Was thinking that with the stadium, if we had maintained that then it would have cleared a game. However like Stewarty, got to remain the optimist...perhaps this is a bit of karma for 2008 and we go on to win the treble by playing these 4 games in 8 days. That said surely its a no brainer to call out and get the League Cup completed by October like it used to be from now on.

Never really rated Lennon either, maybe his gob was too busy in the way of anyone even noticing anything else. But he was playing next to a top notch player in Paul Lambert and thats probably the reason anyone thought he was good.

I said last season Bougherra would be a better midfielder as he is strong and has great runs from the back. If we had Weir and Webster at the time playing well then Bougherra would have been a good option in midfield. But no way can we let him out the defence at the moment. And yes Bougherra is also our best RB.

Its a bit of handbags, wasnt as much as the game with Woods, Butcher and McAvennie. Get Graham Roberts orchastrating the bears for Billy Boys again in the next OF. LIke Craig I thought Diouf handled himself well as i thought he would react. Cant wait to see him in the away game a week on Sunday.

Obviously WS and AM are not seeing enough of him in training to believe he is capable of starting, but that doesnt help they have their favourites who start regardless of form. I would like to see a bit more of Fleck in a position he is most comfortable. Its whether the management feel putting Fleck, Kerkar, Weiss, Ness, Hutton and Bartley in between now and the end of the season is too much of a gamble, but IMO id be hoping to see all of these player involved between now and May.

Diouf deserves credit for not biting to Broon. I was expecting a huge right hand at the time.

Stevey boy couldnt repeat his Dutch success in Germany. He should get a job back in England no problem though. I wouldnt have said no to him coming in to replace WS. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/9390250.stm

Tournament starts tonight with Rep Ireland v Wales then Scotland v N Ireland tomorrow. I hope its a success, its certainly more attractive than playing the Faroes in a friendly. The only down side for me is it starts this week then completes in May, it would be better just to have the full thing in May. Scotland Squad for NI game:

As someone mentioned the other day the last few weeks have had 1998 feeling all over again. And to an extent a lot of similarities like: 1) WS annoucing he is stepping down at the end of the season - This is something Im not a fan of at all regardless if his replacement is No.2 and I cant believe WS did this again. It was ONE reason we failed 10IAR. 2) Resistance to drop players when they look jaded when a match on the bench would do them good (Weir, Davis, McCulloch). 3) Letting a top player leave during the season - Millers goals were blasting us towards the title at one point. (although the bank may have called this one). I remember Gazza left to join Middlesboro around March 98 yet Andy Goram has always been quoted as saying he believes that is another reason that cost us 10IAR as a half fit Gazza would have still won us points.

Fancied Liverpool all week until I saw the 5-3-2 line up but they still pulled it off. I dont like Liverpool but thats a cracking win and magic to see Chelsea lose again. Amazingly Liverpool are in sight of the Champions league spots, only 2 wins behind Chelsea now. And Arsenals sole point against Newcastle still looks decent now after all the games from the weekend. Good weekend for Spurs and Man City also. Sets the Manc derby up nicely next weekend.

This probably doesnt warrent a reply but considering you called me nuts on another thread today I think this about sums you up.

Congrats Cammy.....I expect them to be signed up at Murray park in a few years

Was watching it live and as soon as Diaby got sent off I fancied newcastle to get back in it. Arsenal just collapsed and looked like they would concede. Barton was dirty all afternoon and it was a challenge before half time that diaby was probably reacting to. The 2nd pen was never a pen and the first was soft. The equaliser was a peach. Couldnt believe my eyes, Arsenal should have been ahout 7-0 up by half time. No team should lose a 4 goal lead with 25 mins to play. But with Man U losing it is a good point bizarrely as Arsenal have Wolves at home next week while Man U have Man city. But the worrying thing is Chelsea could find themselves back in it if they beat liverpool today as they still have to play Man U twice. But I fancy a draw there today or even a Liverpool win. Goals galore in the Premier league though, 5-3 to everton, 4-3 to Wigan, 3-2 to Stoke......

German league play games on friday afternoons??? Id love to go to Dortmunds stadium....probably my fave ground in Europe. Remember your camera old man!

When he retires and is telling his grandkids about his football career, I dont know if this guy has the right to say he played for Rangers. 3 games in 4 years is laughable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Webster

Never heard of Andrew Smith before but what an absolute tit. Like Craig I stop reading very early.
-
Id agree with that....Hemdani was a cracking player. But the concern with mcculloch is he isnt even a real midfielder yet we're relying on him to play a bit role.
-
I still say if 3-5-2 and any formation for that matter (except Leveins 4-6-0) can work if you have the right players. Some 4-4-2s back four is full of 4 centre halfs, all your then doing is taking 1 away and putting in an extra bit of creativity in the midfield. You have to rely on your wide men to get back a but though and weiss and naismith wouldnt be the best at that.

Cant beat a 'pick XI' players thread especially with a beer in hand to cure a hangover (its Chinese New Year so might as well celebrate). The team would depend on whether its XI on current form or taking the probable best "on their day" XI. WS seems to prefer the latter and relies on the likes of Davis and McCulloch to perform every week and rather than drop them which can do them good he will still play them. Im hoping Bartley could be a success but until Ive seen him I cant include him. With everyone fit Id go: :kb::mb::sp: :vw::sd::me::sn: :ehd::nj: or tempted to go back to my old favourite 3-5-2: :mb::sp: :vw::sd::me::jn::sn: :ehd::nj:

January 2011 Transfer Window - Healy, Diouf and Bartley IN
Gribz replied to stewarty's topic in Rangers Chat
Yip not to bad if all 3 perform well especially if we get the best out of Diouf although thats a bit shaky. Glad 2 sicknotes are away. Webster has been nothing short of a disgrace and beattie is pretty much finished, he is one of those players who peaked early and after turning 30 struggled to run. -
If there is 1 club where you want to take a young player on loan from then its Arsenal.
-
35 million upfront plus add ons is a lot but I like the look of Carroll. he reminds me of a cross between Duncan Ferguson and Dado Prso. He has strength of Ferguson and work rate of Prso. Considering liverpool only spent 7 million on Suarez and Carroll after the Torres cash its not a bad way to look at it, those 2 can get as much goals together as Torres would.

January 2011 Transfer Window - Healy, Diouf and Bartley IN
Gribz replied to stewarty's topic in Rangers Chat
Cant see this one due to wages again. But would be a good signing, he is a solid defender. -
Disagree. while its not the most attractive signing Id rather have Healy than Riordan. Noticed Alan Gow was playing for Notts County against Man City yesterday. A lot of people, myself included, thought he deserved a chance when at Ibrox but he obviously hasnt impressed nobody at a higher level than Englands 3rd tier either.

Back to league business on Wed and originally I fancied the games in hand in preference to points on the board but the last few games has knocked a wee bit of confidence in me although all that can still change with 1 result. Our 2 games in hand still puts us a point clear but we need to move up a gear or two. The team is in need of freshened up. Id play Weiss, Ness, hutton and Naismith in the middle against Hearts with Healy and Jelavic upfront. Hopefully Aberdeen get their finger out on Wed and get something off Celtic, but we have to beat Hearts.
