  1. It's unfortunate that Celtic are unable to guarantee the safety of opposition fans, but that says everything about their club and their support. It's also disappointing that there's a section of our support wanting our club to bow down to their demands. There's no way their allocation should be increased, particularly at the expense of our season ticket holders.

  2. Rangers fans who blame our board for this really need to understand who the real enemy is.

  3. It's a shame the clubs can't seem to reach an agreement on an equitable solution for number and placement of away supports at these games. Yes, some behaviour hardly inspires but the spectacle suffers without both supports present. Scottish football continues to frustrate and hate itself to death.

  5. I hope never to see Celtic supporters occupying the Broomloan stand ever again. For me the priority at our ground will always be to maximise the seat allocation and convenience of our own fans and the provision for away fans should only ever be such that it doesn't inconvenience Rangers season ticket holders. Away fans allocations should be such that it suits our stadium requirements and should be the same for all visiting clubs. I have absolutely no interest in some misty eyed return to "how it used to be".

  6. No, it's just Celtic (and Rangers to a lesser degree IMO) playing funny buggers. Essentially, they want to go back to 8000 supporters which sounds fine on the face of it but clearly their away fans get a whole stand with prime viewing whilst our fans get shoved into a corner with restricted viewing. Add in the fact we'd have to move season ticket holders to go back to the old system then I don't see much future in big numbers of away fans unfortunately.

  8. Joel Piroe and Morgan Whittaker we might be better going for Joe Pesci and Roger Whittaker .

  9. 3.2 shots per game and 34 games means over 100 shots and 13 goals doesn’t seem a very good return. Perhaps the stattos amongst us can compare this against other strikers? £6M for a 13 goal striker in a poor league seems excessive but that’s what happens when we only seem to look in the most overpriced market in world football.

  10. We need to pick up guys like this before they hit the ground at the likes of Swansea. Championship strikers come at a massive premium. Some really good like Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney and some not so good like Neal Maupey. Not to mention the wage demands will be high. Guys like Piroe should be picked up when let go from PSV, where he impressed on loan elsewhere in holland before going to Swansea.

  11. It's also worth noting that whilst the same numbers may sound equitable it's not when their stadium is around 20% bigger than ours.

  12. If the likes of Burnley and Middlesbrough are interested in the summer that wont matter - we wont have a hope of getting him.

  13. I don't think Piroe is a pure striker, like Toney and Maupey. The Watkins comparison is more apt, I think. But, you're right: we should be signing them before their breakthrough. Saying that, he's only got a year left on his contract...

  14. I can't find a table of conversion rates to compare, but Piroe has a 9.2% conversion rate with the highest in the league having around 14%. Haaland's conversion rate is 23.3%; Kane is 16.4%. If you look at team conversion rate, Burnley and Middlesbourough (the highest scorers in the league) have an 11.8% conversion rate. Sheff Utd, who are second, have a 9.1% conversion rate. I don't think Piroe's conversion rate is that bad; it's not spectacular. Piroe's xG is 15.2, including 2 penalties, so I'd say he's scoring as many as he should be scoring; He's maybe under-performing a little. He scored 22 goals from an xG of 12.2 last season which is a huge over-performance; perhaps not sustainable. Bare in mind that he has played 10 games as a winger and #10. Here's his comparative stats versus other forwards in his league:

  16. He's a decent player but Swansea will be looking for North of £6M for him so that's us out of the running.
