How SPL teams will vote

Recommended Posts

Indeed, on our way to three titles in a row.

Dunno what team you've been watching, Daniel. I accept our standard has been dire at times - the saving grace, usually, is that the other SPL teams (all of 'em) have been even worse.

Hibernian FC Board confirms voting intentions

Following a meeting of its Board of Directors, Hibernian FC confirmed that the Club will vote against the transfer of the Rangers share in the SPL to a newco at the General Meeting of SPL clubs on 4 July 2012. This re-affirms the view of the Board that the sporting integrity of the SPL is of paramount importance.

The Board is also acutely aware that in making this decision, Hibernian - like other clubs in the SPL - will suffer collateral financial damage at a time of severe economic hardship and uncertainty. The Board believes it is time for all fair minded supporters to get behind their clubs and to contribute in whatever way they can to the viability of the professional game in Scotland

Has any team ever been demoted 3 divisions before and got back to the top? Going down 2 divisions is one thing but 3 divisions would kill the club. We were bad enough when we were able to spend £20k per week on mediocrity like Whittaker.

Whittaker, mediocrity? you are being way too kind on that bomb scare. I will continue to stand alone on my defense of captain Kirk.

The sooner they all declare how they will vote in public, the sooner the SFA, SPL, and SFL can start to enforce their league rebuilding programme. I still do not envisage it before the start of next season.

You are correct, I'm sure but there will be a timetable, probably for 2013 or 2014.

It certainly won't be before July 4th.

So, we're refused entry to the SPL.

Does that mean we can apply elsewhere?

Well three already have and I would bet more will follow.

We can apply to any league once the newco is registered with the SFA.

Wasn't it said that if the SPL votes us out, the matter goes to the SFA?

As I said before, they could - according to their guidelines - simply suspend membership for a season. That would ease their organization troubles and leaves us to find a friendlier Association - Northern Ireland may be. In the former case we would have to send all our players on loan though, or essentially are barred out of football altogether. Obviously, we would and should fight such a rule with teeth, claws and all ... as this punishement was a) deemed to harsh in the first place and b) would annihilate any precedent that we have seen in British football. And, BTW, I for one doubt that the Rangers support - ICF or not - would stood idly by and watch them do this.

Short of storming the ramparts at Hampden not sure exactly what we could do about it?

As I said elsewhere if they bend the rules to put us in the SFL1, we've won a watch.
