  1. Tears are still tripping me ??? Extract from Roy Keanes Autobiography: “The only time I laughed in my life, we had this wee rat called Micheal Stewart, the worst footballer anyone has seen. I remember Fergie telling him how shite he was and he actually pissed his shorts, in front of us all. I chuckled for days”

  4. The league "had to be called" as there was no way games could have been played. And sure not before empty stands. For some reason, cup games are seemingly a different sort of game. Monday was Championee-Day, then Thursday Doncaster and Co. called on SNP-Nic that football must restart in August, no problems regarding empty stands. Hm. Yesterday, Dunfermline Athletic, sadly, had to tell everyone that they will not renew the contracts of players who are out of contract this summer. Just 17. One would assume that many teams will follow suit. Tell me, how exactly did the paying out of SPFL money help clubs like Dunfermline? How exactly did ending the season help clubs like Dunfermline? By the looks of it, even if clubs can afford playing games in front of empty stands, they probably have no players playing for them because they cannot afford the wages.

  6. What a well-informed, coherent and substantive response from Bowie. He must leave colleagues and associates in awe at business meetings.

  7. ‘’Thus ended their first match played at the latter end of May 1872 some two months after the inauguration of the club’’. The words of Rangers player William Dunlop from his article The Rangers FC which he wrote so eloquently for the SFA Annual in 1881 using the pen name ‘True Blue’. Rangers Football Club played it’s first ever match 148 years ago this week. Our Club was formed on a spare bit of ground at Fleshers Haugh by a few kids who’d come to Glasgow seeking employment and a better way of life.Their Club ,which they formed for no other reason than the love of football and the pursuit of sporting excellence, would go on to become the world’s most successful. That first ever match was against Callander and ended 0-0, Willie continued, “Their first game was a terrible spectacle with the ball suffering an incredible amount of abuse” William McBeath was given man of the match and then spent a week in bed recovering due to his exertions’’ Founder William McBeath was from Callander and we believe it would have been Willie who approached ex-pats from the town who had settled in Glasgow and that’s probably where the opposition came from for our first match. Willie’s Rangers team-mate Sam Ricketts wrote in 1884 about the boys playing those first few games in their civvies and journalist John Allan wrote about them having to change behind a bush as there were no facilities. William Dunlop described how genial Peter McNeil would travel on a Saturday morning to a desirable part of the Glasgow Green, set up the noted standards and stand guard until the classic hour came when he would be joined by his friends. We felt this was a very dramatic and moving image and commissioned a painting to be done depicting this scene. We presented the painting by artist Helen Runciman to the Club in 2009 and it now hangs on the marble staircase at Ibrox. The Rangers would remain at Fleshers Haugh for three years. We then began our journey around Glasgow to Burnbank and Kinning Park before finally settling in the Ibrox area in 1887 where we would grow to become the world’s most successful football club. 9. I read that they intend to complete this season's Scottish Cup. Amusing to think that the yahoos won a title in an office and they might win a treble in an empty stadium (I hate them winning anything but really can't see any of the other remaining teams beating them at Hampden).

  10. Couple of good games on paper today. Borussia Monchengladbach v Bayer Leverkusen is 3rd v 5th with 2 points between them. Wolfsburg v Dortmund is 6th v 2nd. CL spot is probably beyond Wolfsburg but they are still playing for a Europa Spot while Dortmund have to keep up the chase.

  11. They'll find a way to make it the most convoluted league season imaginable.

  12. The SPFL got called early because Lawwell told his lackey Doncaster to do so. It’s that simple. Meanwhile we await to see whether hearts (& others) are prepared to take legal action to prevent their ridiculous relegation. Hopefully they will.

  14. Direct link to the article: Why was there such a rush to end the SPFL season? The board still have questions to answer At the end of the day, the only question that needs answered is: qui bono? And no matter they'll turn it and warp it, the only one team that benefitted from all of this is Celtic FC. Neatly spun plot.
