Rangers should hand Newcastle attacker Haris Vuckic a second spell at Ibrox after the former Gers loanee was released by Rafa Benitez’s side on Friday.

 

Premier League new boys Newcastle revealed on their official website that the 24-year-old playmaker was set to end an eight-year spell with the Toon, joining Vurnon Anita, Sammy Ameobi and Lubo Satka in leaving the club.

The one-time Slovenia international warmed the hearts of the Ibrox faithful during a loan spell with the 54-time Scottish champions back in the second half of the 2015-16 season.

 

Vuckic found the back of the net nine times north of the border, adding four assists during his 22 league and cup encounters for Rangers as they gained promotion to the top flight.

 

Now, the Gers could look to bring the Rangers fan favourite back to Auchenhowie as Caixinha continues to press on with his transfer revolution in Glasgow.

Rangers plan improved bid of £1.2million for Norwich City star Graham Dorrans

RANGERS are preparing to table a second bid for Graham Dorrans.Their initial offer of £700,000 for the Norwich City star was rejected last week.

 

But SunSport understands Gers will now up the ante.

 

An improved bid of £1.2million will be made within 48 hours — with the Ibrox club confident it will be enough to secure the signature of the midfielder.

 

The Scotland ace is regarded as the final piece of the jigsaw for Gers gaffer Pedro Caixinha.

 

Assuming Alfredo Morelos is granted a work permit, the Colombian and Dorrans would become captures eight and nine of the close season.

 

Deals for both could push Rangers’ summer spending close to the £10m mark.

 

Gers would then focus on off-loading those individuals deemed surplus to requirements — before looking to add two or three squad players.

 

Bruno Alves was first to sign up for Caixinha’s Rangers revolution.

 

Ryan Jack quickly followed and Dalcio joined soon after with Fabio Cardoso confirmed as signing number four earlier this week.

 

The Ibrox club has now had work permits granted to striker Eduardo Herrera and midfielder Carlos Pena.

 

Both are expected to join their new team-mates in Glasgow next week once they have been handed visas from the Mexican government.

 

As we also revealed, winger Daniel Candeias arrived in Glasgow on Thursday night and the 29-year-old was shown round Murray Park and Ibrox on Friday.

 

It is understood he has already undergone a medical and his arrival could be confirmed tomorrow.

 

That would leave only deals for Morelos and Dorrans outstanding.

 

SunSport understands Gers and HJK Helsinki have agreed terms on Morelos’ proposed move to Glasgow.

 

Now the 20-year-old is going through the motions of applying for his work permit to allow him to complete his dream move.

 

Rangers don’t envisage any problems and will now focus on the deal to bring Dorrans to Ibrox.

 

Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday are also tracking the 30-year-old, who has his heart set on a move to Glasgow.

 

Norwich have told the player — who has two years of his current contract left to run — he can leave Carrow Road this summer.

 

Meanwhile, Stirling Albion have announced that former Rangers striker Andy Little has signed a new one-year deal with them.

 

The Northern Ireland international initially penned a short-term deal with the Binos in February following his release from Preston North End.

 

Little, 28, suffered a fractured skull and eye socket in an horrific training-ground accident in April.

 

However, the frontman has made great progress and is nearing a return to full fitness ahead of next season.

 

Now he has chosen to extend his stay at Forthbank.

 

He joins former Peterhead captain Steven Noble in becoming boss Dave Mackay’s first signings of the close season.

I worry about paying 1.2 million for Dorrans. I would think there are better, younger players for that price.

According to wiki Vuckic played 10 league games in league 1 last season. Still probably a good step up from what we're used to.

Vuckic was another one that was good enough for us going through the leagues but sorry not Premier standard.
