  1. Tell all the tims you know.... Mon the Rangers!
  2. Sectarian rules branded biased by Rangers fans By Ronnie Esplin, PA Tuesday, 17 February 2009 SPL match delegate Alan Dick could mention some of the chants and songs that appeared to come from the away support during Sunday's goalless draw at Celtic Park The Rangers Supporters Trust today warned they will question the motives of the Scottish Premier League's unacceptable conduct policy if the club's fans are reported for alleged sectarian chanting during the Old Firm derby. It is understood SPL match delegate Alan Dick could mention some of the chants and songs that appeared to come from the away support during Sunday's goalless draw at Celtic Park. Dick reported Rangers to the SPL in August 2007 under similar circumstances following the Ibrox club's trip to Inverness and, while there was no action taken, there was a warning of sanctions should there be any future complaint. Rangers have campaigned tirelessly in recent years to rid the club of its sectarian baggage but the SPL would come under pressure to punish them if they are presented with evidence of more transgressions. However, RST spokesman David Edgar told PA Sport another black mark against the supporters' reputation would, in their eyes, raise questions about the SPL's agenda. "While it is difficult to comment until we've seen the report, we are looking forward to an even-handed and consistent approach to the application of this legislation," Edgar said. "We find it hard to believe that Rangers fans are the only fans in the country who have ever sung an offensive song; yet we are the only ones who have been reported under the rules. "There were instance of distasteful chanting coming from both ends on Sunday but, yet again, the focus is only on one set of fans. "It therefore becomes very difficult for the supporters to understand what is going on. "Are the rules genuinely in place to eradicate offensive chanting or simply to punish Rangers? "What about Aberdeen fans singing about the Ibrox disaster or Celtic fans singing about Nacho Novo and the IRA? "We are committed to ridding Scottish football of all genuinely offensive chanting and Rangers fans have responded magnificently over the last couple of years. "However, we are left with wondering if this is a rule for all the SPL clubs or are a rule simply for Rangers." Rangers escaped punishment for the Inverness affair after the SPL board took into account the club's efforts to eradicate unacceptable conduct by some of their supporters. The incident at the Caledonian Stadium 18 months ago came just nine days after the launch of Rangers' 'Follow With Pride' campaign, which was aimed at cleaning up the club's image by ending sectarian and other abusive chanting. However, the club had previously been fined on two occasions by UEFA for offensive chanting in Champions League and UEFA Cup matches, amounting to in excess of £21,000. Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist played down speculation that the Ibrox club will be up on yet another SPL charge. McCoist, who will take control of team affairs for tomorrow's Homecoming Scottish Cup trip to Forfar, said: "I don't know enough about it. "I don't know what the delegate said in his report; I've not seen anything so I wouldn't comment on it." An SPL spokesman would not comment on any specific case but explained the process involved if the match delegate brings anything untoward to their attention. He told PA Sport: "We are expecting the match report in the next 24 hours, which is normal following a Sunday game. "In general terms, if the delegate flags up any incidents involving crowd behaviour, we cross-check with police, match officials and the clubs involved to get a broad feel for the issue. "We would then write to both clubs to comment or provide additional information and then we can make an assessment. "If we do think there has been a breach of the rules, we pass it on the SPL board, who take a formal view."
  3. Rangers wait for £2m deadline skipper bid 08:38 AM 01 February, 2009 Newcastle United are poised to take advantage of the precarious financial situation at Ibrox by making a late move for Barry Ferguson. Rangers' need to sell has not changed throughout January and with Kris Boyd seemingly going nowhere, Ferguson will be sacrificed if the Premier League outfit come up with £2m to pair the Scotland man with recent signing Kevin Nolan in midfield.
  4. For the first 45 mins we played long high balls up the park which was driving me and a load of folk around me up the wall!! Whats the point in high balls when UTD's defenders are about 6'7? Boyd was awful today, didn't really look up for the game and was brushed off the ball all to easily, Fleck was by far our best player with Davies and Mendes playing well also. Barry didn't look too crash hot again and lost the ball a few times with sloppy passing. Whitiker was pretty bad at times. A shame to see Nacho go off with what looks like a bad sprain. Got the result in the end though and at the end of the day, that is all that matters.
  5. Link keeps sticking for me... Works for the first 4 seconds then stops
  6. If we managed to lobby the authorities and gain entry in to the EPL then even if the big money owner pulled out it would be 100 times easier to replace that owner with another big money owner so I'd take the 5 years of success, I wouldn't imagine that the 10 years of 'nothing' would put us in a worse position than we are already in to be honest. I doubt we will ever get a buyer like Man city due to the fact we are in the SPL no one would want to invest in such a poor league, the only thing we have going for us is that we are pretty much going to have a stab at Europe every year, but, would that be enough for you to put hundreds of millions of pounds in to a club? And if it was to be an Arab/Russian owner then they probably won't know/care about our proud tradition and history...
  7. Yeah, I think he can play until the decision is made on the appeal so he should be alright to play.
  8. The thing about City is that even with all the money they have, they are still looked upon as one of the lower rated teams in the EPL, until they win the league a few times and get results in Europe I doubt any top class players (Kaka) will want to go. If it was Man Utd. that were trying to sign Kaka then I think it would be a different story!
  9. Is this not what Walter was famous for in his last regime? Playing potentially good players in the wrong place thus making them look like utter donkeys? I read somewhere in another post that people were still in the NIAR mind set, the thing about the NIAR is that Rangers had no one to challenge us... we had the upper hand because Celtic were just shite... the shoe seems to be on the other foot now and with Celtic out of Europe now it can only get worse for us because they will be going tooth and nail to get 4 in a row and we dont look like putting up much of a fight...:box:
  10. Agreed RE the Piper on the pitch, i'd gladly offer my services free of charge for the honor of piping on the hallowed turf while fellow britons remember the fallen. I've piped at many a parade and although I will never truly appreciate the feelings and the loss felt by the friend's and family's of the hero's who give their life's without even a second thought, I will always be proud to salute them.
  11. Were you watching george burley? I f*cking hope so.
  12. Thats what we pay our taxes for...
  13. Not captain Kirks biggest fan, however, I do think that over the past few months he has improved and he looks a lot more confident. I think given another season or two he'll be right up there so in that respect I wouldn't want to see him go, but, if we can sign a better RB or at least on with more potential with the money we get from his sale then I'd be happier! Lovenkrands coming back would be good for us IMO I think he would give us that cutting edge that we need, he's got killer pace and can score goals as well but I suppose it depends on the price tag, wouldn't want to pay any more than £1.5 - £2 million for him.
  14. Reckon we'd get Hutton back if they go down? January sales and all that:devil:
  15. I think walter is right in what he is saying here. Lets not forget that if blackburn had to play Celtic or indeed Rangers the score line probably wouldn't be 3-0 blackburn... The guys should get over his own ego.
  16. R.I.P Sad news indeed, very loyal to his club, always had their best interest's at heart... more than can be said for some...
  17. You have the right to tell them to cancel the whole order and get all your money back, get back to them.
  18. Rangers striker Nacho Novo claims he has received death threats as part of the Old Firm rivalry and insists he could never play for Celtic. Novo chose Rangers ahead of Celtic when he left Dundee in 2004 and according to the Spaniard, that has not been forgotten by the Parkhead fans. He said: "Rivalry between the teams remains something more than sporting. I have even received death threats this year. "I have seen on YouTube there is a video with a guy singing with his guitar that he hopes I die. That kind of thing has an impact on you. Threatening "In the four years I have been here, I have been through everything. Every time I face Celtic, the tyres of my car are punctured, the windows of my house are broken and I have been sent threatening letters. It is a pretty disagreeable situation." Novo, quoted in the Mail on Sunday via a Spanish football magazine, added: "Rangers have treated me so well, the fans have become like a family to me. "No matter how much money was put in front of me, I would never sign for Celtic." *********************************************** Just a thought, but, does anyone else agree that the government and SPL should be looking more at this than getting their panties in a twist about some daft song?? Is this the kind of world we live in these days? where a song about tatties is more to worry about than a man being threatened with his life because of who he works for??
  19. Not that I'm a tim hugger or anything but look at the teams on there!! Man utd. Barcelona, AC Milan... We would struggle to get a result off most of the teams on that list...
  20. When you walk through a storm hold your head up high And don't be afraid of the dark. At the end of a storm is a golden sky And the sweet silver song of a lark. Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain, Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown. Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone, You'll never, ever walk alone. Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone, You'll never, ever walk alone.
  21. Fine idea, that would rile them up to fuck eh:thup:
  22. Its not the same... They dont mean it when they sing it... Sorry Del... Couldn't resist! lol
