I hope you're qualified to take the piss out of a captain of industry.
-
I thought Murray has come across as a respectable impersonation of Comical Ali. You know the score, everyone knows he's wrong and that he's speaking shyte but he's determined just to keep on speaking because the moment he stops, he's a dead man.
-
Strong rumours of an interest in Boyd from Lazio with 8m Euros being touted. If true, that will be him gone for sure.
-
When Murray came under a wee bit of pressure last summer and protests were mooted, he made much the same defence of his track record as chairman, mostly deflection and bluster. Then he amazed us all by abandoning his new-found prudence and sactioned about £10m for Smith to use (squander) on new players. Whatever we thought of this at the time, he extinguished the rebellion and we moved on. Now the criticism is even more strident and he's back in the media, denying any part in the problem but offering himself as the only credible solution in town. We've heard it all before. But this time there won't be any big spending to buy the acquiescence of his critics, at least there had better not be. So how lies the road ahead for the Great Liar? Is the game finally up? Or will the RST make such a dog's dinner of their self-styled campaign that they end up saving the chairman from himself? Interesting days ahead but I suspect Murray isn't quite dead yet. Unfortunately.
-
No particular reason. I just wondered if you might actually have some.
-
Take responsibility? Sir David? Not a chance.
-
I could save Murray the time and effort by writing his response for him, it's certainly predictable enough. It's equally obvious that there is no "campaign", only an RST feeling it is obliged to comment, however belatedly. If the RST wants to masquerade under the banner of a campaign it might be advised to..... a. Have a clear objective and a plan to achieve it b. Consult and try to include those it cannot claim to represent - anyone outside its 1000 or so members c. Offer alternative or solutions As always, the RST goes of half cocked and will achieve nothing but to confuse and dilute. Why doesn't this group of plonkers just disappear? They represent almost no one and have achieved the square root of zip since they set up the Trust.

Having slept on it, I have to say that the statement issued yesterday is a bit like describing the effects of a fire raging in you home but insisting that there is no need to call the fire brigade. "This isn't a campaign to get the chairman out or anything like that." What a gutless crock. How will we ever change anything if we are so afraid of alienating those whose fear of change helps maintain the status quo.

I haven't agreed with too many of your posts since I joined this forum. You always seemed too ready to defend what I saw as inherently indefensible. Perhaps I misinterpreted that and, if so, I'll readily apologise for it. However, your post above is close to what I would like to have written to sum up Murray's contribution to Rangers and the dreadful legacy he will leave for other to try to remedy - or simply weep over. Articulate supporters like you could do so much to help others understand and accept the very things you mention. We desperately need CHANGE and if the last ten years of failure teach us anything it is that change will not arrive unless we all do more to prepare the way.
-
Actually, so would I. However, opinions change like the wind and an awful lot of people take their cue from the last guy they spoke to. Life is just like that I'm afraid. So what value anyone would get from a census is debatable. That's why politicians never get too concerned if a poll goes against them. They just commission another poll with the same questions framed in a more generous context. What has been sorely missing these last years has been any form of active voice against the established regime at Ibrox. Which has meant the status quo has held sway in supporter opinion, with only the occasional voice of dissent appearing on web forums and the like. Hopefully, a few more banners and protests will see a more balanced general opinion emerge on Murray and his legacy. What I do believe most strongly is that the general consensus among supporters today will change dramatically when presented with another point of view and much more balanced information. Overall, Murray has been bad for Rangers. The club would be better is he left and the sooner he sells the less lasting will be the damage. Why then does the RST issue pointless statement, complaining about the current situation but insisting there is no campaign to remove Murray? Why is it we find it so difficult to deal with a chairman who deserves so little from us?
-
Very true - and relevant to a great deal more than players in the modern era at Rangers. Strangled by self-loathing and the output of the world's most productive bigot industry.
-
A good point but we're becoming used to the mythologising of duds at Ibrox. Miller?
-
TBH, I'm really not that interested in everyone else's opinions and tend just to post what I believe.
-
I think it's just that he plies his trade at a time when we are almost devoid of any real talent in this country. It's not entirely surprising that someone occasionally gains recognition in those circumstances. Decades of Walter Smiths have seen to that.
-
While it's quite obvious why the statement says this is not a Murray out campaign, surely there's no need to be so coy amongst ourselves. Of course it is a Murray out campaign, what the hell else could it be?
-
Is that it? Spells? He's a lot more than lucky. He's Walter's pick. And he must be given special consideration because the big bad noisyboys shouted things at him and made us all feel uncomfortable.
-
I don't know what pretty well means to you but it means a bit more to me than Miller has shown. Either he's a striker or he's occupying the space intended for one. But where are the goals? Suely enough of the season has passed now for some useful judgement be raised about the Misser's goal glut, or rather, the complete lack of one. But perhaps his massive running abilities are intended for some other, more subtle, purpose. One that is less readily obvious but leads to goals elsewhere? Nope, not that either, less assists than Steve Davis from way back there in midfield. You can't even point to Miller forming part of some special partnership, since our main goalscorer Boyd has scored from as many assists elsewhere as from those provided by the guy who most often plays alongside him. So I'm struggling to see what £2.1m has brought us, even when spent so doggedly and with so much apparent intent as that on Kenny Miller. Can't score, that's obvious, woeful chance conversion rate. Passing is dreadful, excepting one pass to Boyd we all remember. Utterly incapable of controlling an inbound football. In fact, just about the same as he's delivered at every other step along the way in his very ordinary career. I wouldn't even rate Miller in the same bracket as good pros like Jim Hamilton.
-
And you base that sweeping statement on what evidence exactly? Perhaps if he ever affords us the opportunity we may test your theory, until then it looks like conjecture alone.
-
Care to offer more than "ridiculous"? Which particular five minutes impressed you then?
-
Kenny "Mr No Goals" Miller may be running around less than he did at the start of the season but maybe it's just that most of the crisp bags have been caught by now. He was a waste of space before he re-joined Rangers and he's been a talentless waste of money ever since. If ever honest endeavour was so poorly rewarded with ability or achievement, it's hard to imagine when.
-
Yup - Murray Out.
-
Continuing to play Ferguson is just so much more bollocks from Smith. Ferguson hasn't played a decent game for Rangers in two years and since he came back from his recent injury he hasn't played a decent five minutes in total. Who the hell cares if he's club captain, whatever that means. Above all else, he's a player and if he's not contributing, and he's not, then he should not be in the team. The fact he is only confirms the inability of this manager to manage.
-
Just been told that some motivated Rangers fans have made their feelings public. I hope it came across on TV. I'm out of the country tonight and unable to get a link.
-
For information and to move things beyond internet words........ ....... some angry fans will be demanding action and hoping to influence other supporters by handing out informative leaflets before the Dundee Utd game on 31st January. The cost of this has been met by still more angry fans demanding action. If anyone wants to volunteer their time to help with this, please let me know by pm.

There will be no unity and no distinct leadership amongst the wider support. Of that I am sure. This should have been the natural role of the RST but that sad organisation remains mired in the personal politicking that has prevented any semblance of unity for many years now. Rangers supporters have more organisations than they need and certainly than is good for them. And none of them are doing a damned thing about any of the problems that beset us. I also believe that the Murray lovers, of which there are still many, are a long way yet from abandoning their perverse loyalty to the Big Faker. It is bad now but I believe it will be worse yet before many care to place blame where it deserves to be. And there is simply no way that ordinary fans can start bandying about names of possible successors to Murray. Only a possible successor to Murray can do that and then only if he/she thinks that publicising any interest will contribute to concluding a successful deal. The decision to sell and to whom is in Murray's hands alone. All we as fans can ever hope to do is put pressure on Murray to believe it is not in his personal interest to remain associated with Rangers. We can decide who to reject but we cannot select a successor - or even guarantee that successor will be any better than Murray. Sad but there you have it.
