all rally round our great new manager and his team. Its time to win back the scottish game from celtic and there is no better appointment that could have been made than the great Walter Smith. There has been grumblings from a SMALL, insignificant section of the support about how the appointment has been made, but if your a true blue then you wont even think about that, you will get behind Smith and Mccoist from the start until we win back the title from them. I urge fans of Rangers f.c not to listen to these Smith knockers or doubters as they really only have one intention at heart and this to see Rangers to continue failing in everything they do. Walter and Ally will bring us back the league given time and we must also start to do our job now and get behind their sellection every saturday. I welcome you back to Ibrox Stadium Walter, and Ally.
  20. Wonder when that meeting took place, seems to me that Smith was contacted either before PLG left or on the same day to have had a meeting with this guy so fast.
  21. The alleged drinking culture at Rangers is very worrying, if it is true. This is especially so if it involves younger players that have still to establish themselves in the football world. Surely anyone at Ibrox, that knows of our past players, will be more than aware of the problems this can cause. As for PLG not being able to control it, this I do not accept. Like any other work place, anyone under the influence of alcohol should be sent home. The football industry can take it further by fining players, dropping them from the team and exposing/embarrassing them in the media. All are effective deterrents from further abuse of the rules. Taking it a step further and transfer listing the player would also provide the desired effect. This accusation is part of the whole sorry episode in our clubs history that, along with the other revelations, the truth will never be revealled fully.
  22. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/news/2007/080107.html 08 January 2007 Trust Calls for ââ?¬Ë?Clarity, Direction and Leadershipââ?¬â?¢ at Rangers The Board of the Rangers Supportersââ?¬â?¢ Trust have watched with dismay at the events unfolding at Ibrox in recent weeks. The Trust repeats its public call for clarity, direction and leadership. - Clarity We are entitled to know why the Clubââ?¬â?¢s former Manager and former Captain were allowed to conduct a public dispute, which led to both of them losing their positions. We are also entitled to know precisely what role everyone played in this. - Direction We urgently require the appointment of a top class managerial team and the acquisition of quality professionals befitting of the team jersey. No-one is indispensable and no-one is bigger than Rangers Football Club. - Leadership Most importantly, we now need a tangible, public indication that the ambitions of the Rangers support are matched by the Clubââ?¬â?¢s Board and that the necessary investment and strategies to deliver on those ambitions are in place. We call on Sir David Murray to publicly address the Rangers support as a matter of urgency. The Trust has called for an urgent meeting in the next few days with Sir David Murray which he acknowledges and has agreed to meet as soon as is practical.
  23. Interesting...more lithuanians coming to hearts. Would you like to see Gordon at ibrox. As much as i want Macgregor to do well he loves to flap at crosses. Interesting to see what happens at Hearts the next few weeks.
  24. Gribz

    Sos....

.....Walter Smith and Ally McCoist The more i think of it, we must appoint these 2 now. Todays result is dire and unacceptable. We should never go down 3-0 to Dunfermline. Ok we got 2 goals back but we lost it too early. Its not Durrants fault. The events of midwekk ahve obviously affected the squad. We need Smith to come in first thing Monday morning and bring his "steel" with him. He needs to being in McCoist who will bring back some harmonay to Ibrox and get the players playing with a smile on there face but at the same time pulling on the jersey and knowing what its all about. The crop of players there are pure average but do have a bit of potential if they get the right man management. Im not sure if Smith can do both Rangers job and Scotland job. I hope so but his and Super Ally's pressance is needed ASAP!!! And get Gough in there with you's aswell.
  25. I think we'll get him in the summer if he's needed.
