all the board are doing are killing time kidding on they are giving the 3 bears due consideration then when time has ran out they will say they had no option but to take a loan from ashley and blame 3 bears for procrastinating and not accepting what was in the "clubs" best interest.

Robert Sarver is convinced he would have turned Rangers around

PHOENIX Knight Robert Sarver has tonight stuck the boot into the Rangers board by revealing he failed in an attempt to block the sale of Lewis Macleod to Brentford.

The American financier came out with all guns blazing in a tea time TV interview, hours after throwing in the towel on his attempted £20million takeover .

Sarver blamed the current beleaguered regime for failing to properly engage with him despite his attempts to pump life-saving cash into a business which is in desperate need of fresh funds.

And, in a move which will further infuriate large sections of the club’s support, Sarver told how chairman David Somers and chief executive Derek Llambias broke the terms of his opening £18m bid for control by selling star kid Macleod just 24 hours after he had insisted upon a freeze on all transfers out of Ibrox as a condition of his offer.

Sarver said: “My first offer was to inject capital into the company on a long term basis through a share issue. That was £18m that was to go into the club.

“But also, as a part of the conditions for my first offer, I had in it that they couldn’t sell any players. Then, the day after I submitted the offer, they sold one of the more promising young players. So that deal was kind of crushed.

“My second offer that I came back with tried to give them more flexibility. So what I agreed to do was loan £6.5m to help with the short term cash flow issues and then give the board discretion to sell me between £16m and £20m of equity as they saw fit so they could minimise the dilution if they wanted. Or they could sell me more shares and put more money in the club.

“But regardless my plan was to permanently capitalise the club over the next two to three years so it had the best chances to be successful in getting back to being one of the top two teams in the Scottish league.”

In the interview with Sky Sports News, Sarver was asked how the Rangers board had responded to his offers.

He went on: “Boy that’s a good question. I really never could get them to engage meaningfully in any discussion. At the end of the day that’s why I formally withdrew my bid because I couldn’t get them to the table. I never received a counter offer or any discussion of substance.

“I knew their issues were short term funding and they didn’t want to dilute any current shareholders. But those two things are really hard to do at the same time because the club needs funding.”

Sarver - owner of NBA outfit the Phoenxi Suns - continued: “It’s hard to do somewhat of a hostile deal from 5000 miles away. That’s really not my style.

“I was just trying to be helpful to the club and to the fans and say, ‘I’ll bring in a bunch of capital’.

"We have some good expertise here at the Suns in a lot of areas I thought would be helpful - strength and conditioning, our experience with fan engagement interaction, our analytics group and things like that.

"Let’s combine that with a world-class coach and manager and executive and let’s give the team the best possible chance. That was my goal but unfortunately I wasn’t able to successfully engage with the board.

“The club has a great franchise and as sad as it is to see the condition the club is in it will make it that more rewarding to the fans once the club eventually gets back to solid footing and starts competing at the highest level. They should just hang in there.”

But as Record Sport revealed earlier today, Sarver’s withdrawal from the battle for control of Ibrox has left Douglas Park and his consortium in the box seat as they attempt to buy a foothold in the boardroom by handing the club the emergency loan it needs to avoid insolvency.

The motor mogul and his allies, George Letham and George Taylor, remain confident of forcing their way into the heart of the club but, despite first submitting their funding offer on Thursday of last week, they were still awaiting an answer from Somers and Llambias as Sarver was taking to the airwaves.

And, with cash and time running out, Rangers supporters ramped up the pressure on the regime to hand over control and turn down any eleventh hour rival offer from Newcastle owner Mike Ashley, who increased his stranglehold on the club in November when killed off a bail-out offer from Brian Kennedy to give the club £3m in emergency cash.

Kennedy moved in after the board had booted out a £16m investment from Dave King who has subsequently spent more than £2m in becoming the club’s largest single shareholder.

Union of Fans spokesman Chris Graham said: “The Sarver offer was always a bit of a sideshow as it was never really a viable offer. Now that it has been withdrawn we can now start looking at the real business, which is where are they going to get the short-term funding from. They can either go with the Three Bears or will Ashley offer another loan and take control once more?

“In all fairness Dave King and the Three Bears should now receive board representation. These guys now both own big stakes in the club and should get their chance to make decisions and also to provide some short-term funding.

“People on the current board like Somers and James Easdale have presided over some pretty odd decisions and who’s to say what else they will do.

“The sensible approach is to get the Three Bears and Dave King on board as soon as possible.”

Say's he tried to stop Lewis Macleod leaving,

have personally lost all hope that king and the 3 bears will get anywhere.

The tactic of DK and T3b is simple.

Wait til things get to the stage where the board have to approach them then it will be their terms & conditions.

No it's not - you're guessing like everyone else. To say it is simple is plain stupid.
