  1. History teaches us hopefully that all beasts should be kept under control. The periods when they haven't are very apparent - as are the consequences.
  2. McCarthy isn't worth anywhere near that, agreed. But we've heard it all before. Scott Broon must be worth £30m by now. I can see all the EPL giants lining up as we speak. Hooper had a better game than Broonaldo today, and Hooper didn't look like a £2.4m player. Our positive is Jelavic. If he has a cracking SPL season and really shines in Europe, his worth will soar. I really believe that he's going to go sometime, but for REALLY big money. I also believe that, in Chris Whyte, we have someone who knows how to drive a hard bargain. I'd like Jelavic to stay forever, but reality says we'll have him for one season more, two tops.
  3. Nice to be right! I think after they have celebrated, and realise that a hard qualification lies ahead for them in the EL, and that we have a good chance of making the group stages in the CL, they will see the SC as a wee bit of an empty glass. At the end of the day, we're the team who won a double and won the league. That makes US the champions. They are merely second best - they can window dress it as much as they want - but they are second best. Only unfortunate thing is that Lennon will hold his job down a while longer, so another season of fractious bickering lies ahead.
  4. We can only live in hope. Looking at the Hibs site is quite scary. If that was a Rangers forum, we'd be called anti-catholic bigots. Nice to know that the general footballing populace out there find "the thunder" quite distasteful. Ian, you may well be right. They might just come to wish they hadn't played all these cards.
  5. Totally agree with you Pete. The actual figure for our bannings was 548. Interesting also that CFC declined to put forward a spokesman regarding these figures. I still can't get my head around the idea that us singing about fenians is anti-religious sectarianism, while when they sing about IRA fenianism, it is politely referred to as political. That's bullshit - a spade must be a spade. Also totally agree with the fact that Aberdeen have escaped notice. However, this programme was about bigotry, which quite rightly should be eradicated. It wasn't about fans being offended by other fans mocking deaths of their relatives nor mocking fans about bestiality. So let's call a spade a spade and get rid of all manner of offence. We can then get down to the football. Which we are blatantly much better at than anyone else in Scotland - and always have been.
  6. Not for me either. Wage wise, we could probably get one or two outrageous talents for the same price if we look in Eastern Europe or somewhere outwith the big leagues. We need lightning pace and players who can play fast one-touch flowing football.
  7. Just looking at Kassies website today. We have a fair chance of making rye group stages of the CL. If I read it right, if we go out in Q3, we drop into Q4 of the EL. If we drop out of Q4 in the CL, we go directly in to the EL group stages, so yes, barring a third round catastrophe, we're guaranteed 10 games next season. Anyway, we'll be in the CL with the big boys!!!
  8. How many years does he have on his contract? Two? Maybe after a half wasted year, he won't be attracting anything like top dollar?
  9. Lafferty and Jelavic up front with Naisy just behind is the most promising attacking threat I've seen at the Rangers for donkeys. I just get the impression that they're just starting to get into their stride. Pity help some teams next year if I'm right.
  10. Question is, is he good enough to play in those leagues - I mean, will he be a first team pick?
  11. I'm with you on that one. Not sure if the powers that be (and the media) would want Wattie back in the Scotland job - you know, walked out on us before bla-de-bla ....... The point I was making about the England job is that I believe Wattie's good enough to do it really well. Not so sure in retrospect that he wants the high profile. Maybe johnnyk's right. He's hung up his boots and he'll ride off into the sunset. Whatever, Wattie, thanks for everything and a bundle of great memories.
  12. Happy about this. He's been Mr Dependable since he's arrived. Good honest player.
  13. i heard him on radio this morning. He mentioned something like "if the right offer came along. " I think he'll be offered the England job after Capello. And at £5m a year, I think he'll take it and do well
  14. Great minds think alike! I've got the first half of the United game on while I have breakfast. Will switch to the NIAR DVD after that Looking at the way we were playing on Tuesday, we are going to walk this by four or five goals. No nerves now. If Wattie wants me, I'm ready for the call up. He should really stick with Jelavic though.
  15. At least they're divided. If we win the League it's tainted. If they win it, it will be a special, special moment. Had to laugh at "Celtic are about love" quote.
  16. Might be to give time for the season to end and the Board to be restructured?
  17. Even if Jelavic scores the first one? Just kidding. I'll post some sensible updates
  18. I would like to think that we will be squeaky clean on Sunday, and i would beg anyone going to bear that in mind. The whole nation will be watching. We're going to win - make no mistake - but when we do, every tiny detail will be scrutinised to deflect and take the glory away. We must keep it perfect - just like the Hearts game. Bouncing but clean.
  19. Just came across Salmond's interview on SKY - http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0,26691,16480_6928646,00.html Quite interesting. About Tynecastle - "There were a NUMBER of incidents last night" "they will not be tolerated" "action will follow". All the other incidents were Celtic related as far as I could see. I wonder if the IRAoke will be addressed? I wonder if Lennon kicking the guy when he was on the deck will be addressed? Perhaps, just perhaps, they might. What is clear is that he is determined to come down hard on what is "wrong with our beautiful game." If he takes an even playing field approach, then it's fine by me. He mentions sectarian singing and internet bile. I would hope he would go further and take into account the gross irresponsibility of the media and in particular radio chat shows who make a buck out of stirring up the bile. I think we will live in interesting times. And I also think that Celtic will reap what they have sown. Big time. Goodbye Green Brigade?
  20. Good news. It's like waking up and finding out you've got your balls back. Ehrm - not that I've ever lost them, but you know what I mean ............ Nice one!
  21. Yeah - Daily Mash can be a hoot. Good thing about them is they inevitably know who it's right to take the pish out of.
  22. That's a shame Gazza. I'll post some updates on here .... a few Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasses and Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucckkya beautys etc.
  23. What a great initiative and great photos to boot. I've left a message for him on his Facebook page. It strikes me that - despite all the hoohah from the press when he came, this guy has been well misunderstood. Bet this doesn't get ant press coverage.
