Sakala - Morelos - Lawrence

Lowry - Jack - Hagi

Bassey - Sands - Goldson - Tavernier

McLaughlin

Subs: Colak, Kent, Wright, Kamara, Arfield, Lundstram, Barisic, Souttar, Helander, King, McCrorie

I'd like to see another RW brought in, though. Matondo would be picked before Lawrence.

Assuming all are fit enough to play, I should have JL to start, with, probably,  Kent.

I think Souttar over Sands, perhaps, too.

That doesn't half focus the mind....funny how many ways there are to see it .....

Kent - Colak - Wright

Lundstram - Jack - Lowrie

Depending on the opposition at hand, I`d switch between 3-4-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3. In Scotland, I`d go 3-4-3 and sure not two DMs/CMs, e.g. and fit and available:

McLaughlin

Souttar - Goldson - Bassey

Tavernier - Matondo/Hagi - Jack/Lundstram - Kent/Wright

Sakala/Matondo - Morelos/Colak - Roofe/Lawrence

It should be noted that Colak is the only one of our strikers that is solely a centre-forward, whereas the rest can play and has played across the front line. We do need more firepower up front ... in terms of finishers, not shooters. I hope Colak, Lawrence and Matondo will provide this, but it is also necessary to play Roofe and Sakala alongside another striker too. There will be games where we have to rely on pace and counter attacking play too, yet, 7 out of 10 games in Scotland is about breaking opposition walls and having more lethal attackers is a must. We create 15 to 30 chances, yet only score 1-3 goals on average.

Yes, that's the more likely XI. (Hagi is out for ages, and Kent rarely misses out.)

My XI was what I would like to see, though.

Midfield lacking a running enforcer?

Jack can do it, but I'm not sure teams need an enforcer now.

If they press and counter-press correctly, that does the job better than assigning a single player.

Does that not require a team of players of a calibre better than Rangers can afford?

It is still a work in progress with the CL qualifiers only 3 weeks away.

It'll work it's way out, but it might take until the autumn.

Pertinent example being our only rival. They recruited well last summer,... but didn't get going until after an awful start to their campaign.
