  1. Past hour
  2. If you want to make decisions on the model of Pilate and Barabbas..... I'm not sure how you would assess the opinion of the fanbase - at least ol' Pontius had a ravening rabble on the doorstep. We do know that Russell Martin has the backing of one fan. I suppose that could be construed as a start.
  3. To clarify: I hope they ignore the troglodytes in our support.
  4. They wont. Its their money that's down on this. They want ROI not the adulation of staunch Scottish folks.
  5. And what if they listen to Gersnet? Go on, have a poll....😅
  6. If the new regime listen to the fans then we are in deep trouble.
  7. I only suggested they'd consider it. It is part of the business decision. They're not going to appoint someone because that's what the fans want, if it didn't align with their aims. If it comes down to a couple of candidates and one is viewed overwhelmingly negatively by a majority of fans (I'm not sure if Martin is viewed negatively by the majority, but there's certainly a vocal minority), then that surely will influence their decision a little?
  8. From what I can see, taking fans' views into account might push them to going all in for Stevie G.
  9. I tend to agree. I think that the Yanqui will make decisions based on the dough they have committed, and will be unlikely to be swayed by the opinions of those in the bleachers. This applies to players, and to coaches. Like it or not, we now have sports' businessmen in the boardroom, making the decisions, committing the resources, and not fans.
  10. I think they'd consider it, yes. But if they thought it brought success, then they'd push through. If it does bring success, the fans would come around.
  11. Do you really think the fans' feeling will be a consideration? The people making this decision are hard-nosed businessmen.
  12. I think its Ancelotti. I am so confident about this I placed a bet of £20 on it on Thursday. Returns £40. Will have my own summer war chest if it comes through.
  13. Today
  14. Will Still, then.... Still appointed as new Men's First Team Manager | Southampton FC Official Site Still was quoted yesterday as favourite, or near favourite, for Ibrox, on some books. Can only assume that @compo had a chunky bet and frightened the plcs.
  15. The thing about Propper is that he is the kind of player Russell Martin would want to keep, build a team around, and make captain.
  16. Re the possible Dio link: I would be amazed, and pleased if another club looked at our midfielders and thought, "I would like the guy Diomande." while Raskin has been different class. Propper and Ridvan can go if they want
  17. It's fairly obvious the attacking side to his game has diminished in the past two seasons (goals and assists both down), he's lost a bit of pace and the defensive issues have also increased, with several examples where his lapses have cost us goals. It was time to sell him two seasons ago.
  18. Well done UB's
  19. Had Tav left a couple of seasons ago we would all think well of him, but either the team have improved beyond him, or time is just catching up with him now.
  20. John Grieg captained Rangers when Celtic won the European Cup, reached a further final and two further semi finals and won 9 in a row. He then won two trebles as captain. There's a reason why every manager that's come to Rangers has either made Tav captain or kept him as captain, and it's not because they're sentimental. I'd really like to see Tav get a run in a Rangers side with much better players in it, he's still the best full back in the league.
  21. I don't think it matters who has the armband.
  22. Tav would be a great backup right back. I'd keep him until his contract expires. But yes, he needs the captaincy taken off him.
