Get over yourself man. You have a snidey wee remark at someone for suggesting you try to start the wrongs of our club. Yet YOU staryed the ball rolling with your anti-RST rant - and then when someone asks you what you would expect of them you use deflection tactics. It is no better. SDM IS responsible for appointing managers but thereafter team affairs should be the responsibility of the manager. Can you tell me of ANY fan who did not laud the appointment of PLG ? You would struggle IMO - he was VERY highly sought after and SDM was acclaimed as having done a wonderful job in appointing him. Now.... when the shit hit the fan all of a sudden SDM was an idiot for appointgin him - sorry but that doesnt wash with me - hindsight is a wonderful thing for us fans but SDM is having to make REAL decisions without that benefit. He IS responsible for many of the wrongs of our club but trying to select the appropriate manager is something any chairman worth his salt does.

No bother big man. Enjoy your trip.
-
How do you know that PLG was offered more money ? Has that been confirmed anywhere ? Clement I liked, thought he was a good player, but I do think Thomson is better, at least in that he understands the Scottish game better. Sionko perhaps wasnt the greatest in his time here but he IS a right winger, which Novo isnt - I would like to have seen Sionko play in this 4-5-1 formation of WS's as he could have been a decent player in it (yes PLG deployed something similar - but Sionko only had half a season to adjust to the Scottish game).

Gribz.... what size do you want ?
-
tried to get the wee man the new home strip last week..... none in his size in ANY of the JJB stores I tried
-
I can see why you would suggest Eck - but I think WS is now proving that "back to the future" is not necessarily the right move (I will caveat this by saying we could be having a knee-jerk reaction.... but the performances for the last 9 months have been poor at best !!). I wouldn't want Eck back - as much for his sake as anything - he took plenty of abuse first time round and he definitely was under-funded by SDM and was expected to compete by being in the bargain basement......
-
But HAS SDM under-funded WS ? We bought Thomson in the January WS came in for over 2 mill (cant remember who else if any) and then last summer we spent about 14 mill, right ? Now this summer we have spent almost 9 mill SO FAR - so can we really accuse SDM of under-funding ? Yes, I know we have offset some of that by selling Hutton but money was still made available to WS - and how many of his signings could be considered a success ? ONE (Cuellar) - with Thomson still capable IMO - the rest have been no better than average.

So..... you would rather we continued with one up front and that he be a "runner" ? Sorry but our problem is a lack of goals from the strikers and when you have that then who will score for you ? Especially when your midfield consists of people like Dailly, McCulloch, Adam and Thomson - not one of them poses any real goal threat !! So we should now play with a midfield who cant score, a midfield who lack creativity and therefore can't creata chances, and a striker who will do more running for you but with little goal threat ? Sorry, but with the personnel we have we should be playing a 4-4-2 and Boyd should have a runner BESIDE him, not INSTEAD of him. -
I know it was bad but surely even we cant blame BF for a sub-standard performance last night..... :fish:
-
Agree for the most part Gribz. Disagree on Thomson though - I still think he is a fine player - he is suffering in the same way BF has..... absolute shite players round about him. Personally I would have liked to have seen Brown AND Thomson side by side - oh well...... As for the rest - it is hard to disagree with you. It was criminal watching Dailly ahead of Hemdani in that team - WS really has lost his senses !!!! Also disagree on Boyd - I don't think you can make that judgement on him when he isnt getting any match time (especially when you use the exact same argument as to why we should have kept Sebo - 5 mins here, 7 mins there - that is EXACTLY what Boyd has gotten since WS came in, for the most part).
-
And both of them had a shite scoring record and poor finishing - so it is hard to disagree with you Gribz !!
-
Agree Gribz... although some would argue that he had his last chance last night - and it would be somewhat justified. However, who would we get in ? And what would they do given they would have no cash to spend given the transfer windo would likely be shut by the time a successor came in ?
-
Whilst I understand the sentiments the blame for the squandering 9 million on complete pish lies firmly at the door of one man - WALTER SMITH. He has, to this point, either mis-managed his transfer funds OR has played Russian Roulette with our Euro season to wait for the midfielders we desperately need - a roulette he lost last night. The only way Smith is not to blame for the signings is if the signings were forced upon him, which I highly doubt they were.

Great post S_A - agree entirely. WS is being found out for his loyalty as he did in his first tenure. I thought that us losing the league last season was due to a lack of creativity - when the pressure isn't on you usually score goals and create chances. However when the pressure IS on and you don't have flair players you struggle more. Now, none of us are privy to the transfer dealings but I fail to see how we could buy Lafferty for near 4 mill BEFORE we plug the lack of flair in the midfield. Of course, maybe WS still has funds and is waiting for that flair player - but surely we shouldn't have been gambling with our Euro future in this way !! Ohhhh, and another thing, I happen to think that this all started with the sale of Alan Hutton. The short termism of taking the cash from that sale IMO cost us the league which, in turn, has cost us our Euro place and 10 mill. Depressing times indeed - almost glad to be living abroad right now.... Except there is a big Tim contingent in Bermuda ! -
Anyone Else Had An Argument With Their Misses Yet ?
craig replied to fraser54's topic in Rangers Chat
Not an argument per se... But she was made aware that I will not be in a happy mood for quite some time.... She just doesn't get how important it is !!! -
He just bought that house, right ?? He was supposed to be buying two at Ballochmyle but backed out when they reneged on the discount they originally offered him !! I actually thought about buying some land at Doonfoot to build on but eventually didn't. He lived next door to my cousin too and seemed keen enough on maintaining his fitness.
-
Forgot about Flamini !! And I had expected Gilberto to replace him - so if Wenger let him go then he must have designs on someone to come in and take that spot - Rosicky and Fabregas can play beside each other with Rosicky taking on the AM role and Cesc taking the DM - the interesting thing would be to see them both inter-changing that role during a game. I don't think that Arsenal will be as depleted as people think. They will sign another player or two as well - there is lots of time with the window open. They have Denilson too although I reckon he isnt quite ready yet.
-
I think we are quite right to be holding out on Davis. Fulham are trying to play hardball with us but why shouldn't we do the same with them when there hasnt been that much interest (seems like it is just us and Blackburn) - the only thing is you end up playing Russian Roulette. If we can save 1 mill in transfer fee that would be of good use to go towards wages, another player or even reducing the bank loans. Interesting Re Loovens too - looks a decent player and would be perfect foil for Cuellar as he seems to be a left sided CB which would be ideal obviously as Cuellar is right sided. Wouldn't mind us getting him as he seems to be uncompromising and from what I have seen has decent distribution. We need to sort out the midfield before the defence though. I reckon WS bought the 3 strikers expecting to get shot of a couple - and it is now biting him in the arse.
-
Actually I would go for Man U's CB pairing - I think Ferdinand and Vidic is a very potent combination. I am not convinced by either of those signings tbh Jon - they dont jump out at you - but then those are often the signings that come good. I understand your excitement having signed Keane - but with Rafa you never know if he will use the rotation - and there is nothing to suggest he wont - if he uses rotation then Liverpool will languish in 4th again. I honestly highly doubt they will challenge Chelsea and Man U (nothing to do with your love of Pool) because those two teams just know how to grind out results better than the rest, even when not playing well. Will be an interesting season though as Liverpool will be closer and Arsenal will challenge again, or at least they should, they have only lost Hleb and Lehmann really and Lehmann wasn't getting a game anyway and Nasri has replaced Hleb - they will have Eduardo back too.
-
A central defensive partnership is only as good as the partner - so Gribz's comparison is certainly valid. I would take any of those central defensive pairings before Liverpool's (except possibly Toure and Gallas - Toure is a great player but Gallas has become prone to too many errors). One other thing that Liverpool havent had in the EPL in the last couple of seasons is the winning mentality and grinding out results - will they have that this season ? Who knows..... only time will tell.
-
The only change I would have to your team Frankie is Adam playing on the left of the midfield 3 - Thomson should be the central cog in there because he has the stamina to track back all game - Adam is so one-paced it is unreal for a pro player and, for that alone, would be pushed to the left of the 3 for me. Aside from that I think that is the best we have given the personnel we have.
-
I did actually mean to say that I cant believe they are paying over 30 mill for Tevez - good player but not worth that amount ! I also agree that Man U's season could depend on what happens with Ronaldo - I know one player doesnt make the team but........ I also agree that Liverpool look stronger than Arsenal - Arsenal have a good team and are a year older but they dont have the strength in depth they need ! Fabregas apparently alluded that he would be keen on moving to Madrid sometime.
-
SAF is better at rotating his squad than Rafa will EVER be - SAF makes it work and it works well, always has for him. Man U will win the league again IMO - very strong defensively, strong in midfield and excellent up front - with Berbatov they will win it.
-
haha.... wasted money - still not good enough to win the league. I will still be taking your cash Jon boy
-
I think I would have a front 3 of Velicka, Boyd and Miller. Velicka can provide chances, Miller can do the donkey work and Boyd would do nothing except score goals...... Novo to come off the bench along with JCD as impact players. Defence and GK pick themselves - again - and the midfield right now would probably be as you have Gribz, except BF would be central with BH playing on the right. I just cant see WS going 4-3-3 though.
