I think Boyd is the biggest miss from that lot, but Buffel's form has been promising, so I'm guessing he'll start in the hole behind Prso and a lot will be expected of him. Do any of our new midfield signings have a record of getting goals from their position? Seems to be something we've missed since Albertz left and since Fergie stopped producing the goals.

Brave man. I guess he'll just have to know when to get out. If things are starting to go bad, time to get someone else in and stick to director-type things.
-
I guess Smith is first choice with Murray as backup, so there really is no place for Bernard, especially if he is on that sort of weekly wage.
-
The young lad has been asked to go to the Gunner's pre-season training camp with the first team, so I think we can scratch another one off the list.
-
The Cole to Chelski rumours just won't go away though and he does appear to be Mourinho's missing piece of the jigsaw. I can still see it going through, Arsenal could probably sign a few players with the proceeds and Cole has slagged them off, so surely it'll happen now? As for Duff, what a signing for Newcastle, but this makes me sick (yet again) that we're not in the Premiership to be able to sign this calibre of player. It'll be interesting to see if Newcastle can finally get things right on the pitch this season or not.

Yeah, I think that's the case with Webster, he can go where he wants but the fee situation is different. Sad to see Marv go, he's given us some great memories and his passion was never in doubt, one of the few guys who always gave 100% whenever he played for us. I wish him all the good luck in the world wherever he goes.

PLG says it would be good for him to come, but that Sebo wanting to come isn't enough. He also says he's happy with the strikers we have, Dado, Nacho and Boyd. Sounds like we might be clutching at straws with this one a bit, but I still hope something can be worked out. Well, what is it, just over a week or so until kickoff? What do you think, will there be some more faces coming in and going over the next 7 days?
-
I thought Svensson was signed as a starter, but PLG has said that our youth players are poor and that Furman (I think, or one of the other guys) was "too young" to be considered a first team player yet. So that also rules out a few of his other signings too on that basis.
-
Disappointing if we lose out on a player for what seems like not much money. The lad is a young player with loads of potential, so its hardly a high risk move to pay a bit more for him.
-
Its a good get-out clause for them, they can just say that the club couldn't afford to keep them and so had to move on. Man Yoo would be the obvious club to benefit as they're the ones who really need to strengthen this season, but its strange seeing them coming out and admitting that yip, they'd love to plunder the clubs who have been relegated. Very public way to do things.
-
Today he's in the papers demanding a move which is a good thing. We've upped our offer, apparently to about 1.2M, but with the Austrian season starting, time is running out.
-
No surprise though is it? We've all known that our youth system would appear to have been largely crap at bringing guys through over the last while. It was also one of the first things PLG noticed and wanted to change, but remember that he's brought in a few under 20 players already. Hopefully things will change over the next few years, but it could be slow progress.
-
I'm really excited about PLG's attitude to buying young players and it could really be the start of something big for us. Its just hard not to glance down south and see the sort of players that mid-table and just-promoted sides in the Premiership can afford.
-
The fact Duff is considering going to Spurs only reinforces what I've always thought, that if ourselves and Celtic were in the Premiership, we'd make an impact. With the added TV money on top of our gate receipts and following, you can only imagine the quality of player we could attract (and afford) to Ibrox. It'll never happen obviously, but its nice to dream sometimes.
-
The fact he's signed a one year deal is surely progress, far too often in recent times we've signed guys in this sort of position on 3 year deals and then struggled to get rid of them if they're crap.

I'm in the same boat, I'm not sure exactly where a lot of the new guys play. I think Boyd will start no matter what, so I think that points to a formation like Frankie's to be honest.

Yeah, was just going to add "but I'm not gay or owt" to that posting but my PC crashed!

I remember having his poster on my wall from Rangers News, they used to do those large two page spread posters and I had my room covered with them, all the first team and reserves.

If you can put up the PayPal details, I'll stick something in.

Is Billy PLG's new best friend?! Seems to be cropping up all over the place! Maybe PLG just rates him?
-
I've been wondering about the formation too, we seem to have quite a few midfielders now and I'm not sure where exactly they all prefer to play.
-
Nice pics, thanks for those! Good to see that Adam has played his way in to PLG's plans.

Bernard, Malcolm and McCormack (obviously) never went to SA as they've all been told to sort out moves to other clubs. Gers are keen to land Niklas Bendtner on a season loan as PLG and Colleu know the player and what he can do, but Arsenal don't want him to go and there's talk about a fee being involved. Colleu says he knows nothing about Di Vaio, but does say that they are working on one or two more players, whose identity will be kept a secret. As for Ricksen, apparently the players were well warned what would happen if they stepped out of line and Colleu said that "PLG does what he says".
-
lol And then didn't really do much after that, or set Doncaster alight with his performances either, although Malpas says he's seen an improvement in him since he returned. I know we were harsh on AM for putting the guy out to loan instead of playing him, but now PLG has also come to the same decision, that he obviously isn't anything special.
