it terrifies me that a Rangers fan can write that. It's like reading McMurdo or the Whyte devotees who would never give in way after his evil had been laid bare. Like Whyte, Green came with a history. Like Whyte he lived down to that. Makes me sick to read stuff like this, flippant or not - it's like reading McMurdo, its worse than reading the bile from the filth. -

yes, I am far from a liker of the rags.......but I do admire this group. The reason I find the thought horrific is the thought of abandoning Ibrox. -

I have horrific waking nightmares that it'll come to that - like the Man U fans did when Glazers took over. -
Adrian Durham - Any records broken by Celtic at this time...

I suspect you don't wonder at all, aweebluesoandso -
As with last game (that put us top of the league ) the game today has been switched to Murray park. It was to be at St Mirren with a 7pm kick off, but now - "Dear all, Please see updated details ahead of this evening’s fixture between Rangers and St. Mirren: SPFL U20 League Rangers v St. Mirren Murray Park, 6pm "

Sorry, Andy but I don't buy that. The statement says Celtic took all possible steps to prevent the banner being shown. No-one took any steps to stop it. It wasn't smuggled in and put up for 30 seconds. It was taken in - and it was big - by vermin who had previous for taking in banners, it was held up by many fans and was in full view. Nothing was done to deter this, quite the opposite. It is not paranoia to complain re this: "However, Celtic FC were able to demonstrate that they had taken all reasonably practicable steps to prevent the banner being displayed at Celtic Park."

Wonder what would happen if we had a big banner condemning Sands and H block sympathisers? well, actually I don't wonder but it would highlight the hypocrisy

Also - even if we allow the ludicrous notion it was not seen going in, why was it not taken down thereafter?

Should be unbelievable but is just expected nowadays. --- The Scottish Professional Football League has decided not to take action against Celtic for a banner shown by their supporters in a league match with Aberdeen. Since November, the league have been investigating the display of a giant H by a section of fans at Parkhead, which was accompanied by the message "they fought and died for their wee bit hill and glen." Complaints were subsequently made to the SPFL, who confirmed they would determine whether the banner breached their rules on unacceptable conduct. STV understands the league have ruled there is no evidence to suggest their rules were breached in the incident. SPFL regulations say action may be taken if a person present at a match uses "words or conduct or displaying any writing or other thing which indicates support for, or affiliation to, or celebration of, or opposition to an organisation or group proscribed in terms of the Terrorism Act 2000." However, a club is not automatically punished under SPFL rules if a potentially offensive banner is displayed. The league's regulations state action can be taken if a club has failed to take the necessary measures to prevent spectators from "engaging" in unacceptable conduct. They can then only be hit with sanctions if it can be proven the club failed to adopted and implement procedures to try to ensure such incidents do not take place. The onus is also placed on clubs to be seen to "effectively deal" with any incidents of unacceptable conduct. A failure to do so may also constitute a breach of league rules. Celtic condemned the display of the banners shortly after, saying they had not been approved by the club and were not welcome within the stadium. UEFA, who have different rules regarding the display of offensive banners at games under their jurisdiction, fined Celtic £42,000 following a display at the Champions League match with AC Milan last November. On the banner, unfurled before the match, images of William Wallace and Bobby Sands were shown alongside the message: "The terrorist or the dreamer? The savage or the brave? Depends whose vote you are trying to catch or whose face you're trying to save." -- Can you imagine what this will encourage them to display next? FFS, what a state..............

I was totally unaware of that, don;t think my email stood a chance, then! They get everywhere. I didn't have the stomach for the blog.... -
Yes, both ends would be brilliant. I'd love the TBO behind the goals in the Copland Road end (I'm an oldie, that is the Rangers End to me (and, yes, the original main singing area will always be "The Derry" of days long gone, but that is irrecoverable) ) and the UB behind the Broomloan goals - trying to outdo each other all game long Thanks anyway to both groups for all your signing. You may not hear it often expressed on-line, but your efforts are very much appreciated, especially on cold days/boring games.

SteveC replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I've had half a dozen or so interactions with Mark and they've all been about Rangers. Rangers, Rangers and Rangers. We had some banter, nothing untoward ever happened. I have been kicked off Follow Follow (unjustifiably so) and resigned once over Leggat so I don't have the same names on boards any longer) but I don't hold him personally responsible for that and in any case I'd still say that we shouldn't be going around calling other Rangers fans "pricks". I got a yellow card for intimating that the RM forum was often not worth reading (in huge part due to them hating MD more than they hate septic or love Rangers - though that was not specified in my comment) so "the guy's a prick end off" is presumably going to bring you similar. He was not a prick when I met him nor when plgsarmy did, nor for that matter when he spoke well for the club in front of Spiers on TV last year. I've only had fleeting contact with him of course, but then even if I were to multiply that by ten - it'd still be two Rangers fans talking about the Rangers. Rangers fans united in discussing how to help the club. Rangers. Rangers and Rangers. "Supporters Direct chief calls on Rangers fans to unite." When has a thread title last been so abused? -

Somewhat ironic that this thread title is followed by one announcing TBO and UB are "dis-uniting" and is in itself another testament to our inability to do so. -
Why does it have to be Glasgow anyway? Dundee sounds more suitable, or Elgin...or Thurso...or the Orkneys...or Oslo...etc....

I wouldn't put it past them, SC. "Ibrox official is alleged" covers a multitude of potential get-outs... Wouldn't be surprised if it were true though, despite these sources. It fits with other things we've been told....or maybe the last few years just make me automatically assume the worst -
It's the Sun so hopefully as untrue as many of their stories, but, it does chime with Keith Jackson's recent statement that we'd have no money in weeks, not months and if you remember the original estimate of "last million by April" and deduct unseen pay offs since that prediction then this is scary enough, despite the source. The emboldening at the end is by me, not the paper, to perhaps give a more hopeful reading experience for you - though again it is a dodgy source. "RANGERS are at the centre of a financial cover-up investigation over claims the club will be broke within two weeks. The stock exchange inquiry was launched after an Ibrox official is alleged to have forecast they would run out of cash by mid-February. New chief executive Graham Wallace has assured fans there is no danger of a second plunge into administration — two years after ex-owner Craig Whyte steered the club to its doom. But in a complaint to the AIM exchange, a disgruntled investor writes: “It’s the worst-kept secret in Scotland that the club is running out of money in the next few weeks, yet the board has made no announcement.” The shareholder says Rangers should have disclosed any projected shortfall under stock market rules. AIM chiefs have vowed to investigate the claims. An Ibrox spokesman said they could not comment on regulatory matters. But a source said last night: “It’s untrue — there are people trying to undermine the board." (By Cameron Hay)

Hutton went for 9 million because Spurs went mad based on seeing him attack to great effect in Champion's League games. they presumed he could also defend. They soon found out he could not. Harry Redknapp in a revealing interview, praised his attitude in training (a long time ago, then) and said he was a "fantastic lad" but "simply could not defend". Hutton was an utter liability at Spurs, no idea of positioning, tackling or really anything to do with defending at all. Like many of our full back he spent 90% of his time with us attacking. How Wallace would cope with the demands of defending in a top league is something as yet untested. Hutton was starring (albeit in an offensive role) in the SPL which, crap though it is, is far ahead of where Wallace has starred and in the Champs League. the latter adding millions to a sale. Hutton was nowhere near good enough for the EPL, to judge all players worth by his (million tag is nuts. it's like judging all strikers by Andy Carroll (or Tore Andre Flo's) scandalous price tags. Wallace has been great for us but against English league rank of some two or three leagues below the Conference. I hope he goes on to captain us into the top flight. I like him a lot but he is currently nowhere near being "a £6 million player", and Billy Davies did nothing wrong, Rangers would have offered the same if the situations had been reversed. Typing "end of" is akin to typing "FACT" at the end of forum posts - they seem to always indicate that the reverse is the case.

That's its whole point though, surely? To put off the bluff until just around season ticket renewal time. then to come up with something that sounds good/plausible without enough time for people to see through it before renewing.

What a waste of time, should have just exchanged emails for that level of non info. All very well asking for time as a new CEO in normal circumstances. We are not in normal circumstances. If time is so precious yesterday was a day of it wasted.
