I suspect (maybe hope) that Tavernier will find a new lease of life with Bruno Alves beside him. Having proper DM's in front of him such as Jack & Rossiter will help tremendously too as he will be able to get forward in the knowledge that he has cover behind him should play break down, something he never really had last season (Barton was supposed to fill that role but sadly didn't).

 

Tavernier will be able to support the front line fairly safely knowing he has those DM's AND the experience of Alves covering for him.

 

Yeah, maybe it is just wishful thinking - but I do believe that there is a player in Tavernier. He is athletic, quick, decent distribution, good set piece taker - he just needs to improve his focus and reduce his lapses in concentration - he could be fairly costly to replace. I would give him another season to see if the new additions would help him improve his consistency and performance level.

 

I fear that Messrs Tavernier and Waghorn have outlived their usefulness.
