  1. only problem is both teams played with the same ball! Surely that's why the keepers check the ball before a game? and the ref let them play with it? surely they have other match balls?!
  2. is that anything to do with what the hell went wrong with the third goal? btw, did anyone else hear shagger "what the f**ks that?!"
  3. Paul Le Guen inherited a club in a fantastic position with a brilliant squad from Santini before he left for the France job if I'm not mistaken. I agree we need a top manager in next, but I also don't think it's been that long since we've had one. No manager is flawless and everyone has complained at the so-called best for one reason or another. Even if we got the love child of jose morinho and alex ferguson (some) Gers fans would still find a way to complain and put him down. In absence of a top manager, someone that can take the club forward and upward is the best we can hope for in footballs current climate.
  4. Holloway was unemployed for over a year, during which he learned how to make his own chicken hutches. Check it out on youtube. Does that make him unspeakably shit? or good enough for Rangers? There is no point in debating if you have the attitude "I'm right, you're wrong and there's nothing you can do about it." I like Holloway, but think he is totally unsuitable to be Rangers Manager. Just as PLG was unsuitable. Do you not understand that for a manager to be a success the club has to suit the manager and the manager has to suit the club? Just as in the case of players?
  5. Strachan did reasonably well with a small Premiership team. Ian Holloway has only done well at one or two lower league clubs and only his last two seasons (as far as I know) at blackpool has he been exceptional. If you look at Strachan, he DID do well at celtic. He had a better record than MO'N who many pundits consider a top manager. So I disagree that Strachan has not demonstrated managerial ability. The Celtic job changed Strachan and he lost a lot of his light-hearted-ness. Yes it was probably more to do with the fact he wasn't "Sellik minded" that he was never accepted, but I heard plenty of tims complain about he he never took the job seriously. Which was only a perception because of his past. Ian Holloway would soon get hounded out of Rangers, if not by the fans, certainly by the media. I hope Holloway continues his success as he has been a revelation, and I love watching his youtube clips, but it could easily go pear shaped!
  6. Holloway is someone I love as a manager. But look at what happened to Strachan. He was the closest thing to him that English football has seen (from my limited experience) in term of comedy. Would The Rangers fan stand for jokes and what not if things were not going well? Enjoy the attacking football if it was absent positive results? Blackpool suits Holloway and Holloway suits Blackpool. It's a perfect match! Put him in a more "serious" job with a bigger club and bigger expectations and it will damage both!
  7. it's a joke! getting lawyers involved for in house discipline! is he appealing the first three? or the additional three? surely he doesnt believe he shouldnt have a ban at all?? meanwhile, he has been allowed to continue during the traditionally hard festive period. I'm not sure how big a deal a touchline ban is these days with your mobile phones and rest of the management team on the bench, but surely it would have been disrupted? It's a joke! have any other managers handed out /tlbs ever avoided punishment like this before?!! The man has no class and is bitter and twisted to the core. so smug right now - despite celtics debt significantly increasing. hope he gets what hes due!
  8. I tear my hair out at how static we are... There are definitely smaller teams that play better football than us, and if they actually had some technically good players, I'm pretty sure we would be struggling more than we are already. A lot of it is psychological in Scotland. I hope we improve today against Well...
  9. http://m.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/11/xavi-barcelona-spain-interview?cat=football&type=article After a shocking attempt where we seemed afraid to press, regain and retain the ball on Sunday, here is an interesting read from one of the worlds best players...
  10. I'm also mortified by the comparison of the number of passes. Plus their accuracy stats! So many things to write about, and rant about, especially on a touch screen keyboard...
  11. It was my understanding that we paid Velicka, and Aberdeen paid Foster. They were just playing for another club each. Don't know where that stands now...
  12. Not sure if you can include all of velickas wages, are were they not set against fosters wages?
  13. Another NI Internationalist? Don't know much else other than what wikipedia has on him...
  14. I am by no means a Kyle Lafferty fan. Far from it. But to say his selection will be our downfall in the title run in, after the performances in last years run in are grossly unfair. The last 4 or 5 games, he played through the middle, and scored far more goals than Boyd and Miller too I'm sure. Yes I would prefer someone else, but he has helped us get over the line before. I think you'd be right to ask whether he can get us to the line though... especially if playing on the left.
  15. at £14k a week, decent signing. At £20k a week, bad signing. For all sorts of reasons. Anyone remember Chris Eagles? Are we missing him? What's he done since?
  16. I'm sure there are some of our fan base that might struggle with comparing a 50% interest figure with the "normal" interest rates quoted eg 0 to 5%... Apparently the IR do this often(?!) and it's an easy way to scare you into paying money? seems very corrupt to me!
  17. you mean celtic? How big must their wage bill be with their 30 odd first team squad? plus the transfers and pay offs for certain management teams add to that very little european football and vastly reduced attendances... surely they must be doing some very creative accounting??
  18. From what I can work out (sadly based on the numbers quoted on the original post) it's not actually 50%, it's just compound interest but as it's been so long, you get charged interest on the interest as that has beed added to the "debt" e.g. say the debt was 100 after 5% interest the debt would be 120 (100 debt + 20 interest). then you add 5% of that the next year so that would be 120 + 24 = 144, and so the following year it's even more! the formula is debt *{ (1 + interest [as percentage e.g. 2.5 % is 0.025])^(number of years)} The problem for me is how you can charge interest for that many years (15 or 20?!) so even at a low interest rate it is huge. Unfair in the sense that you weren't given the opportunity to pay off the interest or even reduce the debt and have been penalised for their delayed interest.
  19. Can anyone make sense of this, and perhaps put it in context? http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/practitioners/macdonald-v-dextra.htm
  20. or willie vass photos to show they are at least talking to Rangers...
  21. I'm no financial expert. It seems rather unfair that HMRC have not had issue with something that must have been filed decades ago initially, yet can charge interest on that. Surely if you must be aware of owing a debt to be charged interest on not paying it... if you'd known about it, you would do something about it right? And a £15m penalty? What about the Arsenals, and every other football team and company that has used these payment schemes? are they going to be fined more? Surely the Tax issue is being delayed as they are coming to an "agreement" with HMRC? From what I've heard, if they claim you owe them money, which you don't (or not as much as they claim) you fight it, but they always win in the sense you have to pay something. Not as much as they ask, but enough for them to look right. Isn't that what happened/is happening with Dave King in SA? Surely the cost of calling in that debt will result in a greater reduction (long term) of income for HMRC than what they are asking for? and some money is better than no money? Maybe someone that has more expertise or experience could comment? I don't understand how anyone could print blatant lies if that is what he is doing. At the very least he is writing half truths with such conviction it is tantamount to lying. I don't know who this guy is, but I also fear the no smoke without fire concern. I was expecting to see a changeover before the close of the window at least after the talk of christmas takeovers... I know it's hearsay, but this seems to be what is stalling the process...
  22. could this possibly mean that he gets put on the bench for the next two games? Not my favourite midfielder, but with KT gone, not afraid to get stuck in to the tims...
  23. Of course, it's only big bad Rangers that have anything to do with this. Only "disgusting" when it's the Gers involved, or that's all I see in the media... be interesting if they can quote a footy forum for evidence of people being against it, whether they can do the same when they see "racist comments" (or poorly worded 'banter') on the same website when it's not from a bear...
  24. unfortunately, Miller can sign for the Turks now, we have to pay his wages until the end of the year, he gets his move in the summer and we get nothing.
  25. I thought Ness was one of the few who got pass marks today. Despite the occasion of it all, and a terrible team performance, he showed he has the capability to be a top player. He looked like he wanted to play the forward pass, and sprayed a few brilliant diagonal balls, and if there had been more of a presence and better movement up front, he would have created something. Hutton on the otherhand, despite doing exceedingly well, hasn't impressed me as much as Ness.
