And in actual fact it would be folly to do so for a couple of reasons. 1. Once the min fee release clause is triggered the current club have to accept. 2. At that time the decision lies with the player regardless of what the offers to selling club are. 3. If a club offers more than the min fee then they are STUPID. If they offer the min fee then it HAS to be accepted. Offering more is a waste of money and, in fact, could be used to increase the wages on offer to the player (eg, say Cuellar is worth 14 mill and a prospective buyer knows that. He offers 8 mill and now has 6 mill to play with. If they desperately want Cuellar then they can offer him a 5 mill signing on fee and STILL save 1 mill).

Why should they GTF ? Are they not allowed their opinion on how the club is run Fraser ? They have a right to voice their concern every bit as much as you have a right to dismiss them.

Read in the NOTW yesterday, was an interview with Novo - he said Aaron can play left OR right equally as well. Apparently he is even smaller than Novo !!! But fast and strong. Looking forward to seeing this kid play to be honest.

The MLS set up is a strange one indeed. Whilst 75k is a "decent" salary over there many professions pay far more than that amount. There is much, much less of a disparity between footballers and regular workers over there - UNLESS you are the franchise player (ala Beckham). Actually his guaranteed compensation was $157k (will include pension and bonuses or something such like);
-
Sorry my man. I readily admit that I have NO IDEA about salaries back home these days. Wasn't meant as belittlement, I genuinely have no idea. Just ask Bluedell...... I interviewed for a job back home recently and had to ask him what the going rate was for an accountant !

I would rather keep JCD - as an impact player from the bench he has much more impact than Cousin would IMO. When he came on against Hearts there was an uplift in tempo due to his energy and enthusiasm.

I watched the game on Saturday and my opinion is : 1. Bougherra - was definitely ball to hand. Hearts player struck it, Bougherra turned away from it and also had hjis arms close to his body. Struck his arm - definitely not a penalty. For our purposes I would put it in the MAYBE column 2. Wallace should definitely have been sent off as it was a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Miller was half way through striking the ball when Wallace tackled him from behind. 100% against us. Aside from that the game passed off pretty much without incident ! Gribz & Calscot - Re these indecisive ones (ala the handball incidents on Sunday) I would suggest we have 3 items - we have FOR, AGAINST and MAYBE (or something similar). Then we also have the points affected by the decisions (but I think we should EXCLUDE any in the maybe column as by definition they could go either way). I think that would have us sorted on this. We should combine your post above Gribz (week 1 for, against, week 2 for against etc etc) with the points affected Example Week 1 FOR'S: Rangers (v Falkirk) 0-1 Celtic (v St Mirren) (JVoH penalty - could argue the sending off went for them too as it shouldnt have been a red card) AGAINST: Rangers 0-0 Celtic MAYBE FOR: Rangers 0-0 Celtic MAYBE AGAINST: Rangers 0-1 Celtic (JVoH pulled down by keeper, ball going out of play) POINTS GAINED : Rangers 0-2 Celtic Week 2 FOR'S: Rangers (v Hearts) 0-2 Celtic (v Dundee Utd) (non D Utd penalty &manhandling) AGAINSTS: Rangers 0-0 Celtic MAYBE FOR: Rangers 1-2 Celtic (Bougherra handball, Caldwell handball twice) MAYBE AGAINST: Rangers 1-0 Celtic (Hearts player should have been sent off for pulling Miller down for penalty) POINTS GAINED : Rangers 0-1 Celtic Total: FOR'S: Rangers 0-3 Celtic AGAINSTS: Rangers 0-0 Celtic MAYBE FOR : Rangers 1-2 Celtic MAYBE AGAINST: Rangers 1-1 Celtic POINTS GAINED : Rangers 0-3 Celtic This way everything is on one email and we should be good regarding what happened when, will keep memory fresh too.

That is only 25 GBP per year Juff. He obviously wasnt the franchise player then.
-
You are right that they could have missed the penalty Gribz but I think the only way to gauge this is to assume that they would have and as long as we are consistent on both sides of the fence then it should be relatively indicative over the season. Should maybe just take a note of the games they occur in as well so we can remind ourselves at the end of the season

5 year ???? WOW. Must not be paying high wages then !
-
Ahhhh, I see what you were saying now - I misinterpreted your previous post. Who knows what way it shakes but I hope Davis isnt being signed to play RM.
-
Thankfully this IS just fun.....
-
think you are right gisa !!!
-
Nae bother Jon - hope you are feeling better.
-
I think you are missing the idea on the "points" thing Jon. It isnt about whether teams deserved points against us or them. It is about how many points we and they have obtained due to the dodgy decisions. As we have had NO dodgy decisions go our way they couldn't have changed the points we have obtained. It should be ZERO points for us and 3 for Celtic. Instead of it being classed "points gained that shouldnt have been" it should be "points gained due to bad reffing decisions"

Looks like a design on the top
-
That is truly a horrid view. Given they like to fire the ball up to Samaras and/or JVoH - those punters will only see the ball for about 30 mins a game !!
-
I was having a joke with you..... you dont have to be overly serious all the time...... That teamtalk article was reproduced from the article that the OP posted.
-
I think Boyd and Velicka are too similar to be playing in the same team.
-
Correct. I was thinking about this and, in the interests of fairness, they COULD have got a penalty last week for the keeper's challenge on JVoH - even though the ball was going out of play he did bring him down - it was one of those might have/might not have instances.
-
If it wasn't for WHO he is Ferguson would struggle to get back into the team if Thomson and Mendes maintain that type of playing relationship. Thomson and Mendes almost immediately seemed to complement each other incredibly well. They inter-changed forward bursts, neat little one touch passes, generally seemed to know where each other would be at all times. I was very impressed with how well they seemed to complement each other given they had not trained together at all.
-
Come on now maineflyer, own up.... you didnt read the article that the original poster provided, did you ???? That exact quote you posted above was from the article in the OP's link.
-
Hate to be pedantic.... but are you not being just a tad unfair on Celtic ?? Or do you really think they should be on minus 1 point ? They have 4 so how could the refs have given them 5 ? I thought that Jon/Gribz would be updating it on both decisions for/against and also the points it has affected. I would say that the Tims have gained 3 points thus far from dodgy decisions - 2 last week (would have got 1 instead of 3 but for the penalty) and then got a point today they wouldn't otherwise have got.
-
A week ago and I wouldnt be confident of having 3 points from our first 4 matches...... now I actually CAN see us winning at both Pittodrie and the mechanodome.
-
And this is the inconsistency that bugs the shit out of me. When they were denied decisions at Ibrox last season there was a witch-hunt in the media when, in fact, those decisions were anything but clearcut. Today..... one of them was stonewall and the other two could easily have been given. A shame Levein got fined against us or he could have called the ref a cheat again. They got screwed out of 3 points the same way St Mirren got screwed out of a point last week. 2 games in and the Tims have already been handed 3 points by the fucking REF !!!!!! 2 last week (wasnt a penalty so they would have got one point, not 3 - and then today they got a point they shouldnt have)
