Arrest made after Aberdeen fans fly sectarian banner at Ibrox
Bluedell replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I fail to see why a banner that basically says "Kill all Protestants" is inoffensive, and why it's not a huge issue. "Kill all blacks" or "Kill all Jews" would quite rightly be front page news and it shows a certain amount of bigotry by the press and politicians for it to be largely ignored. There's an ongoing campaign for the "Hun" slur and therefore sectarianism to be normalised. We saw the sinister hanging of Protestant effigies being largely ignored. Banter? I think not. -
Gersnet Article Gio isn’t the root of the problem
Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
It's lazy to highlight Morelos and Kent. What about all the other players? Morelos has hardly played and Kent has arguably been our best player over the past month. I don't know anyone who wants Gerrard back. I honestly don't get the "most fans would take Gerrard back". Gio is responsible for the players' fitness which has seen a major downturn since last season and he's responsible for the tactics. Injuries may be an excuse as to the team underperforming as a whole but not poor tactical decisions with the players that are available. It also appears that he's lost the dressing room for some reason. I do agree with the point about the board. They have sunk millions into the club and continue to support the club financially. -

My mate said exactly the same thing about Tillman's first half efforts. Was calling for him to be subbed at HT. -

Gio seems to have been playing a 4-1-1-3-1 formation recently with one sitting midfielder and one who is behind the attacking 3 but joins them at every opportunity. Lundstrom was doing that in the first half but it's not really his game. Davis has also been given that role recently and it also doesn't suit him. Lundstrom went back and was the holding midfielder in the second half with Arfield in the "floating" role and it worked a bit better as it suits their natural games. -

I thought Kent, Wright and Morelos were our best players, and it says something when 2 of them were subs. Kent was dangerous throughout the game and gets my vote. -
Last sentence of the accounts.

We've committed to spending £9.6m on NEH and the stadium.
-
It appears that all then loans outstanding at the end of the previous financial year have been repaid but new loans were received. £12.2m of loans were outstanding at the year-end, mostly from John Bennett.
-
Repaying loans has no impact on profitability.

This was roughly my view until a couple of weeks ago. I'm now seeing a drop in fitness and ball skills compared to last season. Preseason was obviously a lot less successful than it was under Gerrard and that's partly the cause of the current on-field issues. That's got to fall at Gio's door. His tactics also seem part of the problem. Playing a right winger appears to restrict Tav's ability to get up and down, which has always been a major part of our play over the past few years. Is Tav injured? We don't know, but if he is then why is he taking penalties? If he's not then he's either being restricted by the formation or his approach, both of which Gio is responsible for. Lundstrum's reaction to losing the ball in the lead up to the first goal also suggests Gio doesn't have the squad fully behind him, and that'# difficult to recover from. There has been an overreaction from our support but many of the criticisms are justified.

Who'd be a Rangers director? They are good enough to lend the club money and it's used as a stick to beat them with when they get repaid.
-
Kent and Sakala were our best players but thought Kent deserved it.

I don't get the logic in their protests. It seems to be about the "managed decline" of Liverpool. I'm not sure what the Royal Family have to do about that as they aren't politicians.
-
I've heard from a good source that it's £10m!
-
It could be argued that they do have an obligation. Directors must consider the need to support business relationships with customers and others. It's obviously open to interpretation but there is an argument to say that they're not doing enough.

I'm fairly sure I was in section J for that game.

Miami investor still keen to buy stake in Rangers
Bluedell replied to Uilleam's topic in Rangers Chat
Don't think so. According to the MIH accounts, the purchase price was £5.4m, plus there didn't seem to be any cross-guarantees between Rangers and the Murray group at that point. The overdraft was still secured on the club's assets so MIH didn't take on any responsibility for it. -
Overall, it's favourable. It's not going to correct all mistakes, but it did seem to correct quite a few over the weekend, and that's got to be a bonus.

Bluedell replied to Uilleam's topic in Rangers Chat
Don't think so, mate. That was funded by bank overdraft, secured on the club's property (stadium and Albion). -
I thought Kent did fairly well, despite a lot of fans blindly assuming he was having a bad game. Put in a few good crosses and was our most creative player.

When did Marlborough put money into the club? -

Point 1 - so what? King is sniping because he wants his money back and there's been a fall-out along the way but that's always going to happen with business owners with massive egos. Point 2 - do we know that for sure? If he had been able to spend more, would he have turned down the AV job? I doubt it. Point 3 - One director has resigned over the past couple of years, and he previously resigned and came back. That happens all the time when businessmen feel they can't contribute meaningfully due to time. I'm not sure what the issue is. Points 4-7 - the board talked to a party who expressed interest in the club and then said no. Again, it'll be something that happens all the time, and we mostly wouldn't hear about it. We heard about it this time due to the behaviour of third party acting in an amateurish way. Hardly the fault of the board. We didn't lose in the US courts, did we? Point 8 - the board may be safeguarding the financial stability of the club over the next 5 years, and if so, can we criticise after what happened under Murray? Points 9-10 - not sure about the relevance of these points, but everyone agrees that things around the club can be improved, but it hardly that things stink. As you say, not much going on in isolation but even looking at them all, I can't get excited about them. -
Club Statement | RIFC raise injunction proceedings in the US

In terms of statements etc, we're a lot better under Park. His ongoing feud on the cinch deal and allegedly looking for an apology does seem childish though. -

It could be that a confidential out-of-court settlement has been reached. Best to get it out of the way anyway and not having management time focusing on something time-consuming that's overseas. Most of them were driven by King, were they not? His ego had a lot to answer for. -
Match Thread [FT] Rangers 1 (Arfield 17) - 7 Liverpool

The Goldson injury was massive. No way do they score as many if he's in the park.
