Unfortunately it seems to be a world problem that youngsters don't want to defend. From the Italian football in the 70's 80's we have turned 180 degrees and now it is all about attacking. The Dutch are trying to change youth training again so that they produce better defenders but the crop coming through at the moment aren't great defenders.

Living on the North West Coast of Wales, makes it very difficult for talented players to be discovered. However last year Rangers FC and Manchester City both invited my brother on trial, both are too far for him to join right now as he is only 15 but a great way for him to get his foot in the door at both clubs. And it pays off because yesterday Cullen Rodgers was back for a full days training with Rangers FC and loved every minute of it. Hope for more academies to maybe follow in their footsteps and trust in Cullens CV and invite him in for a training session or trial as he explores his options for a scholarship when he leaves school in 13 months time.
