the media had trouble happening the minute the draw was made. had to laugh at the interviews in manchester. you have thought that they had been raped and pilaged!!!

although we are not playing that brilliantly at the moment i do like the way we are trying to play the game. the long punt up the park has vanished and has been replaced by by a more organised passing game. Naismith and miller in particular seem to benefit from this change in style as both have been standouts in recent weeks. For most part though we seem to play in second gear and do just enough to win the game. yesterday it took a goal from st johnstone to give us a kick up the arse and last week it was boughy clearing off the line. that said on both occasions we did in fact pick up the pace and scored some quality goals on the way. I am much happier as a fan with our style of play. I have been smiths biggest critic over the last couple of years were the standard of football is concerned and can see a vast improvement this season. players are starting to shine again in the team and there is an element of entertainment too. its only 3 games into the season and we will improve. agree about beattie. looks a total waste of money. i just dont see what he brings to the team. has had very little influence so far.

no they are going to give him a seat in the stand!!!

yeah just stick on your uniform, lift some c*nt for f all and use his ticket. infact lift someone else too and get me one!

build them up to great heights and then watch them fall. let them think theyre world beaters. theres nothing the rosie and jims like more is praise, especially from their own!
-
hes scored at every level hes played so he comes with a bit of pedigree. 4 million is a lot of money to us but in todays transfer market its peanuts. i think we have got our selves a bargain here.

the forty grand a week seems to be the last thing that was on his mind!!!!!!! personally im gutted hes left. utter shite.

taken from beatties diary : Played for Rangers. played shit. note to diary: must get fit and run faster!
-
didnt see anything to shout about. his pace was terrible. overall a mediocre performance. hell have to up his game if he is to command a regular slot.

taking all things celtic in to account and the manner in which we played in pre season im far more optimistic than i was 2 months ago. depth in squad will be our biggest enemy.

the one thing that stood out against newcastle was the exclusion of the long ball from our tactics. we took the game to newcastle when we had the ball and played as a unit. And guess what? we played well and won! So thats that arguement shot down in flames! I am delighted to see Rangers showing a bit of form albeit a preseason friendly but it does bode well for all concerned as we actually showed a touch of class, especially were the goals were concerned. There was the guile and inventiveness that we have all craved over the last couple of seasons and hopefully this will be the norm for the forthcomming season. If we can maintain this show of form and standard of play then the future may not be as bleak as we fear right now.

as predicted on this site 30 seconds after the rumour broke we cant afford his wages!!!!
-
there was a day when you got these games for free. the mhanks got their cl qualifier for nowt too.
-
actually i would rather play with flair and guile and win. I am going to say my last on smith and leave it at that. had our chairman recognsed smiths shortcommings and his innability to compete at the highest level instead of throwing all our cash at him and employed a better of quality of manager then we might not be in the mess we are in now. hes hed far too many chances and wasted far too much cash trying to take us too the next level. hes right there in the thick of it as far as our problems are concerned and should be held accountable for the part hes played.
-
if all i was bothered about was the result id watch out for them on the telly. mcleish did extremely well with limited very limited resources but was slated for the quality of his gameplay yet were to applaud smith? last season was a one horse race and we got lucky. given the mhanks start and the fact they have an inexperinced manager this time round we will have a fighting chance this season too. our fate will rest on good fortune and circumstance, nothing else.

Kuanus and Unirea. If you dont think we were humiliated by those two then you are either blind or have the skin of 6 rhinos! Smiths record is diplorable. and as for his style of play, it isnt that he chooses it, its the only way he knows. hes a one trick pony. i am of the thinking that football that isnt worth watching isnt worth playing so i dont accept the dour but effective excuse that is used in the defence of smith. our manager is limited in his ability, its plain for all too see.
-
ill be very suprised if we buy him or any one lse for that matter.
-
thats all we need, 3/4s of the first team in the scotland squad!
-
selling davis could prove to be the straw that breaks the camels back for a lot of fans. can see a few sbs being returned if that happens.
-
we usually accdept the first offer that comes in so expect a low bid to be accepted.
-
just got a text saying that everton are in for Davis. anyone else heard this?
-
Im sorry but last season was more down to tony mobray than walter smith. There was no great tactics employed to win it. It was a poor league quality wise and i have always maintained that we could have played a better quality of football with the players at our disposal.

Something i realised whilst watching the Celtic Lyon game
gisabeer replied to a topic in Rangers Chat
and after Wenger subbed most of the starting 11! -
The Uefa cup final came as a result of failing to make the grade in CL so its hardly something to shout about. The last time the hairs actually stood up on the back of my neck at a football game was against Villereal. I doubt they will ever stand up whilst Smith is in charge. Unirea, Kuanus.... the list is endless under smith if we are mentioning managers failings. There is nothing great about smiths sides. The dont play football or cant and its down to his inability to take a game to the opposition. he trys to stop the other team from playing whilst hoping to nick a goal along the way. And its very difficult to watch too. Football shouldnt bore the fans to death. Ibrox is a morgue for the fans due to smiths inability to entertain on the park. He continually hides behind the excuse of having no money whilst having brought in something like 17 players in his second tenure. After reaching The 2008 uefa cup final we should have been clear of the debt that haunted us for the previous eight years but his gross mismanagement from that point on has been a major contributary factor in our financial predicament now. I wont be remembering him fondly at all and i amazes me that so many turn a blind eye to smiths short commings, both Fans and the media.

Mcleish got us through to the latter stages of the CL, the first and only time any manager has done so. He also achieved this without having a penny to spend. Advocaat did beat some very decent teams and was very unlucky not to make it through to the latter stages. He did though have us competing with the cream of europe and playing football that was worth watching. Smith doesnt even come close to any of them. I certainly dont rate him as our second best mnanager of all time.
