  1. I'd go with.... ........................McGregor................ .............. Bardsley........Hemdani........J-Rod............Smith ..............Rae................Adam.................... Martin......................................................Prso .....................Sebo..........Boyd....................... I don't think Fergie is fit enough. I think Boyd needs someone up front to play off, as does Sebo. Besides, why have we paid good money for Sebo if he's not going to play? Prso in a bit of a free role coming in from the left and providing link-up play.
  2. We just don't have the money to spend at the moment. DM obviously wants to get the club debt free and we're going to have to accept that. OK so he has to shoulder much of the blame for us being this far in debt in the first place, but at least he's sorting things out now, albeit so he can sell the club. I guess part of his reasoning behind getting PLG was due to his track record of bringing young talent on and succeeding on a limited budget. It might be lean times just now, but things can only improve on and off the park over the long term. Just have to be patient.
  3. I don't think Fergie is fully fit and he's been rushed back when there's been no need to do so.
  4. Its too early for the doom and gloom, but I really wish we'd get back to playing with 2 strikers and sort out the lightweight midfield. Why was Sebo signed only to sit on the bench? Against Hibs last week, when Boyd came on, I think the first touch Sebo had was to lay off a header to Boyd. This was the sort of link-up between strikers that I haven't seen for a very long time at Ibrox. As for the defence, on what I've seen so far, Papac and Hemdani should be given a chance. I know it was only Dunfermline, but that pairing looked the best I've seen in a while for us. McGregor? Make him number 1, extend his contract. He's proved me and I'm guessing, a lot of other people wrong and deserves a run in the team now. If Letizi does walk back in to goal when fit, I'll lose a lot of respect for PLG as that's exactly the sort of BS we all slated Eck for. Looking at our squad on paper, I think its the strongest we've had in a while. But as with the last couple of seasons, we seem to be hampered by underperforming players and tactical naivety. Which is just bizarre considering the change of manager and backroom stuff. I get the feeling its going to be a very long season again unfortunately.
  5. Listening to it on the radio it sounded like McGregor kept us in it for the first half hour, I think he's done enough to be considered our number 1, but apparently Letizi will come straight back when fit. I'm not surprised we got beaten today, I don't think anyone here can say they honestly expected us to win. PLG seems a wee bit tactically naive which I didn't expect at all and its strange that more of the team haven't taken his appointment to be a wake-up call. There's a distinct lack of urgency about us, no leadership on the pitch and we're incredibly inconsistent.

    Tonight

I thought Papac looked the part though, finally looks like we might have a decent centre half.
  7. Excellent point Cammy. For proof of this, just look at some of the problems we've had on the pitch this season already. These exact same problems were there last season too. PLG is no miracle worker and needs to be given time. Most of us said we'd be happy to write this season off if we showed progress, built for the future etc. But already the knives are out.
  8. Hemdani and Fergie can't play in the same team, but that won't stop PLG trying where AM failed. I'd like to see Rae, Adam and Hemdani in the middle there. I think that would give us a better mix of players.
  9. They can probably justify it by the savings he's made off the field. I think one of his targets was to get the wage budget under control and he achieved that ahead of time. His performance as far as signings go though is pretty poor considering the situation we were left in after the transfer window towards the end of last season.

    Deja Vue?

Sorry, but for a long time now Barry has been surviving on his past reputation. I can't remember the last time he had a few games in a row where he was back to his best, running the show and dominating everything from one penalty box to the other. He's just a shadow of his former self tbh and I don't think we can carry someone like him just now. Hemdani & Clement have played well, but we need someone alongside them with a bit of passion and drive. Its time to try Adam or Rae I think and let Barry get fully fit in the reserves.

    Deja Vue?

PLG definitely needs time, there's no doubt about that and I don't think anyone is on the guy's back seriously. Some of us need to remember just how rank rotten we were last season. But, its because we know how bad we were last season, that we can't understand how some of the same patterns are repeating themselves this season. Over the last few seasons, this is one of the worst Gers defences I've ever seen. Maybe having a keeper like Klos hid just how bad the problem is, but why can we not get a solid back four any more?
  12. The problem with Boyd is that his lack of work outside the 18 yard box wouldn't be so noticeable if we were playing a 4-4-2 with maybe Sebo/Prso up front for him to play off. But as it is, he looks isolated and isn't the sort of player to creat stuff. He's an out and out striker, but I still don't think you could drop him. I'd be interested to see PLG change things slightly. I still think the midfield is too defensive and once again we saw that playing Fergie and Hemdani together just doesn't work. I'd say that at home in the SPL, playing Hemdani and Clement together is overkill. You could drop one of those and play a more attacking/creative player like Buffel as an attacking midfielder, two wingers and then the front two. I just don't think playing in our league merits two defensive/holding midfielders. Maybe its just me, but I'd really like to see Prso/Sebo starting alongside Boyd, as a proper strike partnership.
  13. Rangers in poor away performance against Euro no-namers. Hardly a shock, is it? We should be used to that sort of performance in Europe by now. I bet PLG's not very happy though. McGregor played well though and now deserves his chance as number 1. Apart from him, I thought it was a pretty miserable performance and it was disappointing to see Fergie playing the sort of match he's been doing since coming back to us. Apart from a handful of games last season he's been a passenger and we just can't afford to carry any players like that.
  14. I'm still not convinced about having Fergie, Clement and Hemdani in the same starting XI. With Martin & Burke playing well and Sionko doing well on international duty, I'd have to go for 2 of them to start. As for Boyd, he has to start, I can't see any reason to drop him.
  15. I think his performance, as with other keepers, will depend a bit on the back four playing in front of him. If we can cut out the un-forced errors and looking shaky at set pieces, then I'd be a lot more confident.
  16. Papac is cup-tied for Europe apparently. Which rings a bell as part of the rush with the Sebo deal was to avoid him being cup-tied. I don't think Hemdani will be dropped as he's played well, but I'm not sure how 3 similar midfielders in there will help us.
  17. Just wondering what the long term strategy is, that's all. I'm assuming it would be Papac and Svensson, but J-Rod has been our best central defender so far even though that's not saying much. having said that, to play devil's advocate, our defence looked well shaky last year with J-Rod in it, so maybe its time for a change as its still looking decidedly iffy.
  18. How about.... Letizi Bardsley-----Papac & Svensson-----Smith Martin-----Clement & Ferguson-----Prso Boyd & Sebo Martin seems to be right footed, so you could stick him out on the right to accomodate the two forwards up front with Prso playing a bit more of a free, link-up role coming in from the left. I'd like to see what Boyd & Sebo could do when paired together and given a couple of games. Prso could then be subbed/rested with Buffel, Burke or Sionko coming in and the midfield being shuffled accordingly. Its great to have so much competition for places in the team now. It'll be interesting to see if Papac plays or if he's just here to give us some more squad depth.
  19. Unbelievable. But let's just forget about him and never mention his name again.
  20. Exactly. Should save a bloody fortune on the monthly wage bill. Best of luck to Malcolm and big Marv though.
  21. From the BBC Sport website.... Out-of-favour defenders Olivier Bernard, Marvin Andrews and Bob Malcolm have been paid off by Rangers. Clicky
  22. Good luck to Novo, another player who has been unlucky with injuries and being played out of position, he never really hit his stride last season. Great to see us getting money for him though.
  23. Should be in place ready for the start of next season then
  24. We'd never be able to afford Woodgate's wages anyway. PLG wants another defender, but its still dependent on players leaving today. Its strange, because he's saying that it would be better for all concerned if these players left, but the club don't seem to be doing much about it. Should we not be looking to pay the guys off or something? Surely it can't be that much more expensive than keeping them on at their combined wages.
  25. I'm really surprised no-one has come in for Malcolm on the strength of his performances last season. Or maybe they have and money is the issue. Same goes for Big Marv, you'd have thought someone would take him. I'd hate to think money was the issue and that both those players would happily play reserve footy so they can pick up their big wage packets.
