[FT] Hamilton 1 - 4 Rangers (John 21, 25; Candeias 27; Dorrans 59 pen)

We're scoring goals now which in itself is an improvement on last season and are currently second highest scoring team in the league. But somewhat like last season we're still losing too many currently equal highest concede level among the top 5. A single factor that could be worked on which could make a huge difference.

Overall... pleased with the result, however I thought it was a sloppy performance.

Too many long balls going straight to the opposition - their goal being a prime example.

Too many square or backward passes....need better movement ahead of play.

Like the look of Dec John, think Waldo will have to really up his game.

We are conceding far too many, but the stats suggest we should be doing better. Our xG against -- those the opponent are expected to score, based on the quality of the chance -- is around 6; we've actually conceded 10 (from the first 7 games). Either we're conceding really poor goals, or we're really unlucky; probably a bit of both if the Hamilton goal is anything to go by.

It's interesting that the SPFL highlights - again - had a slow-motion scene included with Pena's elbow incident, clearly showing where the Compliance Officer "needs to act". For some reason they did not show Pena's foul that might have warranted a straight red, maybe because he got a yellow and thus it won't be up for debate. Later on, they showed Pena's upper-arm goal, which Hamilton on their side claimed was not rewarded with a card.

Likewise, they showed the tackle by McCrorie from two angles, as if to confirm that it really-really was a correct penalty (IMHO, while there was some contact, the striker fell rather theatrically)

On a sidenote, it seems to become a trend with the SPFL to have slow-mos from certain incidents, as we can see from the Thistle game ...
