Summer 2015 - Transfers and Rumours Thread

Recommended Posts

It's nice to be back to being linked with mostly promising, youngish players (Eustace notwithstanding). But are also back to the days when every agent would link their player to us (frequently to Them as well), in an effort to boost their terms elsewhere? Either that, or are journos are just pulling the names of young, promising Scots out of their archies and linking us?

Or are we genuinely going to get some of these players?

I think people will be guessing and/or using rumours just to sell copy.

Some will end up true (or partly so) and others will just be putting 2 + 2 together and getting 5.

At least it's (marginally) less dull that discussing EGM resolutions.

Rangers eye Sheffield Wednesday striker Stevie May

New Rangers manager Mark Warburton is believed to have former St Johnstone striker Stevie May in his sights.

Stevie hit 28 goals for the Perth club the season before last and netted seven times after moving to Sheffield Wednesday.

Warburton saw May close up last season as he was in charge of Brentford and is believed to have been impressed.

May was the subject of loan interest from Saints and Aberdeen and is thought to be keen to stay with Wednesday for the moment.

He is desperate to make a big name for himself south of the border and has recently stated he’s very keen to get going in pre-season training.

While at Brentford, Warburton had a free flowing attacking style, one which May would easily fit into at Rangers.

Meanwhile ...

from sky sports.

"It's about us doing our homework, getting the balance right, and people like John Eustace are few and far between. We have just had a chat about him no more than that. I have been given a number of names and hopefully over the coming days we will have some news for you.

"Scott Allan of Hibs is another one I've been alerted to but he is just one of 100 players given to us and right now it's about us doing our homework and we have to create an environment here where talented players want to come and play for Rangers."

That is as vague as his interviews before being announced the manager.

Former Hearts captain Danny Wilson is having a medical at Rangers ahead of sealing a return to Ibrox.

Wilson is at the club's Murray Park training centre as Mark Warburton closes in on a deal.

The 23-year-old decided to activate a get-out clause in his contract to leave the Tynecastle side this summer after leading them to the Championship title.

Wilson initially joined Hearts on loan in January 2013, before making his move permanent in the summer of 2013.

The Ibrox side are also set to announce the signing of Rob Kiernan after agreeing a fee with Wigan Athletic last week.

Earlier on Monday, Warburton had stressed the Championship side wouldn't be rushed into panic deals.

I keep coming in here hoping to see that we've released Kenny Miller because building a new team which gels well is probably going to require it. There's no room for a veteran striker who thinks he should be getting 90 mins every week when he's gubbed at half time every week and throws the dummy out when the manager takes him off.
