There are more than a few undesirables masquerading as bottom feeders across the political spectrum Buster, but John Mason is a repeat offender and he is most definitely offensive in the extreme. He badly needs a dose of reality and a timely reminder that he cannot act without compunction.

Being offensive in an increasingly polarised world has almost become the norm and the threshold or line that can't be crossed before general censure has moved significantly.

 

The current incumbent of most powerful public office (POTUS) has without doubt had an influence on the general trend. He obviously didn't start it but he has given many who should know better, a certain 'license'.

 

Prior to January 2017, the Scottish Independence referendum on social media brought into stark focus the polarisation such a contested event can have in an enviroment and it won't shake off those negative, hateful waves for a long time.

That's his anti-Rangers stance being rewarded. The man who claims "hun" isn't sectarian is obviously the perfect candidate as far as the SNP (who haven't an anti-Rangers agenda,  honest guv) are concerned.
