  1. C'mon Cammy, we get you're really unhappy just now but the club can't win with you. Do you really expect the CEO to announce he'd welcome bids for Raskin and Igamane in the coming days? Would that lift team morale, get the Union Bears back onside, increase a player's value? You know that if the right bid comes in for any of our players we'll sell. Stewart knows that, Clement knows that, the players know that and their agents know that. What the right amount might be is open to speculation. You're now taking up a contrary position on every subject, whatever the club say or do you oppose it. It's a shame and it makes this forum harder to read.

  2. £7 million for Igamane looks on the low side at the moment. He's got tremendous potential and other clubs should be able to see that. It is a gamble as Cammy points out, but one criticism aimed at the club over the past 8 years is that we've sold players at a lower amount than other clubs appear to be able to do. The opposite argument regarding Morelos and Kent also applies so it's a difficult line to get right. I'd hope our CEO with his experience would be able to judge it better than perhaps we've done in the past.

  3. I remember doing an article on the Boumsong sale, praising his agent Willie McKay. We used the cash to buy Kyrgiakos, Barry and Buffel in the winter window and result was the never-to-be forgotten Helicopter Sunday.

  4. We should try to keep Igamane for another 18 months. His impact on the team is too important. The rest of the players will play better with him in the team than with Dessers. The only exception is if we get some more good results in Europe and somebody wants to bid £15m+.

  5. Careful what you wish for. We won't want his stifling brand of football.

  6. He might replace Dowell, but we could replace Dowell with a dead horse tbh. He's probably going to replace Lawrence who is out of contract at the end of the season.

  7. Sky Sports reporting we are in talks to sign Lyall Cameron from Dundee. Bring him home, scarf above head etc

  9. I think if we are looking at a centre back we should be looking at a similar profile to Nikola Katic when he first signed, a young player from a Croatian type league or Scandinavia, perhaps on a loan to buy. Give them 6 months to assess. We have 6 months of breathing space until we will be expected to mount a title challenge again (realistically or not) so its a good opportunity to roll the dice.

  10. This is what I was trying to get at. A player breaks onto the scene, looks good and we elevate them to "super stardom" and they become un-sellable. If we are to get out this financial mess, we have to sell players I used Igamane as an example as he's the latest player to explode onto the scene. A few on here use Boomsong as an example of a positive player trading model. He was, and so would Igamane. I plucked £7M fresh out of the air, but its 3 times what we paid for him so in reality, a good return. If we are serious in player trading we'd have the next few Igamane's on our radars and use the money we made to get them, then continue the cycle.

  11. That's not how it works. The plan is always to try and build a winning team on the park. How you construct that team, with specific player profiles is what is important. If you buy young players, you get cheap wages and potential to improve (in theory). As a result these players have high value, as a buying club can buy a player with an upside and who should be looking for a modest wage. Look around world football. All the money is being spent on players 23 and under. Teams aren't breaking records buying Zidane and Figo at 28 anymore. The Goldson scenario was another example of how not to do player trading. We spend 3 million and 20k per week on a solid to good performer for 4 years. If he left for free and the end of his contract, that's good business. The key part to any player trading model is to sell high (after success) and sell at the right time (before any new contracts / wage rises). We did it with Aribo, Bassey and Sakala so it can be done. The issue is we didn't reinvest it properly after that. Its not about selling a player as soon as you make any profit, that is counter productive.

  12. I hope not. Was just saying during the recent Hibs game how sick I am of other teams' players diving and getting away with it. If Hamza gets in trouble for that it is a Morelos moment.

  13. Jean-Luc only said we don't intend to sell preforming players during Januray, but if we're offered a big fee I see no reason why we wouldn't accept. There's no need to over complicate things.

  16. Incidentally, what's the nonsense about Igamane getting punished for diving? He didn't have to roll about but the St Johnstone player did stamp on his foot.

  17. That's what Jean-Luc said: "We have no intention of selling the players [that are] performing on the park at the moment". It's not set in stone. Soundbites will often get banded about; it doesn't mean they are 100% accurate. It's a hypothetical, but I don't think I'd accept £7M for Igamane just yet.

  18. Stevie Clifford said on the Rangers review this morning he has heard we are interested in Abdel Abqar of Alaves (free at end of season) and Liam Lindsay of Preston. I'd take Lindsay on a free if he is running down his contract, would be a good squad player. Big strong guy, good left foot. Know a guy who was assistant manager when he was Barnsley and he raved about him, said he was much better than they expected when they signed him from Partick.

  19. The Rangers Review understands the club are not active in talks to sign Burnley defender Hjalmar Ekdal on loan, however Although Ekdel is a profile known to the club it's believed that Rangers are pursuing other targets in defence at this moment in time. Rangers are committed to not selling any players making an impact on the pitch in the January window. However, as previously reported, they remain open to offers for others such as forward Cyriel Dessers, as they continue to rebuild their squad.

  20. Don’t underestimate the guy. He plays for more than one team. He’s all over the park, opening up the Rangers defence at one end, closing down the Rangers attack at the other and stifling the midfield.

  21. We're linked with a Swedish CB, Hjalmar Ekdal. He's been injured all season so this looks a goer.

  27. Looks like Bayern are interested in bringing back Tillman from PSV. They have a 35 million clause. We supposedly have a ten % sell on.

  28. Happy to announce that BEARGER and I have cleared up the misunderstanding. I clearly haven't done a good job at explaining how my tables are embedded. I hope there will be no walkouts during the next game week nor banners calling me nasty names.

  29. I had that photo on my bedroom wall in my youth and that was my 1st Rangers kit. If any photo encapsulates what a Ranger is (or should be) and what Rangers are (or should be), its this one.

  30. Scousers reckon Dalglish. They’re probably right. Keegan, as CF says, did have a better International career but he kept better company. Dalglish became the better manager by far.
