That's only a question in the rhetorical sense. There was a claim somewhere in this mess of a thread about Rangers fans being Protestant, It's utter nonsense: the vast majority of us (yes, I include me, see above) sing anti-Catholic (oh oK "anti-******") songs. However, as for attendance - far less belief - in the confession (to give it its correct term) of Christianity known as Protestantism, a negligible percentage qualifying as protestant would probably be overstating the case. We behave as a support as anti-Catholic, not as pro-Protestant (not that we should do this nor that it has any place in football , if even society in the 21st Century). We are seen worldwide as that. Our belligerent expression of "Britishness" is totally at odds with the main positive defining features of being British. I have to say that our support for even something as seemingly noble as Remembrance Day has seemed to me to become just a petty little spat with the idiots in the schum's support, not really a reflection on the day itself.

what a depressing thread, not least because it recalls endless "conversations" I had in Glasgow - when it was still a place to love - in the early 70s. Oh well, here is an insightful and relevant article from FF: http://www.followfollow.com/news/tmn...30/index.shtml By Hobbes

To say nothing of the breathtaking irony in these two lines: "Remuneration and Nominations Committee James Easdale (Chairman)"

Rangers Union of Fans meeting statement regarding London meetings
SteveC replied to j1mgg's topic in Rangers Chat
So what? What on Earth good would that do? Keeping an eye on Stockbridge hasn't helped, or Green (that's not why he "left"/took a small step back_) nor would it ever any of their kind. Marching against/boycotting etc won't make a blind bit of difference to them either. We need them out.- 34 replies

Nothing to do with doom-mongers: the rocks of going into debt are ever close. tens of millions down to 1 million, money due to run out before the end of the season. Therefore the only transfer window before that happens is this coming one.

Rangers Union of Fans meeting statement regarding London meetings

That tends to happen on internet forums, doubly so when there is an emotional attachment. On the other hand....these are desperate times.- 34 replies

Rangers Union of Fans meeting statement regarding London meetings

"Despite broad agreement on fans' concerns, Mr Kingsnorth indicated that Laxey were unlikely to change their already submitted and publicly stated vote. " That has the terrible sound of a jail door slamming in our faces, if not a death knell- 34 replies

It is also where we won our only European trophy to date (and one has to think, sadly..................well, I don't want to finish that sentence.,,,)

At least one set of said groups is British, who would argue both groups are.................. ...but in general, there's a point of utter divide here between those who think singing about what? historical warriors/freedom fighters/terrorists/drug overlords/local gangs... whatever term you choose...has any place in supporting a football club in the 21st century - years after Paisley and McGuinness have laughed together - is OK (if not de riguer) and those who are baffled by it. It's a deeper divide than we acknowledge as it is also personal. My father took me everywhere to see Rangers from child until iI went with my pals. He also taught me to be totally opposed to discrimination/bias and had no time for sectarianism in any form. The result is I straddle this debate uncomfortably. For example, I revelled in belting out the songs I use to sing in my teenage years when I was at Sheffield, it was a pure nostalgia trip. Yet I don't believe any of those songs have anything to do with football watching. Hypocritical? Yes, I am = terribly so. I have never felt I was supporting the team more than when I belted out TBB in defiance or triumph, back in the 70s, even though I intellectually know it is wrong to sing it. Think I'll go to my grave with this problem, I've had it for over 40 years already and am no nearer a solution.

fingers crossed, we are in need of a change of heart/voting from them. Simply put our club is running out of time and options. 22 months on and here we are still being fleeced by crooks in suits aided and abetted by Morton Muscle and Toxic Jack.

Mass fan protests at Rangers v Ayr Utd 7th December 2013 - PHOTOS
SteveC replied to the gunslinger's topic in Rangers Chat
Thanks for all these and many thanks for all your wonderful photos over the years. You do an outstanding job and it is very much appreciated. The protests look great but Easdale seems to be smugly mocking -
This bit is true "...which should be held in future by the best, professional people with Rangers true best interests at heart and not having their involvement driven by their own personal self interest." Pity the current lot don't have mirrors to look into after typing.

Will be c 400 miles away - and in danger of not even getting to an internet feed for the kick off - but my thoughts are with you. I don't think our enemies (our owners) care what we Rangers' fans feel and think (mere slaves to be tortured at whim) but at least if we lose to them, you will have made the opposition to their flagrant abuse and greed apparent.

Seems quite simple. This proposal for the future is the opposite of what we suffer under at the present. Now, which of these two scenarios would any supporter of Rangers want? Not exactly a poser.

The papers seem to show that Merlin was right - he obviously had an early tip off from his toxic owner - I am very disappointed in McColl. I know he hasn't really changed his stance in some ways but to say his involvement is over is a horrific blow ahead of the AGM. That's something he surely could have thought of - the propaganda he's given to those who are in it only for lining their own pockets are happy bunnies this morning. Also McColl seems to me to be walking away in the middle of a boxing bout, claiming he's won but his opponent is the only man standing in the ring. And laughing at him - and therefore us.

Yes, I often think that "'look-at-me-look-at-me-praise-me-praise-me-love-me-love-me-me-me-me" syndrome must come from having nothing else in their lives. I know there are other causes too but I mean its all encompassing nature in every one of them

It is not deflection, it is association. They are saying that the IRA rebels v the UK are just the same as the Scots soldiers who sent "proud Edward homeward". I presume they thought that since Aberdeen sing FoS a lot when playing against us it would be a particularly good day for them to equate what they see as Irish Nationalism (everyone else sees as terrorist outrage) and Scottish Nationalism.
