I agree with Pete that Naismith was never superman. He was a very good player for Rangers in the confines of the Scottish game.

 

At 31 he should still have a good few years left in him. He’s only months older than Messi who is certainly not past it! We have a very young team that would benefit from his experience. I therefore have no problem with him coming back and in fact hope he does.

 

I can understand the sentiment of those who feel he betrayed the club. I however don’t share that sentiment.

 

He along with the rest of the players at that time were put in an insidious position. They had to think of their career and above all their families. I have no doubt that Naismith regrets how it ended but as the mouthpiece of the players he took the brunt of the fan backlash. Let’s not forget that the club let him go as a kid yet he came back in a heartbeat.

 

i truly believe that he wants to make peace with the fans and that he is happy to make the gesture suggested. It means we get his services for nothing till the end of the season at least.

 

surely it’s a no brainer! Winning goal st Ibrox against the unwashed and all will be forgiven! If that feat can work for Mo I’m sure it will work for Naismith!

I think i said half as good would make him our best player. Seems a fair statement.

Rangers target Jason Cummings will wait for talks with new Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka before deciding his future.

The 22-year-old Scotland striker made his switch to the City Ground last summer but found himself sidelined by Mark Warburton during the final days of his Forest reign.

The Light Blues are now rumoured to be considering offering him an escape route back north of the border.

A fee of around £1million would be required to prise him away but Ibrox boss Graham Murty now has room to manoeuvre after striking a deal with Mexican outfit Cruz Azul – now managed by his Light Blues predecessor Pedro Caixinha – that will see them cover all of Carlos Pena’s £20,000-a-week wages as part of a six-month loan deal, with a guaranteed £2million sum to follow if the move is made permanent.

However, Press Association Sport understands Cummings is not ready to walk away from Forest just six months after signing on from Hibernian.

He is willing to bide his time while Karanka, who was handed a two-and-a-half-year deal by Forest chiefs on Monday, assesses his new squad in the hope he can make a bigger impact under the former Middlesbrough boss than he managed with ex-Gers manager Warburton.

While Pena has agreed terms with Cruz Azul, Press Association Sport understands that two of his fellow Caixinha recruits – Fabio Cardosso and Eduardo Herrera – will only be allowed to move themselves if they can find clubs also willing to pay their salaries in full.

Rangers are battling with several English Championship clubs for free agent David Cotterill, Football Insider sources understand.

Cotterill, 30, is a free agent after leaving Birmingham City last month and Scottish giants Rangers have expressed an interest in the winger as they consider possible replacements for the in-demand Josh Windass.

Rangers have already rejected bids from Sheffield United, Preston North End and Wigan Athletic for Windass during this month’s transfer window, but the Ibrox side are bracing themselves for a fresh offer for Windass and they have earmarked Cotterill as a ready-made replacement.

The former Swansea City and Sheffield United man has been on Rangers’ radar for a while as Graeme Murty looks to strengthen his squad at Ibro

 

Cotterill is weighing up his options after leaving Birmingham and the 30-year-old is an attractive proposition for club due to his availability on a free transfer.

The likes of Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Reading, Ipswich and Queens Park Rangers are all weighing up moves for the Wales international as they look bolster their attacking options for the second half of the season.

Cotterill boasts a wealth of experience having made over 400 appearances in his career and won 24 caps for Wales.

Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers are battling a number of English clubs for non-league striker sensation Reise Allassani, Football Insider sources understand.

Former Crystal Palace youngster Allassani has been earning rave reviews for Bostik League Premier Division side Dulwich Hamlet this season, having scored 17 goals in 16 games.

Scouts from a host of clubs have been keeping tabs on Allassani’s performances this season and his displays have alerted Scottish titans Celtic and Rangers.

Celtic and Rangers see the 22-year-old as someone with huge potential and they are readying moves to try and lure the forward north of the border.

 

The likes of Championship trio Norwich City, Reading and Barnsley and League One side Gillingham are also chasing Allassani and are weighing up moves for the exciting attacker in this month’s transfer window.

Allassani was close to joining Sheffield Wednesday following his release in 2016 only for a serious knee injury to halt the deal, but he has got his career back on track at Dulwich Hamlet.

Dulwich Hamlet have received a number of enquiries for Allassani’s suitors this month and they are unlikely to stand in the player’s way to make the move back into a higher league.
