  1. If he’d tried that with a couple of cuddies of my acquaintance he’d have needed putting together.
  2. Kich - well, he was our bastard.
  3. He plays centre forward and inside right in the same match with an occasional stint on either wing. Jimmy Millar could play the centre/inside rôle but he didn’t have to often.
  4. Greig. Shearer. Gough. Weir. Somebody like that.
  5. Next manager but one after SG?
  6. You’ll be entitled to change your mind nearer the time.
  7. I think that’s the fixture list for 1 February. Tomorrow’s the effy cup.
  8. Wolves played very well last night. Worth at least a draw. My granny would have scored that late chance and she wasn’t a good player.
  9. The weekend predictions were rubbish, so, with little hope: B’mth 0-0 BHA (seaside borefest) Villa 2-1 Watford Palace 2-0 So’ton Everton 2-0 Magpies Blades 2-1 City Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal Leicester 1-2 Hammers Hotspurs 3-0 Norwich United 2-0 Burnley SENSATION AT MOLINEUX Wolves 2-1 Liverpool (Got to happen sometime)
  10. Things you learned at your mother’s knee: Baa-baa-black-sheep. One-and-one-makes-two. Brown-Young-and-Shaw
  11. I know little about Club72 but the statements they’ve been putting out recently surpass anything Traynor comes out with.
  12. This weekend: Watford 1-2 ‘Spurs Gunners 2-1 Blades BHA 2-2 Villa City 3-0 Palace Norwich 1-1 B’mth So’ton 1-2 Wolves Hammers 1-2 Everton Magpies 1-2 Chelsea Burnley 1-2 Leicester Liverpool 3-0 United (Match of the Century, as usual)
  13. Never heard of them. Is that a good or a bad sign?
  14. Apart from the fear in that awful split second when you realised that not only were you going to head the ball but the laces were going to rake your forehead. And the dull clunk when you misjudged the fall of a high ball and it landed on the top of your head just forward of the back of the skull.
  15. And his most worthy successor, George Niven.
  16. Sad. Last of the Iron Curtain.
  17. The Rangers Arsenal history goes back pre-war. A very apt association of football aristocrats.
  18. More evidence of old compo’s elite status. Well played, sir.
  19. Everton (should be safe now) Hammers and Watford have already changed. Howe has taken Bournemouth as far as he, or anybody else for that matter, can. Sentiment may favour the bloke at Villa but big money is not sentimental. The guy at Norwich looks doomed.
  20. He’s confessed - if that’s an ok word here - to being a gooner.
  21. Watching the football during a Court hearing? Contempt surely.
  22. 5’ 7” - ach, the puir wee laddie.
  23. Sure it wasn’t Aberdour? I don’t remember an RSC in Aberlour. The Moray club is Burghead Loyal. Picks up all over the County.
  24. FT 1-0 Blades. So far, so good.
  25. This week’s effort: Blades 2-0 Hammers Palace 1-2 Arsenal Everton 3-1 BHA Leicester 3-0 So’ton United 4-0 Norwich Chelsea 2-1 Burnley Wolves 2-0 Newcastle ’Spurs 0-2 Liverpool B’mth 1-1 Watford Villa 0-3 City
