  5. The list of teams we out performed on that list is mind blowing. You have to take your hat off to the managers and players for their european run this season.

  6. Since it first broke on the Spanish side, I thought Ancelotti was the preferred choice and some kind of provisional deal was already done. When the FF admin / ITK posters on FF started pronouncing Gerrard as the new manager in waiting, I thought that I must have got it wrong. As they usually get it right when they go strong on a name. However, after the tweet posted yesterday, again from a Spanish source. I am back to thinking that it is Ancelotti. No experience, but the profile is right for what we expect the new football department's way of functioning to be.

  9. Access to the champions league is far more profitable. Even if it is just to the qualifiers. If we get it, it means they don’t. For every 20 million we make from the EL, anything they get from the CL beats it hands down. The extra games and the toll our European campaigns take on our squad - in my opinion it detracts from our ability to compete domestically. This figure in the table means nothing until we know how much of that money we have left after win bonuses, staffing costs, police costs, additional transfer or loan fee clauses it Europe triggers, travel costs, tax etc etc after all these extra games.

  11. Update, Little man is belting out Rangers Till I Die, Bouncy bouncy , and also sing for the Boys. I plan to include one new song each week and see how it goes, plus I’ve been flinging in songs with few words . We didn’t start the fire in his new song at present.

  13. When I realised that we were falling into the hands of vulture capitalists I thought that I couldn't sink any lower. Then I realised I had missed the chance to say no such thing as a free warchest. The lesson is that it can, and will, always get much worse.

  16. Leeds raised money by selling players. They were in the fortunate position where they had players worth a lot of money.

  24. Those saying that domestic football is more important than the European need to take a look at that. Winning the League title doesn't get an automatic CL spot anymore, at least for a few years. Those numbers added to the match day revenue will help mitigate financial losses for year end June 2025.

  34. I was engrossed in the football this afternoon (Sheffield United v Sunderland) Reading the post-natch reports I saw the SC Final had gone to penalties so I switched on to see MacGregor, ball in hand, and Robertson the ref strolling nonchalantly together towards the penalty spot happily chatting and oozing confidence the pair of them. And we all know what happened next. To be fair, four cracking penalties by Aberdeen. None of the fan dance routines. celtic captain greeting buckets. Poor fellow.

  38. You’re correct none of them “thought”. There were a good few experienced managers available at the time. Ferguson and his mates were a bad joke.

  39. The sacking of Clement and replacing him with Ferguson and his mates showed the complete incompetence of the board. Not one of them should be on the new board, at least the ones who thought Ferguson was the answer.
