Fair enough Gribz..... but Boyd has scored shit loads in the SPL for both Killie and Rangers. He is a proven goalscorer. Sure he may not be a proven European scorer but WS played a different team in Europe and Boyd was dropped - so why not play him where we KNOW he will score goals and have someone else who can do the business in Europe (not that he has had much chance in Europe either !!)? And what is it that we expect of our team each and every year ? To win the SPL. Where does Boyd score a shit load of goals ? The SPL. To me it seems like he has proven he can score for fun in the one competition we demand we win each year. But then, with goals not being important (right Pete ?) then we should probably get rid of the one guy who has consistently proven he can score in that same competition. I am sure you will use the "we havent won the SPL whilst Boyd has been at Rangers" argument - but you know what ? He doesn't make the team on his own - we all know that until WS came in we had a team AND a squad that was, quite frankly, pish. If it wasn't for Boyd's goals we could have struggled to make Europe, let alone the CL. Lets not also forget that we didn't win the SPL last year..... that would be the season in which Boyd was used very sparingly yet still was our top goalscorer.

I dont understand what you are suggesting above. Are you saying that we should be looking at signing player's of Rooney's quality ? Are you going to pay for him to come here because SDM sure isnt ! Coparing Wayne Rooney with Boyd isnt a good comparison IMO. We are in a completely different league when it comes to our squad and you know it as well as I do. You have to get the best players you can for the budget you have. We have the most lethal goalscorer in Scotland - proven. Would you rather have paid 5 mill for JVoH than have Boyd for 400k ? I know what my answer is.

If you are then all you need to do is look at his scoring record and you will see he has already proven it. Just where have I stated that he is a player that Man U, Real Or Chelsea would want ? Perhaps look at my post again and see what it was in reference to. It was in reference to keeping either Boyd or Cousin, not whether Boyd is a world beater. It is funny that anyone who dislikes Boys will ignore his goalscoring exploits and jump on the back of any post which suggests he can score goals. Oh no doubt Gribz, attitude is a huge reason. Cousin doesnt want to be here and, for that reason alone, I would rather he went than Boyd. Boyd still at least appears to want to be here, and I wouldnt want to keep someone who isnt interested. I have no doubts that Cousin is a better footballer than Boyd but the funny thing is....... Boyd gets slated for doing nothing and the team looks like it is playing with 10 when he is on the pitch and not scoring. The very SAME argument could be levelled at Cousin when he cant be arsed and, lets face it, it happened a LOT last season. Cousin is a better footballer Boyd is a more instinctive striker Cousin has better touch Boyd will score more goals Cousin is a better striker in a 4-5-1 Boyd would score for fun in a 4-4-2 Cousin more often than not cant be arsed Boyd wants to score That is the way I see it and I am sure some disagree. But for me I would rather have someone here who WANTS to be here. Now..... if it was the case that Cousin didn't want to be here but was playing well or at least trying then I would accept that - but with Cousin he doesn't want to be here, doesnt care when he is on the pitch (look at UEFA semi and the very next game against Dundee Utd - when he SHOULD have been sent off as well) and doesnt seem to give a shit when he isnt playing well. All of the above would be reasons I would let Cousin go rather than Boyd. So as you can see attitude is a big reason.

Might this injury force the management to get their arse into gear to get Steven Davis signed ? Davis and Thomson in the middle may actually work well. The one thing is for sure, we need to sign someone, even if just a loan signing.

Exactly what I was about to say. This may force Smith's hand - even if to just try to get someone in on loan. May also see us change formation IF we bring someone in.

Couldn't agree more Pete. Spending quality time with the family is very important. But if I have the means then I will buy the little one the tops, only if I have the means though. That doesn't mean that he isnt taught how to truly appreciate what he gets and the value of money. I come from a poor family so never had anything - I would like my kid to have nothing but the best (as every parent should want) but it will be because he wants to work hard for it, not just because it is handed down to him. Jon, making your kids work for their pocket money is akin to slave labour ya ignorant foo....... kidding - I think that is a good way to make them appreciate that in order to have things you have to work for them - adds to the appreciation for the money they get, knowing they worked for it (no matter how hard they worked).

If he is first team coach what is Kenny McDowall's role ? Never been too sure on that although I have no doubt he is a valuable member of the management Durrant wasnt the same player when he came back IMO - I thought he was one of the best talents this country EVER produced, I was a HUGE fan of Durrant.

I am in the same boat Jon. Pete is definitely right - as parents we COULD say no. Seems you and I though are those type of parents who find it hard to do that. Teaching them the value of money and that not everything is handed to them on a plate is a valuable lesson - I am not sure that it has to be by denying them something necessarily.

I agree Gribz - it is a blatant attempt to have a go at the manager and one of the most popular players - his way of engineering his moveby making his position at the club untenable (some would say similar to what PLG did with BF at the Gers....)
