Breaking News - Murray Steps Down as Chairman
Norris Cole replied to Yieldshields loyal's topic in Rangers Chat
You can't seriously be counting cup wins as progress? Do cup wins negate 7 in a row, Kaunas, TBB, continued record debt, shambolic merchandising, abject failure to protect the fanbase against sustained media lies, the failure of Murray Park to produce anything resembling a conveyer belt of talent so we wouldn't have to fork out on the Mladenovics and the Capuchos and the Nerlingers? If it really is just cup wins which are keeping Murray in a position of popularity with fans then it might have been in the best long-term interests of the club for us not to have won them. -
"FFS Eddie gives those every week"

Just like half of Europe has been "ready" to put in a bid for Aiden McGeady for the past 6 years apparently

Noun custodian (plural custodians) 1. A person entrusted with the custody or care of something or someone; a caretaker or keeper. Nobody "reign"s Rangers FFS. And the last 10 years have been far from glorious with this charlatan. -

A big glamour tie from Pot 1 and 4 points from Pot 4 will do me. We often seem to punch above our weight against German teams so I wouldn't mind one of them. And a 50% chance of getting an English outfit as well.

Kaunas destroyed us mentally for about 6 months IMO. So many weak performances until our big run in the Spring. It's been fantastic to just sit back this time and watch other teams get themselves papped out, waiting for the group stage draw.

The Beautiful Game - Leaving the working man behind

That was one of Bluedell's points, but something I'm trying to get across is that reduced ticket prices doesn't necessarily have to mean decreased profits if playing to a full house most weeks. Hopefully. The best thing that could happpen to the English Premiership in particular would be for all the clubs to die on their arse and the league get ripped up and start again. It's become a freakshow down there. -
The BBC highlights clearly show the Rangers players getting a shower of missiles thrown at them while celebrating Boyd's goal.

As much as he took the piss out of the bheasts last season, it's hard to forget Florence.

You're just gutted cos you're having to fork out for the £200 tickets. -

But part of my point is that football never used to be a luxury, until say 5-10 years ago. Hence how it was a 'working man's game'. And £70? What pubs are you drinking in? -

Disagree. I see what you're saying about all the other expenses in life, but that's as much an argument that there's less room for football in the modern working man's budget. If you have to go without certain things in order to go to the football, then effectively you can't afford to fit the football into your budget. If your argument is that top-level football isn't too expensive, then I couldn't disagree more. I have more and better alternatives to football to fill my time. It's those whose unbounded devotion means they'll sacrifice almost everything just to get to the games that I feel sorry for. Especially the older fans who know what it was like to get in for 50p. That's their choice of course, and they'll get nothing but my respect for it. But they're being taken advantage of big style. -

No better example than the TV licence. Paying the BBC to not watch the BBC. -

Granted they were pretty extreme experiments, but some of Motherwell's deals in recent years, kids for a quid, dads for a fiver or whatever, ensured some terrific attendances. Folk bang on about getting kids through the gates, well reduce their old man's ticket to a reasonable price and you might see them. I'm no mathmetician but there must be a sustainable lower price which ensures both increased attendance and sufficient profit. £15 anyone? Your points are of course valid and there certainly has to be some sort of balance. But the fact is more and more people are turning away from what is an over-priced, low-quality product. The question is where does it end? -
We suffer enough from "contentious" decisions to enjoy one that goes in our favour.
