Perhaps the banner wavers shouldn't be so quick to forget about Mr Murray. -
Rangers Announce Interim Results

That's got to be the Holy Grail for Rangers, breakeven without CL income. Which means there is probably some downsizing still to go unless we can improve things on the 'other income' side, particularly merchandising which has fallen well short of what could be achieved (IMO). Or else start producing and selling young talent. I think this is one of those times when, however reluctantly for some, you have to give Jack his jacket for a job well done. One Donald Muir, there's only one Donald Muir...... just joking! -
Cheers BD - I see it now.

Thanks. I thought it would be limited but can't seem to get the link to work.

Is there any sign of comparative income other than CL - ticket sales, merchandising, etc?

How many times have I heard that those coming back from a meeting with club officials "are not able to disclose details" or "have been asked to maintain discussions as confidential"? These and similar phrases have come to symbolise the RST in particular but have also been used by other groups. FFS, what is the point of attending these meetings unless its on the clear understanding that what is said will be openly and honestly revealed to the wider support? If the club isn't happy with this arrangement then the meeting is already utterly pointless by any measure. Or, more specifically, on whose behalf are these meeting being attended? Make no mistake, when you hear that meetings "have taken place", it's already too late to expect anything useful from them. If, just for once, instead of game-playing, some of our too-easily-offended and usually un-elected representatives would actually stand up for what the supporters want then we would all be several miles further forward than we are today.

How right you are ..... but it's always been this way with a certain group of people. As soon as they get a seat at a table, the cloak goes over the shoulders and the dagger gets strapped to the leg. You know the score, if they share the information then they're no more important than everyone else .... which is why these same self-obsessed people have served us so badly over the years. As I posted elsewhere recently ... in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

I think the fact is that the average bear is just starting to become aware of how deep are the divisions that have existed for a long time amongst some of our 'activists'. Some of these splits go back a very long way and I'm afraid simple pleas to mend fences are going to land on deaf ears. You might not like it but the divisions between some are so wide and irrevocable that one side or the other will need to step aside before any semblance of unity can be achieved - there will be no working together. For what it's worth, and that may not be much, the impasse seems to begin and end at the owner of FF .... and that is nowhere more evident than in the ineffectual mess call the Rangers Supporters Trust. I'm too far away and too independent to be part of it personally but I see what I see and I've been watching for a long time. Just my opinions of course.

Ooh er, they won't like this down Torbett Towers way...
maineflyer replied to Norris Cole's topic in Rangers Chat
Brilliant. How much better does that make you feel than all the SCIAF contributions of Ally McCoist. Tell it like it is Nacho and NEVER apologise. -
You've occasionally taken a pasting on here for your views on this matter but I'll admit to a great deal of sympathy for your position on the purpose and direction of any protest. I'm not exactly following this story inch by inch but I have clear impression that the 'protest' is very badly directed and I doubt very much if any of us will be any better informed a month from now because a few ill-conceived banners are raised at Ibrox. As for all forum admin getting round one table, I can categorically tell you this will never happen and, despite some recent posturing to the contrary, it will be because FF will never sit down with certain others.

Well don't keep it to yourself old boy. Just remember though, I may be out of the country for a while but .......... I'll be back.

I'm still at a complete loss as to why we're protesting against Donald Muir or Lloyds bank - or what it is we're expecting from these people. It's one thing to say we need information, it's another to ask the right questions of the right people. I feel hugely disappointed that, after advocating protest for so long, when it does eventually happen it's apparently so ill-directed and impotent. I'm not going to get sucked into this chorus of 'well-done' to those who have done something rather than nothing........ I'll save it for when we see something more appropriately directed. At the moment it seems to be a case of either inventing targets or waving banners to relieve personal frustrations.

Statement From Rangers Supporters in Respect of the Protest
maineflyer replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Only one man is responsible for the mess Rangers is in .... and it's not Donald Muir, it's not anyone at Lloyds Bank, and it's not Alistair Johnston. David Murray must be laughing his cock off watching our bold protesters chasing wild geese and shadows. Plus ca change..... and a' that. -
I'd prefer to read .... "Gers didn't crack."

Let's just say that there were/are a great many inactive members with very predictable passwords.

We're all free to make choices in these matters. I regularly post on three forums, occasionally on another..... but haven't been on FF since my fifth and final life ban over two years ago. That was my choice.

Even more sad is the current effort by FF (there, I've named them) admin to claim the erection of the headstone was the work of people who actually took no part whatsoever. I knew our support was divided but it's depressing to see a certain organisation being actively dishonest in an effort to widen divisions even further. What's the point of it ffs, when every other forum is celebrating this good deed? If we can't honour one of our founders without letting petty jealousies show then it's time to put out the lights and lock the doors.
-
Just being polite. I suppose I know well enough what goes here and what doesn't. Wish it was the same elsewhere .... but others aren't always so civilised.
-
More to the point, after all the fuss of recent weeks, I take it the protest was an awesome sight today and Donald Muir will be resigning in the morning.

What's this about then? Voted miserable bastard of the month?
-
Ha ha ......at least none that have posted so far. I'll be taking a serious look at myself from now on though. The headstone is in Lincoln. A few bears have been looking after the site for a while but the new headstone is fantastic and is due to more than just VB members who donated. Many on here also contributed. Things like this touch all of us and make all the difference.

I'm copying this picture that was published on Vanguardbears. I don'y know about you but this makes me very proud. When thi was posted on FF, the post was removed and the poster banned for mentioning VB - I hope that isn't the case here. VB organised this headstone with money donated from all sources but they obviously deserve enormous credit for their efforts. Click on the image to enlarge.
