  1. I wonder how difficult it would be to introduce that at Ibrox?
  2. I'd have Morelos starting. We'll need him to help relieve some of the pressure we'll be under. Hopefully Davies will be fit enough to play. I'd also expect either Davis or Kamara to come in for Matondo.
  3. Not sure how he can say that when the club made losses of £24m and £17m on the 2 previous years. That's just crazy if that's what he said. However it's also been said plenty of times that we need a player trading model to survive, which implies that transfer income is needed for us to break even.
  4. Damned if they do it half-arsed, damned if they don't.
  5. Yeah, I was surprised too, but perhaps because it was quick and done respectfully without it being anti- anything we got away with it.
  6. I thought that it had gone away and then reoccured, but ultimately doesn't really matter.
  7. Although King seemed to struggle for pace when he came on, but perhaps that was because the game had opened up a lot by then.
  8. Both sets of personal issues arose after we signed them, I believe.
  9. The minute's silence and the rendition of the National Anthem will live long in the memory. Well done to the club (and the UBs) for dealing with it so well.
  10. Davies has had personal issues to deal with as well, and perhaps the management feel he isn't quite ready?
  11. I did a business deal with him during his 3i days and didn't have any issues. I'd known him for a few years before that too and always found him to be good guy, and was surprised at his involvement here. I guess different people have different perceptions.
  12. Interesting. I had never heard of dividends being paid. I do remember that the price of the shares was £12.50 in 1986 when I first owned shares. The price was then reduced by 90% when there was a 10 for 1 scrip issue around 1991.
  13. Was the bid not made during that awful season in the Championship when we didn't get promoted? I think it was during the period before King and the 3 bears too over, when the Easdales and Llambias were on the board :shudder: The bid was reported as being for £20m, which undervalued the club. It did? Did Rangers pay dividends to its shareholders in the past?
  14. And reasoned and well-made posts like this are fine and required. The club does need to be questioned but the whole toys out the pram attitude that we've seen elsewhere is of no help and in many cases is counterproductive.

    Hysteria

I don't believe I've ever seen the levels of hysteria from our on-line support as I have in the last 48 hours. The manager should go. The board should go. The players aren't good enough etc etc etc. Yes, Saturday's performance wasn't good enough, but I don't see the need to go overboard. If we look at the 9 in a row seasons, only 4 had better league starts to the season than this one. Even the famous 92-93 season was worse at this stage. I hate to think what the internet would be like back then. We've qualified for the Champions League group stages. A fantastic feat, which appears to have been forgotten. We were in a European final a few months ago, the run to which have at least 5 games which would easily feature into my top 20 favourite Rangers games of all time. I don't believe any other season would have as many and wouldn't trade the memories of them that Gio helped give us. We didn't spend in the transfer window and I'm as disappointed as most on that, but there's a few potential reasons for that, including FFP, the SDI settlement being a lot higher than we'd thought, and future cashflows. We are still inherently loss-making and while we may be profitable last season and this season, we still need to plan ahead and look at next season and the cashflows required. There's even been allegations that the board are keeping the cash for themselves to repay their investments, but as he club will never pay dividends, that's patently untrue. Things may not be perfect at the moment but they're far from the disaster that many are suggesting.
  16. It did seem from Gio's post-PSV interview that he was expecting some movement in.
  17. It's disappointing that we've not used our position of playing in the CL to attract players and strengthen the team.
  18. It's the company that employed Spiers for many years, and supported his campaign of lies and bitterness against us, plus it helps subsidise the loss-making The National, so it's a no from me too.
  19. Not sure the relevance of these comments to my post, other than for you to attempt to insult a section of our support.
  20. I don't particularly like it. The song is celebratory in nature, which doesn't give the support any credit, given the nature of the subject matter. I also feel it allows some to use it to ignore the issues. It's an important subject that needs highlighted in the best way possible, but singing BJK isn't it, and does more harm than good, in my opinion.
  21. Not sure if this fits in with their role of being a Community Interest Company.
  22. Arfield and Davis played well but I'm going for Yilmaz, who looked really good.
  23. Yeah, you're right that it's different today than it was in the mid-90s, but the fall away of crowds didn't happen overnight. That season was only our second ever season in the CL group stages after being knocked out in the first round in the prior 2 seasons, so it certainly wasn't based on familiarity. However, it's a lot less likely to happen currently. There's also a moral argument. Based on the "it's justified if we sell it out" argument, we could sell any available OF tickets at £500 and sell them all, but we shouldn't just because we can. Flights for our last game ended up being cancelled due to overpricing and they couldn't get a smaller plane when the uptake wasn't great and we ended up with smaller crowds at our away games than we could have had so high prices have already had an impact.
