I should also add that I do not follow McGobblegiver on twitter but I saw a ReTweet in someone else's timeline. I have removed them from my friend's listing...

Phil McGobblegiver posted on twitter the other day that some hand picked journos were summonsed for a meeting with a PR executive last week. Then, lo-and-behold, several media outlets run with the story that the deal is still on, more or less at the same time. This could also be unsubstantiated nonsense designed to further muddy the waters - I wouldn't put it past him; but he does seem to have sources and it would seem to be a bit of a coincidence.

Dissappointed to wake up this morning to the news Jig is out for the season. We dont have the numbers in our squad to cope with too many players being out for prolonged periods. With games coming up, I fear this will come to bite us hard.

Burley is hurting! Couple of goals for Diouf against his precious Hoops and we'll see how impartial he remains then!

January 2011 Transfer Window - Healy, Diouf and Bartley IN
stewarty replied to stewarty's topic in Rangers Chat
I'd say the £50k p/w saving is probably about right, perhaps even a little conservative. Back to Diouf though. Looking forward to seeing him play now. The potential for winding up Timmy is boundless and I reckon it could make them take their eye off the ball. All the furore from Timmy already is quite amusing. Lennon has been known to spit in the past. They hold Roy Keane (who admitted breaking an opponent's leg) in high esteem but are frothing at the mouth at the thought of someone who spits at them? I'm not condoning any of those acts, but rather enjoying the hypocrisy once again. -
January 2011 Transfer Window - Healy, Diouf and Bartley IN

Trying to think of positives re Diouf. 1) He'll wind up the mhank's supporters 2) He'll wind up their players and management. Could be a final masterstroke from Sir Walter. -
Read it on Twitter earlier this afternoon. You don't think I read Kerryfail Street do you?

Apparently he's needed to carry kids on his back up and down the beach.

Rangers 2 - 1 Motherwell: Player Ratings and MoM Poll
stewarty replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Encouraging signs regarding Jelavic with 80-odd minutes under his belt. Understandably he tired toward the end but still had enough in his locker to produce some magic for Naismith's winner. Edu clear MOTM for me too. Belter of goal, good energy in a box-to-box display. -
Would you let the current board run your business?
stewarty replied to Stimpy's topic in Rangers Chat
Perception is usually very different from the reality. We, as customers, have a perception of the Board based on what information we have available. If I knew the actual workings and governance of the club then I could make a judgement. But without it, who knows? -
Over the games he's played, I'd say Ness has been our best player so its harsh to see him dropped. Saying that, he tires towards the end of games so maybe its just a case of giving him a breather given how many games are coming up.

January 2011 Transfer Window - Healy, Diouf and Bartley IN
stewarty replied to stewarty's topic in Rangers Chat
The thing with Healy though is that his club form for the past few seasons has been woeful. But maybe your are right Danny. A loan spell initially and if he can show some form, could perhaps earn himself a permanent deal in the summer. -

Just spotted someone on FF saying that we've enquired with Motherwell as to what money we'd be looking at for John Sutton's signature. Silly season in full flow now -
Ignore me. F5 does the trick

Any chance this button could be activated within the new posts search results screen as well? Its only a wee gripe but there doesn't appear to be any way to refresh the new posts screen other than to click elsewhere in the forum and then re-click on new posts after that. Cheers!

Cracking finish from Boughie and a more disciplined performance so he too gets my vote. I wonder what the upturn in performance level was down to? Mmmmmm, let me think.....

There you go confusing me again When you strip away all your bluster we pretty much have the same point of view. I'm saying that scouting networks in far flung climes such as South America are high risk and no panacea. I also say that we should concentrate on developing home grown players but remaining open to the likes of bringing in other players such as Cuellar. Your point, I assume, is that we should focus on youth but also look at investing in scouting networks on mainland europe to pick up the players who have superior technical and physical ability. Not all that different from what I was saying, unless I've misinterpreted something?

Man, you really need to work on your debating style. I can picture you absolutely thumping the keyboard as you rattle out your comments. And not even a wee smiley to let everyone know your okay? :fish:

The gems I was referring to are the likes of Cuellar who we made a profit from when sold to Villa. But Cal's point about non-EU players is one I hadn't thought of and would obviously restrict who we could actually sign. Clubs from Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, etc, benefit from much more relaxed naturalisation rules and so can get round this far more easily.

I'm struggling with your line of thought here. First you say why bother, then you say "obviously continue to work on homegrown youth". Whether we like it or not, squads of expensively assembled foreign players are not likely to feature much in McCoists 3 year plan for the club. I think it is you that needs to see the doctor about the old ostrich syndrome.

Financially, Wigan are in the elite league and can pay far higher wages than we can.
