Rangers could lose Josh Windass with Cardiff City poised to make a £3million offer which will trigger a release clause in the attacker’s contract. Windass could still opt to remain at Ibrox and play under new boss Steven Gerrard, though the lure of playing in the English Premier League may prove to be too strong. (Daily Express)

Davis has been a good player for them but is coming to the end of his career, at least at that level.

Armstrong has it in front of him, whether it be success or failure. They payed good money thinking/hoping it'll be the former.

Rangers and Roma reach agreement on Umar Sadiq deal

The striker is set to join on a season-long loan, subject to work permit.

Rangers have reached an agreement with Roma to sign Umar Sadiq on a season-long loan, STV has learned.

The 21-year-old, who spent the second half of the last campaign in the Netherlands with NAC Breda, will become Steven Gerrard's eighth summer signing, subject to the Nigerian receiving a work permit.

Sadiq would not meet the automatic criteria for a work permit endorsement, with Rangers needing to request an appeal hearing.

That would be convened by the Scottish FA with a quick decision being made as to whether it should be approved and, if so, the player would then be able to sign for the Ibrox club though there may be further paperwork required in Italy.

When confirming Rangers' interest in the Nigerian striker, Gerrard said the 6ft 3in target-man would bring a physical presence to his Light Blues frontline.

Gerrard said: "He'd bring us a forward option - height, power, presence.

"He's very enthusiastic. He's the type of player who gives you just as much out of possession as he does in possession which is very important."

Sadiq scored five goals in 13 games in the Eredivisie during his stint with Breda.

He initially joined Roma on loan from Spezia in 2015 but signed a permanent deal with the capital side after impressing on his outings for the Giallorossi.

Rangers boss Gerrard is set to make further signings ahead of the new campaign, with fringe players set to exit the club.

David Edgar saying people at Rangers are denying there is a clause. He used to have it but it was worked away when he signed a new contract. I guess we will find out soon enough. Possible reason? Why give him a new contract offering him more money and not getting benefits for yourself.

That's what I thought too.  I'm almost 100% sure the new contracts removed the release clauses.  I think the press has jumped on tweets by his dad.  It just shows his dad is just as clueless.

When Josh Windass signed his new contract we tweeted his release clause was removed
In light of today’s stuff we have checked & checked again & it is confirmed there is NO £3m release clause that club must accept
There is also no bids received
Business as usual

Rangers keen on Southampton’s Steven Davis

Davis won three top-flight titles at Ibrox

Rangers are keen on bringing Southampton captain Steven Davis back to Ibrox, according to Sky sources.

Davis played 152 games for Rangers during a six-year spell after initially joining on loan from Fulham, winning three Scottish top-flight titles.

The 33-year-old also won two Scottish Cups and three League Cups during his time in Glasgow.

The Northern Ireland midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in the latter stages of last season which saw him play just once under Mark Hughes since February.

The former Aston Villa player has 12 months left on his current contract.

Rangers have already completed deals for Jon Flanagan, Nikola Katic, Connor Goldson, Ovie Ejaria, Jamie Murphy, Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor this summer.
