Rangers target Rushian Hepburn-Murphy set to quit Aston Villa clearing way for cut-price Ibrox switch

The Villa Park men risk losing him for a fraction of his true value, with Light Blues boss Mark Warburton ready to swoop.

Rangers target Rushian Hepburn-Murphy is set to quit Aston Villa, clearing the way for a cut-price move to Ibrox.

The teen sensation has still to sign a new deal with the Midlands club and Rangers could sign him next month for a compensation fee of just £220,000.

Watford have also been linked with the 18-year-old strike star who has become frustrated at a lack of top team chances.

Hepburn-Murphy hasn’t featured in a single first team squad since Steve Bruce took charge two months ago.

But Bruce is still desperate to keep him and said recently: "We will do everything we can to tie him up. We like him and we will do everything we can.

"I met his parents to have a conversation with them to say how much we think of him. He has been in the academy here since he was eight. I would hope he can fulfil all his potential and everything he wants to be."

But Hepburn-Murphy's stand-off continues and he looks unlikely to stay as he enters the final six months of his deal.

Villa risk losing him for a fraction of his true value, with Light Blues boss Mark Warburton ready to swoop.

Warburton is again looking to exploit the cross-border FIFA loophole that allows them to pick up England’s best talent at a cut price. Out of contract players under the age of 24 can move across the border for a compensation fee.

Compensation is determined by FIFA’s fixed tariff and Villa would get £30,000 for the training he undertook between the ages of 12 and 15, while they would get a further £190,000 for their development of Hepburn-Murphy between the ages of 16 and 18.

Gers snapped up Jordan Rossiter and Joe Dodoo for a combined total of just £500,000 in the summer but English clubs would have been forced to go to a tribunal.

Hepburn-Murphy is next on Warburton’s list and the teenager, who made his top flight debut for Villa under former boss Tim Sherwood, could be tempted by the prospect of regular first team football in the Scottish Premiership.

If true we could cut massive costs by abandoning a youth policy as there seems to be no hope for the youngsters if we just keep signing English ones.

We still need a youth policy Mac as most of the guys we get seem to arrive with injuries.

For those interested, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy (18) is a striker ...

Wonder what will happen to Ryan Hardie (19) should this chap arrives. Dodoo (21) a left winger), Rossiter (19) in midfield, plus Jordan Thompson (19) as spine for the future. Hm ...

I honestly don't think Ryan hardie or Jordan Thomson have any future with us , you can add tom Walsh to that as well

It's a fair point but I think most at the club realise the youth system has been poor and that's why we've struggled to get any players into the first team.

We're in the process of rebuilding it so it may take another year or two before we start to see the fruits of our labour. Only issue is will the likes of Gilmour and Burt hang around?
