one of the most interesting things apart from sam the bam was the board uncovering the pictures of the persons who got ebt payments , we had murray ,ferguson, etc there was more names not shown ,i suspect there is a lot more to come .

111 employees of Murray, including himself were benefiting from this scheme allegedly.

The last question put to Paul Murray on Newsnight Scotland was when he was asked at any stage during his 4 years at the club, “Did it never occur to you that something funny was going on?". Murray answered, “I was a non-executive director of Rangers so that was the extent of my involvement ”.

After then talking about Grant Thornton auditing the accounts for ten years and the Murray Group administering the EBT scheme, Murray further stated with reference to his position on the board, “It’s a matter of public record that the debt in the club came down from £35m to £14m”.

This is incredible. These people (AJ, Bain, P Murray) actually believe the club’s finances had nothing to do with them but nevertheless they reduced the debt.

Fascinating to watch a man squirming to avoid justice, while simultaneously talking up his CV.

This is the reason I was never behind the BK's and had a deep mistrust of anyone who was so fervently for them.

They claim Murray took 6mill, he claims he never took a penny. If they had hard evidence they would've shown it or they couldn't show it as it would drop their source right in it with his/her employer HMRC.

But that's not the interesting thing for me it's the total lack of any evidence of dual contracts not one piece of fact. Will be interesting to see what the SPL can find that a multi-million funded company like the Beeb can't.

I'd be astonished if they made the Murray payments claim without hard evidence, and the Souness one too for that matter. But I agree with you I didn't see anything that made me think this dual contracts allegation has any foundation. If the Murray allegation is false I expect he'll sue or complain to OFCOM at the very least.

The smoking gun on this for me was the Duff and Phelps allegation. Again, we'll see if it's true. Whatever we think of BBC Scotland the BBC as an organisation has quite high standards of credibility in terms of what they will 'publish'. Higher than most other news organisations. That's not to say they don't get it wrong sometimes.

They've a contract, breaking it could cause problems for them professionally and economically.

You'd imagine being involved with the shambles on Edmiston Drive would cause them more problems, professionally and economically, than remaining in situ. Only love for the club would lead any professional to touch us with a bargepole atm.

I found the whole program completely cringe worthy!!!!

"In order to show this information, we set up a Data room...." - no, you've simple found an empty impressive looking office & used some semi-fancy post production graphics & a dodgy voice over.....

As for the fan they used.....looked more like a character from Only an excuse!!!

I loved someone's comment about the phone conversation being more like Ronald Villiers - class!!!!

As for the evidence - nothing substantial, and in a lot of instances nothing at all. Mr double-barrel name EBT expert, spend longer talking about porn than he did about EBT's - top notch evidence there (unless Murray & Whyte are involved in the Porn industry...)

Celtic confirmed that it established one EBT scheme in April 2005, which BBC Scotland understands was for the benefit of the Brazilian midfielder Juninho Paulista. The scheme was worth £765,000 but the club did not declare the trust payment to the Scottish Football Association or the Scottish Premier League.

The payments made to the trust were declared in Celtic's annual report for 2004/2005, but in 2008 the club became aware of an event giving rise to a potential tax liability which was subsequently paid after agreement with HMRC.

Interesting comment there!

What wasn't made clear was whether Murray's £6 million was from the Club or from the Murray Group.I couldn't care less if the Murray group paid it, but if it came from Rangers then it is an absolute scandal.

As far as I can see there was nothing new revealed about EBTs.
