Supporters' Representation - Your Opinions Analysed
maineflyer replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Nope, I paid my life membership before it became obvious those running the Trust hadn't the backbone of a jellyfish. Now I'd rather gnaw my right hand off than have anything to do with that failed organisation. Nevertheless, it beggars belief that 41 out of any 68 supporters on the planet could be RST members, active or not. Slightly selective sampling perhaps? -
That can only have been posted as an exercise in attention seeking. Sorry but no decent bear could think like that.

Supporters' Representation - Your Opinions Analysed
maineflyer replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I wouldn't have thought that a survey of only 68 fans was adequate to draw any conclusions from. However two results do intrigue me. The first is that 60% of any sample could possibly claim membership of the dreadful RST, let alone "active" membership. Especially when I'm informed that total current RST membership is less than 2.5% of an Ibrox crowd. The second is that 80% do not feel they are adequately represented by the three organisations mentioned. Perhaps the 60% active RST members aren't quite active enough. I wonder who the 68 chums could have been? -
Talk about a multi-racial society. Clearly people from Dundee or Inverness are of separate races. They have unique cultural heitage, they use different dialects and accents, and have a clear sense of their own collective identity. In fact, every region of the country will have to mind their P's and Q's in this lunatic world. No more references to sheepshaggers or teuchters or weegies. Clearly there are now no more walls, only bricks of a particular collective disposition.

An entirely politically motivated and contrived conviction. Dubious in law and pointless in effect. You could see this coming weeks ago but exactly who's interests have been served by this nonsense? Embarrassingly, the Rangers chairman will no doubt feel his very vocal interventions have been adequately acknowledged.

Walter Smith is prepared to shed up to 10 players

Nothing indignant about your put downs old boy. More like a four by two administered to the bridge of the nose on a cold day. And welcome back.- 35 replies

Sorry but I think even you will find it difficult to persuade anyone that the SFA/SPL or even Graeme Spiers are responsible for deciding which players Rangers sign or what team the manager picks. Biased though they may be, not one referee I can think of has insisted we play a minimum of four players out of position or refuse us the right to use three substitutes. Perhaps you believe it was us shoehorned pessimists who are responsible for the lunacy of turning Lee McCulloch from a useless midlfielder into a useless defender?

Quite wrong. We may not get them for what they're worth because others will place a value upon them that we cannot afford. Bolton are supposed to be valuing Berra at £3m, which we will not be able to match.- 35 replies

Which "a lot more factors" are those then? I would have thought that with authority came responsibility - or is that also different at today's Ibrox. Perhaps it's all the fans' fault?

Couldn't agree more. We could and should have gone for Berra and Driver last summer. Both would improve the current squad but I suspect the money has been pissed away on dross yet again. Berra in particular should be pursued with whatever we can muster - last Saturday made that blatantly obvious.- 35 replies

You're in danger of commiting the cardinal sin of not only settling for second best but actually defending it. You're also confusing abuse with criticism.

Sarcasm or not, you're right about bright side chat. It's about as much use as tits on a sparrow. I'm always open to persuasion but I'm seeing less and less reason to hope that the club can be successful under Murray. It's not for the lack of wanting it but unless there is something more substantial than bright side chat to turn things around, I'll remain as optimistic as the next pessimist. (or is that realistic as the next realist)- 35 replies

What are we going to use as money for these new signings? Buttons off Murrays waistcoat? Because as far as I can see, there isn't any actual money in sight. Why else is McCulloch is being transformed into a centreback?

It's not in the fan's eyes though - it's on the park and in the trophy room. Like everyone else at Rangers, they're not here as ornaments to appease some fans, they're here to get results. No results, no trophies, no job. Only way to look at it.

Somethimes it just feels like all hope is lost. Smith clearly doesn't know his best team or how he should use the players he does pick - so on what basis will the same man now decide who is to leave the club and who is to stay. And once he's thrown his dice on departures, he will then turn his magic to "strengthening" the squad. Cause for concern?- 35 replies

OK OK - I agree with you too. In fact I insist on agreeing with you even more than you agree with me, to such an extent that you couldn't squeeze daylight between us. I doubt if two people could actually be more aligned in their opinions on Mr McCoist.

I'd have thought my use of the words "I think" would have made it obvious that this was only my opinion rather than some empirical information, tested over time and declared as factual by consistent peer review and the common consent of authoratative bodies. But OK pedantic-bollocks, let me re-phrase it to suit the tender sensibilities of this forum ..... I think the truth is that Ally McCoist will never be a competent or successful manager. Hopefully you'll all be able to uncork your puckered arses now that's cleared up.

Understood Craig. I was only referring to the final itself. To get to a final and make next to no attempt to win it, only Smith could come up with those tactics and then try to justify them afterwards. Muppet!

The biggest single disappointment in fifty years following Rangers was Smith's approach to the UEFA cup final.
