  1. Terrible times indeed. times where tough when we imploded financially and Dicks reign came to an abrupt end. I envisaged a period of transition with blue skies at the end of a very rock road and the club getting back on its feet again. And for a short period of time just after the Uefa cup final i felt a sense of security and well being that i hadnt felt in years. We had rode the storm and the club was infact getting back on its feet.... or so we thought. Now as character building goes for the average Rangers fan the period between the advocaat years and the uefa cup final was a grueling exercise that took us all to our most extreme limits. But we saw it through. We never flinched on match days. We were still there in the stands supporting the team. Through thick or thin. Win lose or draw. and we caught a brief glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. These are the barren years that bill struth spoke of all those years ago. Without going into the full quote that has become legendary amoungst us fans of the light blue jersey, they were just words that made me proud to be a Rangers fan when i first read them. I didnt though expect to experience the harshness of their meaning, nor did i fully realise the implications of what they meant. wise words indeed and great foresight from our great man. infact i sometimes wonder through these dark times if the old codger had a crystal ball on his desk in the managers office! No other will ever have a greater understanding of what it is to be part Glasgow Rangers football club. The aftermath of the Uefa cup final was just another in a long line of false dawns but a very pivotal one. It was the moment we actually hit rock bottom, though we didnt realise it at the time. When you get there though there is only one way you can go and that is up. Believe it or not that is where we are heading. It may not seem it right now but we actually are, albeit at a very slow pace. we can only guess at the goings on behind the scenes in the boardroom but i do not doubt for minute that there will be individuals in there fighting tooth and nail for our club. It is in those people whoever they maybe that we must lay our trust. So we must continue to do what we do best and support the club. we have had our say and vented our anger and frustrations but we have to stay strong and believe that there will be light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how long it takes. Time to stand up and be counted again im afraid, theres another long rocky road that lies ahead and its no place for the faint hearted. if you thought the last 7 years were bad then you aint seen nothing yet. This isnt about walter smith. its not about SDM. Its about Glasgow Rangers Football Club, and its somethging we should never forget on the long Journey ahead.
  2. i was screaming at davis for standing by and watching just as whittaker got skinned at the goal. Davis is every bit as bad as whittaker and lafferty. They are bringing absolutely sod all to the side but get picked every week.
  3. No he hasnt. hes been decidedly average at best bar that game . one good game in 10 is hardly the basisis for any optimism. he cant live of one good performance. In saying that though whittaker has been doing it since he scored that goal against sporting lisbon.
  4. This is the "we dont think walters any good club" Membership fee is a litre of jack daniels single barrel. (to be drunk before any Rangers game)
  5. sorry i dont see anything in his game that should encourage your optimism
  6. he should have retired at the end of last season on a high. it was said at the time and it has been proved to be the best advice. someone upstairs should have made the decision or at least have the foresight to see it was the best thing for the club. I could see us going down hill under smith at an alarming rate so i dont understand how they could be so blind in the board room.
  7. Shouldnt be a rant mate it should be an obituary. It is very sad to see walter smith give an interview these days. He is finished. It is written all over his face. you can tell that he has nothing left to give to the club, he is running on empty. On the park he continues to make the same mistakes with his team selections formations and tactics. Its staring him in the face, but he refuses to see what is in front of his nose. And the end product is a game of football that has not been and is not worth watching. And that isnt going to change. we will continue to see the same problems recur as the weeks go by and it will be the same complaints from the fans who can see the same mistakes on a weekly basis. Were just not going to get any better while smith is still in charge. I dont know if smith has an exit plan or is waiting to get pushed, but whoever makes the decision it has to be sooner rather than later. we simply cant go on like this anymore.

    Optimism

walter smith is a broken man. win lose or draw the quality of his football is quite simply not worth watching. and no matter what he tries with his mind boggling team selections formations and tactics it just doesnt work for him. he seems to be blind to the problems on the park when theyre staring all of us in the face..
  9. Whittaker, davis, naismith McCulloch and lafferty are simply not good enough to wear a Rangers jersey. whittaker in particular is being shown up on a weekly basis and just about every goal we concede comes down his wing. Im well fucked off with Davis as there is nothing in his game that brings anything to the team. Naismith other than 1 or 2 games this season has looked well out of his depth. As for McCulloch, well much the same as Dailly we are sitting waiting on one of watties favourites contracts running out. Lafferty boggles my mind. what just is it that you have that provoked Walter to waste 3.5 million pounds on you son? Too many playing poorly on a continual basis but still finding favour with our cluless manager who is also being shown up on a week to week basis at just how badly he is doing his job. and we just have to sit here and grin and bear it.
  10. Seems the question was aimed at anyone who attends ibrox. I really dont know how you can question anyones right to stay when they pay good money to watch and support the team. If anyone is booing and venting their anger its down to the product on the park. Its not very pretty to watch.
  11. Paying fans who have forked out good season book money over the last 10 years through thick or thin win lose or draw have every right to vent their opinions. if it wasnt for the win lose or draw brigade we wouldnt have a club. Im one of them. Ive been late with my mortagage twice in the last 6 months as im pretty godamn skint but still feel the need to support Rangers to the ends of the earth. Right now im climbing over hot coals to support the club and will be for the forseable seasons. So i dont take too kindly to anyone questioning my loyalty or what i do to support the club.
  12. Yet again walter smiths tactical ineptness has been brought to the fore on the European scene and again he seems to escape with little or no critisism. His teams performances have Ranged from cringeworthy to totally humiliating but no one ever questions the lack of direction or ability of his teams on the big stage. Hes had somewhere in the region of 8 attempts in the European cup/ CL and has fallen flat on his face bar one season in 1993. Even the fortunate Uefa cup run was a direct result of failure in the CL. This season we have seen probably the worst performances ever on the European stage. And Smith looked like a complete amatuer with his team selections tactics and decision making. So why does he escape the critisism that should come with his failings. its very plain to see that he just doesnt have what it takes to compete at CL level. Stevie wonder can see that. But not a word in the media. Alex McCeish won a treble and a double and qualified for the Cl knockout stages with no money to spend yet was hounded out of Ibrox because the football wasnt good enough. Yet we are all led to believe that Walter Smith is some sort of legend for winning a one horse race 6 times with a sackful of cash first time round and blowing 30 mill the second time round for 3 domestic cups and a league title with a brand of football that wouldnt look out of place in a sunday league. Smith is no Rangers legend in my eyes. his second tenure has brought the club to its knees with the Kunaus dibacle being a very pivotal point in the clubs demise. If you need to study bad management of football club its a very good place to look, its god everthing from poor tactics, bad decision making, the squandering of transfer funds....etc. Our manager is guilty as hell for our current financial predicament. If your honest you will see smith for what he is. A second rate manager who was very fortunate to have a chairman who was very loose with his cheque book. That is how smith beat everyone in the spl. He battered them with with murrays wallet. it certainly wasnt throught the skill and guile the Bill Struth spoke off. And now that the wallet is no more he has had to depend on his own managerial skills only to find that he doesnt really have very many. And hes been severely found out. Its the beginning of the end indeed for smith. No murray for the smokescreen and mirrors to cover up his shortcommings or buy him out of trouble. Just a mirror to reflect in the could have beens the should havebeens and the might havebeens. There really is no where for walter to hide this time round. and it really is time for him to go.
  13. thats the problem mate.
  14. I only caught the second half but I have to say that Thompson looked about 6 yards off the pace. He had the physical presence of a 70 year old. there is no way he was match fit. Why the hell was he in the team?
  15. i was heart broken watching that performance tonight. I could have cried. Same mistakes by smith as the last home game and the one before that too. Absolute humiliation. . We need a manager who is going to set some standards on the park. Tonight was the beginning of the end for Smith. For the club, the fans and the man himself. The club must surely realise that he is not the man to take us forward. the majority of the fans realised this after kanaus if not earlier. And as for walter, hes been waiting on this moment comming for quite a while now. He came to stabilise the club, which he did to an extent though at a huge financial cost that will haunt us for another decade, but he hasnt taken us any further. We have been stagnant for most of his second duration but we have been blind to fact due to our fortunate UEFA cup run. Getting to that final has turned out to be a milstone round our necks. We should have been a better team for getting there. We got worse. We should have been a better team for winning the league last season. Again we have got worse. Like 90 % of the passes tonight we are going backwards everytime we take a step forward. Walter has run his course. He should have walked into the sunset with the Spl title in his back pocket in the summer with his head held high. But these will be painful memories that will stay with him for a long time to come. He wont be pushed, but i think he will be starting to think of the best exit plan for all when he goes to his bed tonight.
  16. Im delighted to hear the players are as pissed off as we are. If you go into work and theres someone getting preferential treatment you wouldnt be happy. Danny wilson tonight for me.
  17. Alan rough came away with a cracker lat night at the end of the real radio phone in. He said : if bougherra plays another couple of games for Rangers then we have to pay charlton a million quid. would explain a lot if its true.
  18. no way zap. i never want to see the chunt again in a gers top.
  19. its a bit fucking late for walter to come out and hint that he may play boyd Given the amount of goals hes scored. has he just noticed this weekend how his goal tally is? I hope to hell boyd does play and scores a bucketful and we can all say i told you so wattie!
  20. i had ten homes on and fecking bradford done me out of my line! the other 9 came in!
  21. got nine points this week. three correct results, Rangers Dundee utd and st johnstone.
  22. another hack writing alot without actually telling you anything. BS!
  23. i heard a rumour that theres a very good chance that he will never again pull on a light blue jersey. hope its true.
