  1. At least we won it in the end ! The end of season league game at Easter Road that season (after the 3 Cup Final matches and losing the league/treble chance) was just more than people were ready to take. I went along and there was literally a sprinkling of folk on the terraces. I sat down with nobody within 10 metres, surreal. My favourite Cup Final attended was the win over Dundee Utd in 1981. Like the Hibs Final in 79, it started with a goalless draw. We all went trooping off to the bus dissappointed because Ian Redford had missed a last minute penalty but very glad that he did by HT in the replay.

  6. Another Board where I look in from time to time has good footage of the 62 (St Mirren) and 64 (Dundee) Cup Finals The Dundee match was a classic partly because of the quality of the Dundee team but the Saints game was pretty good too. Buddies had some not bad players and Beck and George McLean and as usual a ‘keeper playing a blinder. Other points of note. Ian McMillan should have been called Ian Magician. Ronnie McKinnon aged 21 was a colossus of calm. Harry Davis and Jimmy Millar had more football skill in them than I remember. Willie Henderson was unplayable. 62 was the first and 64 the third of a three in a row. In the intervening 63 final the opposition was not of the same calibre as the other two. Easy. Easy.

  7. The EGM will take place on May 12. That gives Rangers plenty of time to present their evidence. Should be interesting. The spin doctors at Sceptic and the SPFL will be working overtime.

  8. Is it not that 2 clubs need to back the resolution and/or call for a General Meeting The requisitioners !!! (blast fae the past) In such a General Meeting, 75% of the 42 clubs would need to back the call for an Independent Enquiry to get it through. ie. at least 32 clubs from the 42 Until the clubs see the evidence for themselves, it'll be pretty pointless to do any polling or estimates.

  9. 75% of clubs need to agree to their proposal which will be held at an extraordinary meeting. If it goes that far I expect the SPFL board will be compelled to facilitate the inquiry. If not, we don't need any other clubs to support us if we take the legal route. One thing that the club has not mentioned (for obvious reasons) is that they have the option of taking the police route. If there is indeed bribery or corruption that can be evidenced, it is highly likely that this could end up as a criminal case. If there's an independent inquiry, or if the police get involved, this will escalate very quickly and I suspect that much more evidence will appear as more and more whistleblowers emerge. This always happens in these cases as others become desperate to distance themselves from the centre of the corruption. These additional (or as I call them ... save your own skin) whistleblowers are often the ones who deliver the killer blow and it's their evidence that usually secures the convictions. The "prisoner dilemma" often comes into play here.

  10. German / Italian combined XI: Lehmann Rudiger - Materazzi - Boateng Ballack - Schweinsteiger - Gundogan Zola Gnabry - Klinsmann - Sane I could add Mertesacker and Ozil and then there's no spot for an Italian -- I can't leave out Zola, though.

  13. Ooosh. Van Persie over Van Nistelrooy?? Kluivert probably went to wrong club or could have been picked.

  14. Im giving you Van Der Vaart though, he was top notch. But he cant oust Bergkamp. Good opinions though and thats what its all about. I'll ping a combined German and Italian squad later - not good enough for just an XI from each.

  15. Yeah thats up to the picker. And yes had to play in the PL. Personally I go with a bit of both hence leaving Deschamps and Blanc out of the French side. But there is no wrong. Just a wee bit of fun during these times. ?

  19. Tom English is a foreign journalist and his wages are funded by the BBC licence fee, which is paid by UK citizens. Gregory Campbell is a democratically elected UK MP. I think it shows how low PQ has sunk when someone like English says something like that about a Member of Parliament.
