Rangers as it stands minus CL involvement
maineflyer replied to OnlyOneAmoruso's topic in Rangers Chat
We simply have to find a way however. The alternative is there for all to see and continually plcing the club at risk is acceptable to none of us. Personally, I think there is a great deal more to be done on the income side, which may not make up all of the gap but could go some considerable way to doing so. -
I'm afraid the importance of subtle language is rather lost on me when it comes to a dysfunctional (but intrinsically important) part of the Rangers community. It may seem inherently necessary to some but I'd be far more impressed with an effective RST that didn't continually re-invent itself to suit its less-than-acceptable past performance. The fact is the RST seems to stumble from one glut of inactivity to the next and I find myself intrigued as to the motives of those running it. This is a critical time for this club and is there was ever a time for open and active debate, led by supporter groups, then surely this is it. Of course, for those to whom these things are also important, since I'm not a member, I have absolutely no basis on which to question the RST or comment upon it.

I think you'll find the same old is the same old absent RST. Missing in inaction. Despite your predictable protestations the fact remains that the RST has been decidedly awol during the recent spate of attacks on the club and fans - there's no hiding the silence and the lack of the sort of all-media presence that accompanied the rush to occupy the centre ground when they thought Duffy was offering a seat at the table. If the RST cannot speak up against our detractors then, seriously, what's the point? You need to get off your arses and focus on what I realise might seem rather mundane issues to you. The people over on VB are making complaints to the Press Complaints Commission while the RST is still figuring out what's going on. It's pathetic.

Rabid journalists in the NOTW and elsewhere, ridiculous accusations of overt cheatery from the piggery, open season on Lafferty and our goalkeeper, further accusations of sectarian singing by Rangers fans ...... and on it goes. And where is the organisation that was formed to speak up for the interests of Rangers fans? Why the continuing silence? Obviously there can't currently be any useful opportunities for self-advancement. Maybe they're still talking to Mr Duffy? Forty-eight hours to save Rangers? Surely we deserve better.

I think any half-decent businessman buying Rangers would show up Murray for the disinterested dork he is.
-
Ah, now I was referring to the general situation about rumours and didn't for a moment intend the comment to be directed at you personally. If it seemed that way then I apologise unreservedly.
-
I certainly hope so. Without a clear understanding of the motive, how can anyone judge a prospective acquirer.
-
If he thinks he's going to make money out of Rangers then I'd be very concerned indeed. It would mean he sees his opportunity in non-footballing matters and the football club we see would almost certainly suffer as a result. And since he has no relationship with Rangers that I can see, I'd be sceptical in the extreme if he said he's going to invest large sums of money out of love for the club - which, by the way, is the only plausible motive for anyone to invest in Rangers in the current economic climate. Of course he could be doing a David Murray and looking to elevate his personal profile by association with Rangers but these are very different times and what neutral would want to be associated with the pariah club, steeped as we are in bitter sectarianism and racism. Personally, if the buyer of Murray's shares isn't tied emotionally to Rangers in some way then I think it's going to be a hell of a risk, no matter who he/she is.
-
The only thing I'm sure of is we'll never know the answer unless we ask that question .... both amongst ourselves and directly to the acquirers.
-
Nothing to apologise for. What you said was absolutely correct.
-
That's not a reason ... more of an excuse. Edit - didn't express that well at all. I meant that those are good reasons not to buy an EPL club but it says nothing about why he would want to buy Rangers. No one invests this kind of money without a very good reason. I'm just interested in what that is .... and keeping the question to the fore until an answer emerges ..... if it ever does.
-
The question is ...... why Rangers?
-
You weren't wrong about him at all. He was shite and we called him shite. There were times when he couldn't pass the ball ten feet ffs. There's no empirical right or wrong here, you can only ever call it like you see it and most Rangers fans do just that. Like manager or owners, players are not inherently good or bad, there's no permanency to any of it, they're just what they are at the time opinion is voiced. When Whittaker turned his game around very few fans were slow to acknowledge it. That doesn't mean we're two-faced. It just means we're offering honest and justified opinion at a point in time.

You see where it's all heading though, everyone will jump on whatever passing band wagon comes into view and right now the celtic smear machine is making sure even numpties like Gus McPherson are able to see the Rangers-are-cheats wagon ... once again the club should be addressing this big time. I just hope the next owner has something between his legs. Unlike the current arsewipe who has been delighted to preen himself these last 20 years but couldn't lift a finger to defend the club.

That day in 1999 was the biggest cover up since Pompeii. You could almost sense the panic across the media that the truth had finally slipped out for all to see. By the time they had finished with it, we were as guilty as they were.

It's got completely out of control, the famine refugees seem to have lost any notion of self-respect or rational judgement when it comes to Rangers. You can damn near see their hatred and bitterness gnawing away at them like a starving rhat. Unfortunately, I can yet see this mania leading them to do something really stupid and even lives being lost.

Does all this paranoia come from the same source?
maineflyer replied to maineflyer's topic in Rangers Chat
With respect, the OP was drawing attention to their paranoia, not their church. Surely that is entirely relevant and topical. -

Never in the field of human victimhood have so many been so willingly offended for such little reason. Personally, I'd round the bastards up and give them something expressly physical to be offended by.

A Tale of Integrity, Fair-mindednesss and Hypocrisy
maineflyer replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Absolutely right - but it's a vast difference the MOPES are unfortunately unable to see at all. The mentality of your average sore-arsed, guilt-ridden, spawn of the mass sees these two concepts as entirely bound and inseparable. They're not normal people. -

For info - I know the folks over at Vanguardbears who organised all of this are planning a special graveside service to commemorate (if that's the right word) the new headstone. Of course, it's an open invitation to everyone who wants to attend and I believe the date will be announced in the near future.
